* Fatigued Friday *

It's been a wonderful day, a wonderful week. About 2:30 this afternoon, though, it hit me. The tiredness that envelopes me. The tiredness that makes me feel as if I took one of those "non-drowsy" sinus pills. Non-Drowsy? For who? (or it is whom?) But, I hadn't taken any kind of medication, or any other substance that would make me so sleepy. It's just the way I am. And grateful that I'm at the point in my life, I can take naps pretty much whenever necessary. This wasn't a little "couch nap"....no, this was a go upstairs, crawl under the covers, and take a long nap, nap!

Although I slept well, I really don't feel like posting much tonight. I also still have some things to gather for an all-day Saturday Writers meeting tomorrow. From the agenda, it sounds like we'll have a fun-filled day!

So, I decided instead of my usual quote at the end of my post, the majority of this post will be various quotes. Some are inspirational, some humorous, and some are just my favorites!

"Summer days call for light reading." -- Anonymous

"If you believe you can make a living as a writer, you already have enough ego." -- David Brin

"The only thing that is ever foolish about a dream is not to act on it." -- Pat Croce

"Behind every successful woman...is a substantial amount of coffee." -- Stephanie Piro

"Every day we should hear at least one little song, read one good poem, see one exquisite picture, and, if possible, speak a few sensible words." -- Goethe

"Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen." -- Goethe

And last, but not least....one of my all-time favorite quotes, by my all-time favorite writer:

"My second favorite household chore is ironing; my first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint."--  Erma Bombeck

  1. Oh wow! Becky, you surely needed that sleep! Really, under the covers!
Actually I get tired spells too. So tired I have to lay down. They even happen while I'm driving. That is when I call in my reserve driver.

I hope your meeting goes well today. I would be intimidated hanging out with so many writers. I do enjoy the small poetry groups I get involved with here on the blogsphere comment loop. Only rarely do I get bitten.
I might like to sit in quietly and listen and observe a writers group meeting. For sure there are things to be learned.

  2. I get those spells, Becky. I just have to drag myself off to bed and hide there until my energy resurfaces.

    Have fun today!

  3. I love me some Erma!

I nap almost daily...but then again, I'm up until about 4am, and get up at 8.

If I ever do get a job, I'm gonna be in a world of hurt until I figure out this sleep thing.

  5. Hi! Just wanted to stop by and thank you for your visit...I just love it when I "meet" someone new in the blog world. Any friend of Jennys is a friend of mine. Congrats on the book. I came late to the writing game as well, thought I'd like to do a book but decided I'm much better at blogging.

Looks like we have sons about the same age...mine had a birthday on the 21st. Hope you have a great weekend! Come see me again soon!

  8. Hi Becky, Here's one more quote to tie it all together. This is from Fran Leibowitz's essay "Why I Love Sleep." Why she loves sleep, you ask? ... "Sleep is death without the responsibility."

  9. I think all of these hot and hazy days are making everybody sleepy. I just read your post and I'm feeling like I could use a nap right now, although it's way too late. :)

  11. Hey Everyone! Thank you all SO much for taking the time to comment. I really do appreciate it. I thank you, too, if you read my blog, and DON'T comment, for whatever reasons. I just like to know if my writing is amusing, touching, etc. Thanks for stopping by!!
Oh, and to Katie Gates: I forgot to add this quote by Fran L., too, which I really love:
"Life is something that happens when you can't get to sleep." ~Fran Lebowitz

  12. Sometimes us "rock stars" need to have a crash and recharge out batteries (did that make sense?). One of my fav sayings is "Run with the motors and leave the anchors behind". Meaning: hang with the like minded and positive people. Leave the ones who are "not so much" behind! I have to say, I know I've read this before, but today it reaaly hit me. I read your header about "proof that dreams come true.." and how in your 40's you've been writing. OMG that is SO me. I wrote activly in
my late 20's..then it went dromat for awhile..then the babies came. Now at 44 I am finding my voice again and pursuing that dream again! My kids are still small and I work full time so it's VERY hard. BUT I will git 'er done. It's really nice to know I am not alone :)

  17. Hello and thanks to those who commented after my last comment! I did indeed get some good rest. In fact, I've only been sleeping about 5 hours a night since then, and NO NAPS! But, I'm sure that will change again soon! I'm on a decluttering, organizing AND writing journey this week.
