* My Newest Epiphany *

Some of you may be wondering where I've been the past week. I've been extremely busy and have gotten quite a few things accomplished, but as usual, I'm still behind on everything. While lamenting the fact that I'll never get caught up, I had an epiphany.

There is no such thing as being caught up!

Every day brings new challenges to every one of us, no matter our situation. It doesn't matter whether we're young stay-at-home moms, women who have careers outside the home, middle-aged, retired, whatever.

Laundry will always pile up. Dishes will get dirty. Tables will get dusty. And rugs/floors will have crumbs and dog hairs on them. That's called life

I am SO grateful I have a husband who does not care about these things.

And at this point in my life, I've become much less concerned about the way my house looks, too, unless friends or family are coming over! Then look out!

And so my deadlines involve writing. I've just completed going through the edited version of my memoir. Next I'll make some changes as suggested by my fabulous editor and friend: Margo Dill

(I can't say enough wonderful things about Margo -- at least not today! I don't have the time! I just crack myself up sometimes! Seriously, I'll be talking more about Margo at a later date.)

So, this means I'm getting closer and closer to the actual publishing of my book in print! Have I mentioned that a local fellow writer (and member of Saturday Writers) came to me and said he will get my Word document formatted the way createspace needs it....and at no charge to me?? What a great guy. I must use the word "grateful" again! This will help me publish From Pigtails to Chin Hairs much sooner than I thought I could.....

* Welcome to my newest followers Claire Hegarty, Heather Farrar, and Marie AgneauI hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! *

P.S. I know I "owe" quite a few e-mails and I will do my best to reply soon! Please don't think I've forgotten or that I'm ignoring anyone.

* Saturday, 2/2 Another P.S. I forgot to mention the beautiful crocheted pink tea cup and other fabulous items I won in Carmelina's 2000 Followers Giveaway! If you're not familiar with Carmelina, please stop by her blog. She is an amazing artist and all around lovely lady!

  2. I used to not be able to go to bed at night if one of the couch pillows was out of place, or if there was one dish left in the sink......now......not so much!

I still keep a tidy and organized home, but i'm definitely more relaxed.

    Ciao again.

  3. Hi Carmelina ~ Thank you so much for your comments! I'm so happy you are anxious to read my memoir!
And how funny about the letters in Margo's name!!

  4. I do agree that there is no such thing as being caught up, lol.

So glad everything seems to be coming together for the publication of your memoirs! How exciting.

  5. You are right, Becky, we never get caught up...not for long anyway. Supper is always in the wings of lunch even as we wash the plates, first thing after a clean bathtub, someone comes in and wrecks the clean, etc. etc. But you sound like you have things under control as much as possible!

  6. I haven't been caught up well. . .ever since I became a writer. :) Thank you for the kind words--I can't wait to read more about myself in the future. :) LOL Go get 'em, Becky!

  7. Who's going to care 5 years from now whether there was dust on the table? Having a publication in your hand, however, now that's a different matter.

How cool that you're moving ever closer to your goal!

  8. Ugh I can't keep up with my house, my family, mother-in-law duties, etc. You are not alone Becky. If you ever come to my house, please don't make it a surprise. My house will be a mess. Well, sort of. But, I'm so much more relaxed about those things than I used to be. Take care Becky.

  9. Becky, I'm so excited to learn your book will be published sooner rather than later!

You never fail to make me smile!

  10. So much stuff, so little interest in keeping it tidy lol.

  11. When my son comes back from visiting friends, he says, "You should have seen their house, Mom! It was just like ours." Everybody has too much going on these days to fritter time away in an effort to keep a house spotless.

  12. Life gets better when we stop worrying about folding clothes and dust bunnies...doesn't it? Congrats on your book's progress! I wish I could talk to you in person about how you make yourself plow through; I struggle to stay with it.
    C heers!

  13. I know you are dedicated and you succeed at what you do! I admire you, my friend. I just posted about the Month of Letters challenge. I'm going to take part in that again this year! It really made a difference in my life and I'm excited! Hugs!

  14. I hear you about the time thing - and about not cleaning... he he he. All I've been doing, until this evening, is homework!

  16. Brilliant. Once we accept that fact that we'll never get caught up, we can relax!

  17. I gave up on catching up long ago...no use torturing ourselves right? Now I just try to have a productive day and call it good.

  18. Hi there Becky. I am so happy and excited for you that your book, hopefully, will soon be published. How great will that feel?! That was a very good epiphany you had about the housework (or, rather, lack of it. Hee Hee!). Life's too short - there are so many things to do!

  19. It's true that we are never caught up. There's always something that needs to be done. Good news that more progress is being made toward getting your book published. How exciting!

  20. Hi Joyful ~ Thanks so much!

Hi Bookie ~ Yep, I realized years ago that being married to "The Ronald" and having a tidy house aren't possible! :)

Hi Margo ~ Thanks! And yes, I'll more glowing words about you in the near future!

Hey Pat ~ Thank you! That's a great comparison!! I MUCH rather have the book! And hey, if it sells enough, I'll be able to hire a house cleaner! LOL

Hi Myrna ~ I totally understand! And believe me, if I ever come to visit you....it won't be a surprise! I'd have to make sure you were going to be home before I traveled that far!! :)

Hi Mevely ~ Thank you! And I'm so glad my blog makes you smile!

Hi Delores ~ Yep! My sentiments exactly! :)

Hey Val ~ What a cute son you have!

Hi Debora ~ That's so true, especially the clothes part. I usually get them folded or hung up, whichever is needed, but then actually getting them put where they belong...now THAT'S that hard part! I wish we lived close to each other, too, and be able to talk. That would be awesome! We could always talk on the phone, but that wouldn't be the same would it?? I need to put a huge wall map of the US, Canada, and Europe....and put little pins on all the towns of my blog friends. I think that would be so cool to see where you all are!

Hi Diane ~ Thanks so much! And I admire YOU for doing the Month of Letters Challenge again. I'm not even going to try this year!

Hi Lynn ~ Thanks!! It's funny because the first time I read your comment, I read it too fast I guess, because I thought your last word was "housework"....and I thought....HUH?! LOL

  21. Hi Susan ~ Thank you very much! I'm so excited about winning Carmelina's beautiful handcrafted items...and about my book, too!

Hey Podso ~ You are so correct! :)

Hi Sue ~ Another woman with worldly advice!

Hey Diane ~ How lovely to hear from you! I've missed you, but I know I haven't been good at stopping at your blog, either. Thank you for always being such a sweetie!

Hi Daisy ~ Thank you! I can only think that y'all will be glad when I stop talking about it, though!

  22. OMG!!! You won it? That is awesome. I know it was meant to be.

Glad your book is just that much closer to publication. That is nice of your friend to format it for you, Becky.

  27. Never caught up? Yep, so true. I let things go a lot quicker now than I ever used to, and I'm a lot happier for it! I've also come to believe that some things are better left unknown. I used to feel like I *had* to get to the bottom of things, *had* to get answers, *had* to know the who's, whys, and whats of everything that came my way. Now, though? Not so much. So, yes, emotional baggage has to be left on the curb, too. Who's got the time or energy to deal with all that stuff anymore? I think everyone's better off letting a few things go.

    Yay for epiphanies :)

  30. I never get caught up. I do what I must to keep the house reasonably clean and tidy but it often isn't! It feels like Groundhog Day,doing housework and I find it boring even though
