BOOK GIVE - AWAY

Book Give-Away..Book Give-Away..Book Give-Away

It's been quite awhile since I've had a Give-Away of any kind, so I decided now was a good time for one.
Very Easy Rules: Just leave a comment about a book you'd like to recommend and a BRIEF reason why. No long book reviews, please! On Sunday, July 22nd at 9:00pm CDT, I'll choose a winner by random drawing and that winner can choose two books....any two books. They don't have to be two that are in a picture together.

*NOTE: You must live in the US to be eligible. I'm so sorry but the shipping cost to any other country is cost prohibitive.

The winner can choose from the books pictured below. Notice they aren't all "chick-lit-type" books, either. So fellas, you can leave a comment, too!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
         You can click on each group of books to see a much larger view. These are all used, except for the Stay at Home Moms book. (No, I don't have a story in it, but I received a free copy from Chicken Soup for the Soul.) The two books in the bottom left are the most "used" as far as the condition of them, but still very much readable! I'm just trying to lighten the load of books I own, so I'll most likely have another give-away like this fairly soon. Tell your friends to stop by. It's not necessary to be a follower.
 *Welcome to my newest follower, David List. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! Thank you! *
  1. Hi Becky! I recommend "The Help" by Kathryn Stockell. It is a movie also, but the book is WONDERFUL and is still available in the stores. Set in the 1960's in Mississippi, a rich society young woman interviews the black maids of her group and finds out the good and bad of what it is like to take care of the white families. Friendship, love, all kinds of stuff. I loved this book.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
  2. I just read a book by an Atlanta author Wendy Wax. 'Ten Beach Road' is about 3 women who loose all their money in a Ponzi scheme, get this house in Florida as part of the court distribution and come together to try to fix it up and sell it. Great story about three really different women.
    Thanks for the chance to enter your giveaway! hugs, Linda
  3. The best audiobook I've heard lately is "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. It's about a wife who disappears under suspicious circumstances on the couple's fifty anniversary.
    It's a thriller with lots of twists and turns - a real whodunit.
    The audiobook has the husband's voice in alternate chapters with the wife.
  4. It's a bit premature because I haven't quite finished it yet, but Clarissa Drapers THE SHOLES KEY is a great read if you enjoy mystery's!
  6. I recommend "Let's Pretend this Never Happened," by Jenny Lawson. Because it's hilarious. And it's memoir.
  8. "Those We Love the Most" by Lee Woodruff is a book about surviving the tragedy of losing a child. The writing is beautiful and the emotions are so real it took my breath away.
  11. I know I'm not eligible to win the books, but that won't stop me from recommending one ;)
    My recommendation is: The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green
    It makes me wish I had an entire day to set aside for it, to fully experience and process the book, but nights are good too (I sleep very little anyways).
    I read another book by John Green before, but chose this one mainly on impulse, because I fell in love with the title. And I am so glad I managed to jump into reading it not quite knowing what it’s all about, and had absolutely no spoilers.
    It captures so well the mysticism of personhood, and is such a rollercoaster of a book to read, even so far. I have a strong feeling I’ll be re-reading it.
    Somehow it’s clear to me that this book chose me just as much as I chose it (or even more).
    I highly recommend it to everyone!
