The Splendor of Clouds and Sky

I think I've mentioned before how much I love to take pictures, and how I keep asking Santa to bring me a really good camera for Christmas. I guess he actually does know if I'm good or bad, because it's been three years now, and I still haven't gotten one! Oh well. I can make do with my cheapie camera until the real thing comes along. La Di Da...La Di Da....

Below are some of my favorite clouds photos

These first two were taken from my front porch. Beautiful dark clouds along with the sunset.

The next two were taken from my deck. I don't know why, but that afternoon, these white, puffy clouds were bright white, so bright they hurt my eyes to look at them very long.

I thought these next two were so unique, like pulled taffy, or paint strokes.

Dark, ominous clouds but nothing developed. The first one looks like the Loch Ness Monster is on the left. I love the second one because it appears as if there are dark mountains behind the houses, and weird clouds above them.

This is one of my favorites. I took it from my window seat in an airplane .

This was just a few days ago. It was after some storms and the sky was this gorgeous color of violet and the street reflected it, too, just as it shows. It was unbelievable.

Last, this picture is from tonight. I was on the deck with The Ronald and Vern. It was close to sunset and I walked over to the edge and saw these clouds, ran into the house, grabbed my camera, and took this.

  1. Thoreau was right about this (as for so many things). I love what you have managed with your cheapie camera. I kept going through finding new favourites.
    Thank you.

  3. These are amazing, Becky! I am so happy you shared. The same sky is above us all, ever changing, isn't it? :)

  4. I enjoyed your pictures, Becky. Maybe Santa doesn't you are bad, just that you do so well with your camera you don't need a better one! Enjoy your Saturday. It still rains here, hasn't stopped...so it might come your way. Rain pictures?

  5. Great photos, thanks for sharing! And don't fret too much about the quality of your camera. My youngest daughter is currently in college pursuing a BFA in photography. She has an expensive Canon her Papa bought her before he passed away. The ironic thing is that some of the best photos she's taken have not been with the fancy camera, but with her cell phone!

  6. Lovely pictures, Becky. Clouds are amazing. I think we should all keep that "little kid" part of us that looks up and lets the sky inspire imagination.

  9. The street photo is my favorite.

My son is a camera buff. He's got a fancy-schmancy one but I don't know the brand. Lately he has been buying and selling lenses on eBay, just for fun. And money. He made the rounds to assorted Goodwill stores with his dad, looking for bargains, and made $50 in one eBay transaction last week.

Still, I hope you do get your good camera soon.

  11. Beautiful shots, mini camera or not, Becky.

Can you blow them up a little bigger? They really are quite splendid.

    Good for you!

Hope you are having a nice Sunday. Susan

  12. Looks like your cheapie camera works pretty well! We just got back from playing golf and my poor feet are screaming at me. I am definitely NOT walking on clouds right now!

p.s. How many sand dollars do you have? Do you have a collection???

  13. Lovely cloud pictures, and that violet photo is just fabulously beautiful. You did a wonderful job with your 'cheap little camera.'

If you check out the header on my "Shadows Of My Mind" blog, it is a picture of a lovely morning sunrise a few weeks ago. My hubby took it, no I don't get up that early. Anyway, I too love taking pictures with my cheap little camera.

  14. Clouds are awesome!! I have always loved looking at them and trying to make things out of them.

I'm not very good with a camera. My son has recently upgraded his camera, and he gave me his old one. Better learn how to use it!!

  20. Santa happens to be a relative of mine. I will ask him why your camera has not be delivered and see if I can get it moved to this years calendar.

By the way Santa in is off season duds is featured on the beard parade on the sidebar of my blog if you have not met him in person.

Lovely post and I liked the photos.
