Will Someone Please Rescue Charlie Sheen?

I don't watch the gossip shows on TV. I don't read any of that junk in magazines, newspapers or online. But just from what I've heard on the TV news the past few weeks, days, and hours....I honestly only feed sadness about Charlie Sheen.

I don't understand that kind of addiction because, thank goodness, I've never had to deal with anything that horrible relating to myself or anyone I know. But, I'm pretty sure that throwing millions of dollars toward an addict will only push him farther into his dependency and despair.

Robert Downey, Jr. somehow lived through something similar, got the help he needed, and look at him now. His career has been revitalized and I can only hope that he is happy and at peace with himself. Robert, are you out there? Can you please help Charlie? Somebody? Anybody?

Charlie Sheen is a gifted actor. He is a human being. He deserves to live....healthfully and peacefully.

  1. Hey Becky ~~ Thanks for peeking in on my Friday meme. I am not a fan of Charlie Sheen, I've known but not seen two and a half men, but I do know those Hollywood people must have terrible pressures. Poor Lindsay Lohan is in my book of worries right now.

Best wishes on the memoirs. I started mine on line a couple of years ago but haven't cultivated anything else for quite a while.

  2. I cant't imagine living in a world where no one says no but that must be how it is. Such a shame. I hope he gets help and soon.

  3. Sadly, I don't think he is at rock bottom where he needs to be to get the right kind of help. He doesn't truly want to get better at this point and he's not surrounded by people who want to or can help him anyway.

  4. I think one thing that helped Robert Downey Jr. get back on track was having to face real consequences from his misbehavior and illegal activity. He did jail time.

Maybe if Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen had to face REAL consequences, it would be the wake up call they'd need to get their lives back on track.

  5. Addiction is a horrible thing! Looking at so many talented people who throw their lives away...well it's just sad!

  6. His life is a train wreck right now, that's for sure. I'm not sure anyone can help him until he realizes he needs it and wants it for himself.

Hope you have a nice weekend, Becky.

  7. It really is a sad story. I hope he can find the help he needs....and realize that he needs it!

  8. I skip that stuff, but read up on it thanks to your post. Wow. Sounds to me like his addictions aren't what's going to finish his career, at least. This looks like a great example of how Narcissus wasted away admiring himself.

  9. I don't watch the show, but I've heard the news. All I can say is I hope he gets some 'real' help.

  10. He really does need help, that is for sure. I think he is showing signs of mental illness though, not just drug addiction. The stuff he is saying and doing is really out there.

  11. Hey Becky, You know it's ok to be stupid but I think he's abusing the privelege.

  12. Hey Becky - Following the lives of some of these celebrities is like watching a series of train wrecks. Unable to look away, we watch in horror as they derail. For all the wild ones, there are many who appear reassuringly stable (Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Sandra Bullock). They have troubles but fare them with grace.

The fame and money isn't to blame for the behavior of people like Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan. It just enables them to behave the way they probably would anyway under any circumstances, because their problems to be addressed lie within them, not at the bank vault. We can only hope they get the help they need before their actions/addictions destroy them.

  13. I agree with everything Lisa R. C. says. Another nice star, (at least as far as I can see) is Reese Witherspoon. She is one of my favorites, she was a child star and she seems to be doing alright.

  14. Unfortunately, it's hard not to know about Charlie Sheen since it's on the regular news. I don't know why that is. Maybe that's part of the problem when people's business is scrutinized so much. Seems like celebrities can't breathe anymore without everyone knowing about it.

  15. Thanks to all of you for leaving comments. I agree with just about everything everyone said. I know about addictions having nothing to do with money, etc....yet, just think how much easier it is to get stuff when you're a millionaire! My point is just that I hate to see anyone going down such a dangerous and heartbreaking path. And unfortunately, celebrities who have problems and behave "badly", are always considered "news".....

  16. Any one who has these kind of problems is a pity case. They have to be ready to get help, and many times they burn themselves out first. In too many cases the law is not strict enough. Treatment is needed, but jail time has often been earned also. I wonder if there are any treatment programs given while in jail. Bet there are a lot of prospects staying there.

  18. I don't know much about the lives of actors, so this news came as a surprise. Charlie Sheen deserves to be rescued.

Hope you're zipping happily along on the memoir!

  19. I hope he gets it all worked out. Drugs waste such wonderful people's lives.
Charlie is a talented actor. Lets pray he believes in the Lord and is asking for help.

  20. It's hard looking at the misery on his face. I know addiction...have dealt with it for 14 years with our youngest daughter.

The ugliness is incomprehensible. I hope he finds the help he needs. It saddens me for those beautiful children.
