♪ Those Lazy,Hazy,Crazy Days of Summer & Wind Chimes ♪

** Thanks to the comment left by Sioux, I changed my previous music for this particular post, to one that makes much more sense! Wind Chimes! Hope you enjoy! **

I don't know if I've ever written anything on my blog about my love of wind chimes.........

But, ever since I was a little girl, I've been mesmerized by them. I especially love to listen to these shell-like ones. They are delicate and have a soothing, summery kind of sound. As you can see in these photos, I have two sets hanging on a floor lamp. The lamp occupies a corner of my upstairs office, which gets really hot in the summer, so a couple of years ago, my husband put in a window air conditioner for me. The lamp stands near the window and when the a/c is on, the air blows toward the chimes ever so gently, and they make just the slightest of tinkling sounds. I find it so soothing. It takes me back to other times in my life and brings me great joy. Isn't it wonderful when something so simple can be so life effecting?

Can you see the shells swaying in this photo?
Can you hear them, as well?!

  1. I'm not a huge windchime fan, although your shell ones sound lovely, but I love falling asleep with the windows open, frogs and crickets chirping away. Not that's the way to get a good night's sleep, until the neighbor's dueling roosters wake me at 5 AM!

  2. Oh, I love wind chimes too, Becky. Another similarity for us!!! I have many outside, altough several have worn out lately. Someday I would like to have one of those tuned chimes...expensive though. Also have you seen the solar ones you put on a table in front of a sunny window...I would like one of those as well!!! I never thought of what you have inside...I could drive DH mad with a fan under those!!!

Right after my dad died, I found a tiny metal angle with tiny tinkling chimes...she sits on one of my cabinet doors. I have heard it so much I rarely notice when anyone opens the cabinet door anymore. Oh, and a friend gave me a CD of wind chimes in music...have you heard those?

    Hot here today...wearing on folks.

  5. Okay, I guess this is indicative of how ADD my mind is, but as soon as the music started, wind chimes went in one ear and out the other, and what got cemented in my mind was Nat King Cole; specifically, the movie Cat Ballou (one of my favorites. I love Nat King Cole; in fact, one of the songs that is on my "playlist" in my third grade class is Nat's Route 66. He was definitely a gem of a singer...

  6. I love wind chimes too! we have a terrace where we keep most of them, including one made out of blue agatha flat stones making a delicate almost wishpering sound, the one with multiple short metal tubes that sounds like andian music,a wood and metal one that swirls and makes a happy -contagious sound and a silent turkish evil eye, that makes no noise but looks awesome!

  7. I agree, wind chimes are very soothing. I live in a flat and unfortunately, there isn't anywhere to hang them. However, I love lying in bed at night and listening to the birds, squirrels and owls. Sometimes it sounds like the zoo!

  12. My son gave me windchimes one year as a gift and wrote, as the wind blows these and makes a lovely sound, may you be reminded of how you uplifted us with your love, (or something like that) Made my day. They hang indoors now.

  13. I like the ones that are more of a whisper than a clang. Some can be way too intrusive for my taste.
    Yours look very pretty!

  15. I adore windchimes! I have some on my front porch, and a beautiful set on my back deck my Mama gave me a few months before she passed. They are right outside my bedroom window and I listen to them late at night and think of my mom. She told me when she gave them to me that whenever I heard them it would be her singing to me. They are one of my most cherished treasures.
