* Hodgepodge *

Tonight's Blog Menu: Hodgepodge!

This Week's Happenings

I entered a local art contest, in the photography catagory. I didn't win anything, but below is one of my entries:

I received (still!) some ideal birthday gifts from a dear friend this week. Below is one of them:

Awww...look at the books, growing in the garden. And the sentiment inside the cup.

I'm doing pretty well in the "Month of Letters Challenge."

I'm writing quite a bit: memoir chapters and/or calls for submissions. (This is an old photo. My desk hasn't looked like this in a LONG time. I've now taken over our dining room table...for a while!)

However your week has been, I hope you've managed to enjoy a few simple things; whether it was watching the Sunset, going for a walk, or drinking from a favorite cup!

Welcome to my newest followers, The Elephant's Child, Jo's This and That, and Karen W. Berner. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see. Thank you!

  1. The simple things are the best...the feel of clean sheets on the bed, your favourite mug....

  2. It has been one of those weeks where I had trouble feeling gratitude of little things...they got lost under bigger, more irritating things...but I am trying to turn the tide! Glad you have been so busy...actually I got two poems written and submitted. Hum, guess I got more done than I thought, Becky....

Hi mybabyjohn/Delores! I LOVE having clean sheets and pillow cases! Thank you! And yes, a favorite mug, too!

Hey Miss Bookie! I know what you mean. I've had a week...make that about a month of not living up to my plans and expectations for myself...but it obviously hasn't been a catastrophe! Good luck on your submissions!!

Hi Lynn...Yeah, slowly but surely! How are you feeling?

Hi Val! Well, at least those images are still with you! :)

Hi Linda! Thanks and yes, writing the letters and notes is really great. I just wish my handwriting wasn't so crappy! :o

Hi Nicole! Thank you VERY much for your compliment on the photo. It's a BIG close-up of little puddles on our deck. I'm glad you smiled at my desk picture. Yep, I'm still using my pink mouse!

  11. Thank you for the heads up. I too love fresh sheets on the bed, the first cup of tea of the day, a smile from a friend, a smile from a stranger, new plants in bloom, the birds who come to visit us, the cats who share our life. Lots of little things. But important things to us.

  12. You know, Becky, your post reminded me that drinking my hot green tea each morning from my big fat mug that has Nana embossed on it, is one of my simple pleasures. I like your water droplets photo.

  17. What a very pretty and unusual mug you have there my friend. I've never seen one like that before. Also the little quotation on the dish. I agree with you, that the simple things are very much the best! I thought your photo was very good.

  21. Great photography! It's one of those pictures where you look at it long enough and you can start to see shapes in the water.

    LOVE the mug!

As for simple things, watching my creatures do ordinary things like perking up their ears, yawning, or just looking up at you like you're the best always makes me smile. :)

  22. Hi Sandie! I knew you would love the simple things, too! Thanks for stopping.

Hi Thisisme! Thank you! The coffee mug is from a Barnes & Noble book store. Do you have those there? If not, they have a website, too!

Hi Lavender Dreamer! Well, gosh, thank YOU! How sweet. It just shows what happens when a blog friend posts something of interest and it just keeps going and going..

Hi Myrna! Thanks for the compliment, but I'm SO sorry you've been sick! That bronchitis is THE worst, isn't it? Glad you're feeling better.

    Hi Karen! Thank you!!

Hi Rebeca! Awwww, thanks! You're a sweetie. And oh yeah...those doggy creatures can always make us happy, can't they?
