* A Day of More Ups Than Downs *

Today was a beautiful, sunny day! Although it was on the cool side, temperature-wise, it was so welcomed!

I received a couple of unexpected e-mails from friends that brought joy. I got a couple of much needed errands taken care of. (For one thing, poor Tiger had run out of her Milk Bone dog treats!)

I had a great time at Saturday Writers first Open Mic tonight! And I'm looking forward to tomorrow's monthly meeting. I love being with my writer friends. I'm always so much more motivated after spending time with them. They're all a great bunch of people!

There were only a couple of downers today. One was the discovery that a bill I owed was twice as much as I anticipated! And the other was a rejection e-mail on a story I'd submitted to a magazine. Ouch! Actually, it was a complimentary rejection. It just wasn't right for them at this time. Even at that, it still caused a few minutes of the usual array of emotions, but all is well tonight. I'm happy and confident and I can't wait to get back to writing my book......sometime tomorrow! Because it's kind of late, and I'm really tired, I gotta get to sleep! 'Night everyone! Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. You are so right about the benefits of belonging to a writers' group. I miss the one I belonged to, but my work schedule conflicted. :( I'll find another (Atlanta is a big place) but it won't be quote the same as the first one...glad you had a great Friday. Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Hi Becky....How do you decide where to submit your articles? Do you have Writer's Market or find markets online. Just curious. Am trying to find how to find markets as a freelance. Thanks. Sincerely, Susan

  4. Becky, I'm glad the open mic went well! I'm afraid I've been MIA as far as writing groups are concerned for the past year or so. I feel a little bit bad about that, because I used to be pretty involved in SLWG and Sat. Writers. Maybe at some point during the next year I'll get back to it again. But I'm glad you are having a good time!

  5. I've been thinking about checking out the writing group that meets at my local B & N. Haven't had the courage yet, though.

Hope your Saturday is going well. Those rejections are never fun, but there are always more ponds (markets) to explore!

  6. Just save that story to send elsewhere. You'll find a home for it!

  7. Hi Lisa! Thanks, and yes, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find a writers group that will be just the right fit for you! I have relatives there, but they aren't writers, so I have no suggestions! I can ask if they know of any, though!

  8. Hi Susan

I don't use Writers Market, although that can be a good source. I would just use the one at the library, too, because the info in it changes so often. I just go online and google Writing Calls for Submissions, etc. Plus I've joined some free online e-mails that send out info like that. You can start by checking out C.Hope Clark's blog. She always lists stuff there, and so do lots of my other blog list friends.

  10. Hi Dianna! Thanks for stopping by! Gosh, you haven't even had the time to do that lately! We've missed you at our meetings and events, but can certainly understand how busy you've been! Hope to see you again soon.

  11. Hi Janel! I hope you find a group that you like! I've always been happy with mine, but I know there are some out there that aren't the nicest of people.... :(
    Good Luck!

  13. Hi Becky! I'm behind on blog reading and playing catch up tonight. Writer's groups really can give you insight into your work and give you ideas and a new way of looking at things. I don't belong to any at the moment, but I have in the past.

  14. Sounds happy that there is so much more up then down! And a complimentary rejection is sure better then a "you call this writing?" one! I'm curious how you will answer Susan's comment.

  15. Hi Daisy! Thanks for stopping by! I'm behind on my blogging and commenting, too! I've either been gone a lot, or home and doing some much needed cleaning! And, no, it wasn't because I was trying to avoid doing any of my writing! And, actually, I can't wait to get going on some writing projects tomorrow...er, actually it IS tomorrow morning! :)

  16. Hi Jenny! Thanks, and you are right! A "nice" reject is definitely better than a "mean" one! Thanks for reminding me of that! I already did answer Susan's question...up above a little ways...at least I think I did!!

I'm still getting quite a few spam comments that are Anonymous, so I'm trying "User with Google Accounts." If anyone tries to comment that I know, and it won't let you, send me an email, okay? Thanks so much.
