* Nostalgic Sundays *

It's Time for Another Nostalgic Sunday....Already??

Today I had a difficult time coming up with something for Nostalgic Sunday. Actually, that's not quite true. I had an idea, but after rummaging around four or five boxes of photos, and still not finding THE ONE photo I was looking for, it was time for Plan B.

This is what The Ronald gave me for my birthday this year. He's been down and out with some kind of cold or flu, but still managed to go to a store and bought the lovely basket of fresh flowers. (Carnations are one of my favorites because they last so long.)

And then, his sense of humor shines brightly with the cake mix box (He didn't feel well enough to  make it...don't know why he didn't just buy one while he was out!) And of course, the numbered candles on top really made me laugh, because that's not how old I am this year, which he knew...but he said we didn't have a "9" in the cabinets! (another thought of why not buy one?!)  But, I was thrilled with his thoughtfulness!
Flash Back quite a few birthdays. This was during my contact lenses and perms phase. That is my baby boy, Mark, and myself on my 35th Birthday! Awwww... Very happy times!
Back to the year 2012 and reality! Oh, how I used to love to tease my mom about her flabby under-arms. Shame on me, but how was I to know I would have the same affliction someday?!
Welcome to my newest follower, Denise Covey. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see. Thank you!

  1. Happy Birthday Becky ... love hubby's sense of humor. Hope he feels well quickly.

    So love Andy Griffith.

And, yes, I used to say 'ugh, I'll never have that flab' to my Mother. Little did I know ...

    Have a beautiful week ~

  2. The flowers and cake idea was so thoughful! Much better than a three-dollar pink change purse for someone who doesn't like pink.

My teaching buddy always does the royal wave instead of a regular wave. "It doesn't jiggle your arm fat," she says.

  3. That's a very sweet picture of you and your son, Becky. Your husbands "cake" made me laugh. I hope he feels better soon.

  4. Are you as glad as I am that perms went out of style? I grew so weary of my poodle 'do!

You and The Ronald will have to make the cake after he's all better - there is no day that a cake can't make better!

  8. Hi Marydon! Thanks so much. Yes, I love my husband's sense of humor, too. We have a fun time together.
AND love Andy Griffith! Funny how we thought we'd never have arm flab! :)

Hey Val ~~ Hmmm, something tells me you were given a pink change purse you didn' like. See how fast I pick up on those things??

Hi Daisy! Thanks! I look at that picture and can't believe how fast the years have gone...sniff, sniff. Glad the "cake" made you laugh!

Hey Kim~ Actually, I loved my perms. My hair is soooo fine, that it really helped make it look thicker. I'll probably whip up that cake by myself in a day or two.

Oh Claudia~ You are SOOO sweet!

Hi Susan! Yep, I agree. He is hilarious (sometimes!) and so am I (all the time!) :D

Hi mybabyjohn/Delores! Yes, he really is a sweetie and I know I'm lucky. Thanks for stopping and commenting!

  9. Oh you should see my perm days, long curly, mile high, because my hair grows up and out like a bush, not down. Your actually looks cute.
Ron is as funny as Bill. We're lucky.

  10. Happy birthday again, Becky!

Your hubby is adorable for wanting to buy you something and has made you laugh with the candles and cake mix. I think that's the most important in his showing how much he cares.
    Very sweet, nostalgic Sunday!

  11. Love the "man cake". Although I can't get nostalgic about perms. I had a truly heinous spiral perm with explosion bangs that I still can't shake from memory.

  12. I well remember my days of having an afro perm!! Mind you, it was very fashionable at the time, along with these HUGE glasses that I used to wear!! That really was very thoughtful of your hubby. I did smile about the flabby arms. Eeeek!! Time is going by far too fast, and I don't like it, especially as I shall be 65 in April! Double Eeeek!!

  13. You are hilarious ! What a sweet post...

So true about the upper arm jiggle, I cover mine whenever possible. ( but UGH anyway )

I didn't appreciate Andy Griffith when he was on originally but now I like the show... a nice respite from all the junk on the tube now !

  15. Oh my gosh. I remember when I used to stare at the flab on my boss Carla's arms and swear that would never happen to me.

    It did. :(

  16. Happy Birthday! I like your hubby's sense of humor. I, too, have the arm jiggle just like my mother had. Only I think mine is worse! I'd like to know how to get rid of it. Wonder if the arm exercises really work? Yeah right, like I'm going to do those. :D

  19. Awww! The cake and flowers are so sweet! Even if it is the wrong age. ;) And carnations are my favorites for that very same reason!

  22. Hi Linda! Oh, I have some really bad perm photos, too! And yes, I know I'm very fortunate having such a neat husband.

Hi Estrella! Thank you! And yes, we always have a lot of fun. He IS a sweetie.

Hi Julie! Thanks. I love the vision I had when I read "explosion bangs!"

Hi Diane! OMG, I cannot believe you are almost 65! You look fabulous, dahhhhling!! :D

Hi Nonna! Thanks so much! I loved the Andy Griffith show when I was a kid, but I would get SO annoyed at how dumb Barney was most of the time....but now...I only love him and feel sorry for him! He's just such a nice guy! Oh, and I almost NEVER wear anything sleeveless!

Hi September Mom! Thank you for all your sweet words!

Hey Juliann! How funny! Isn't Payback hell?!

Hi Cheryl! Thanks so much! And I really don't think there is an exercise to cure flabby arms...and if I could afford some cosmetic surgery....I sure wouldn't use it on that! :)

Hi Myrna! Thank you! Yes, Ron was a sweetie and I love the cake he presented me!!

    Hi Sue! Thanks!! :)

Hi Kelly! Thank you so much. I can't imagine you having Flabby Arm Syndrome! You look like a teenager in your profile photo!

Hi Peggy! Thank you! Yeah, the wrong age made it even funnier.

Hi Berta! Thanks! Yep, he's a hoot!

Hi Pat! Thanks! My birthday was great, and I'm still celebrating!

  24. Glad you had a great day! I'm not thrilled with the underarm jiggle either. And I was noticing just today that the skin under my chin is getting a bit, er, looser. . .*sigh*

I, too, had a perm, pretty much all through the '80s. Now I'm over 50 and my hair is naturally curly. Go figure.

  25. It must have been the cold meds that impaired his shopping thinking, lol. Happy Birthday, Becky! I love the pic of you and Mark and the one you sent me.

    Thanks for welcoming me home.
