* NOSTALGIC SUNDAY *

It's Time for Another Nostalgic Sunday

Where has the time gone? It's been four weeks since my previous Nostalgic Sunday, and seven weeks since we moved. Along with the unpacking and deciding what goes where, The Ronald and I have also come across items that we "brought along" that really "don't belong." So....more trips to Goodwill. (I really like the newest one in our area. It has a Drive Up & Drop Off Door!)

It's been interesting how I've felt about giving away and/or selling furniture and decorative items that used to mean a lot to me. This move has been much more than just a physical move. It's also been serendipitous.

I've taken time to sit on our deck, enjoying the beautiful trees and flowering bushes as they sway in the breezes.......and the birds chirping back and forth with their loud conversations.....and to almost meditate about life....the past, present, and future.

And that, of course, brings the memories from the past, and thoughts about my memoir. I still have no definite publication date, but I can assure anyone who is interested, that it WILL be sometime fairly soon.

I've always proclaimed that patience is not one of my virtues, but during the past couple of years, I've learned to at least accept the concept of patience!

Ahhh, and here's a bit of nostalgia to share!

    1. Chatty, how wonderful to see your lovely face in my comments! I'll e-mail you later, okey dokey?

  2. Hi Becky. Good to see you. I always enjoy your Nostalgic Sunday posts. Like Chatty (Sandie), I'm also wondering why you moved, and did you move very far from your old home. (Nothing like being nosy, is it?!).Like you, I have very little patience, and I know that it is a failing of mine. Hopefully you will get your memoir printed sooner rather than later, and, yes, I would be interesting in reading your book. I do find that the older I'm getting, the less certain things mean to me. Even nice little pieces that I have collected over the years. Strange really, isn't it. Anyway, enjoy sitting on your deck and listening to the birdsong. It all sounds lovely.

    1. Hi thisisme! It's also wonderful to see YOUR lovely face here! We only moved a few miles from our other house (we really like the area!)and we wanted to downsize...so NO you are NOT being nosy!! :)
You and I are so much alike in our personalities! I have a dream to travel A LOT someday. I don't say "I wish I could"...but I say that "I will!"....and your beautiful country will definitely be one of them!

    1. Hi Bookie! I'm so excited to see such special people leaving me comments! And again....It's also wonderful to see YOUR lovely face here!
We were "supposed" to have complete sunshine all weekend, and hot and humid. We've had more clouds than sun....and it's a bit hot and humid this afternoon...storms coming here, too.
I know how much you enjoy being on your deck, too, when the weather permits. Have a wonderful week! (in spite of whatever weather comes along!)

    Ha!-Ha! Well, that's a start, anyway.

You know what they say, Becky: "The journey of a thousand days begins with one second." (That IS what they say, isn't it? I'd look it up to see if I got it right, but I haven't time for that!)

    1. Well, another absolute favorite person in my comment section: Mr. Stephen T!! I WOULD say it's wonderful to also see YOUR face here...but I can't! :)
Glad you like my feelings about Patience!
And your journey quote is a good one...but I did think it was something about "begins with a single step"...? Whichever is "correct," they're both good!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

  5. Sorry, no face for me. Pardon me for being so presumptuous in hoping I'm a favorite person. It doesn't seem like THAT long since your last Nostalgic Sunday! Good to see Opie, Andy, and Aunt Bea (or AINT BEE as Andy pronounced it) back at the top.

      >>... or AINT BEE as Andy pronounced it

You are obviously a person who knows their Andy Griffith shows (making you my kind of person).

My Brother, his wife and son (we all live together), have decided they want the little dog that our neighbor across the street is giving away. The pup will probably be under our roof tomorrow. And my Brother has already given the pup a name: OPIE.

We almost always stick with a TAGS (The Andy Griffith Show) theme - e.g., ALL of our Email addresses have had a TAGS connection, etc.

    2. Val, although you don't have a face to show....I certainly know it is YOU! And yes, you are another lovely, wonderful, favorite person....just like all my other comment people!
And I agree with Stephen T.....you are definitely an Andy Griffith gal!

  6. Becky, we have sitting outside and meditating in common! It soothes my soul. I bet there is a lot to think about with a move and new chapter in life.

By the way, I keep looking for a dial phone for my office-- love them.

    1. Hi Julie...as with the others...you are another wonderful, lovely, favorite person to see here! Yes, we have lots in common. I love your words "it soothes my soul" Perfect! And you're so right about all I have to think about....I LOVE rotary phones, too! Especially a Pink Princess Phone. I've wanted one all my life.....guess it's about time to buy myself one, huh?! :)
I've seen lots of rotary phones on e-bay and etsy. What style and color do you want??!! :)

  7. Outside is always good. And when you add the conversations of the birds it is bliss.
Patience? I don't have time for that.
And add me to the list of people who is really, really looking forward to reading your memoir. Did I say I am really looking forward to it?

  8. I hope you're all settled into your new place now. You're smart to take the downsizing path. The only way I can imagine getting rid of all the "stuff" around here is if we move to a place too small to put it. (I keep trying to convince our kids that they want to take some of these treasures home with them, but they refuse to bite, doggone it.) Oh well. Like I told ya before, I finally upgraded from the original '60s avocado green range top and hood last year, so I reckon we'll just have to stay put.

And yeah! I care. Get that book out there, lady! Move it, move it, move it!

    2. Hey Susan! I tried to "Reply" at the end of your comment, but the old machine wouldn't let me. I remember you telling me about wishing you could downsize, too. But that you've lived in your house for-ever! And yes, I love it that you upgraded your appliances a bit....but hey, those colors will probably be IN next year! :)
And so glad you are ready to read my book, too! Just like Mr. Stephen T....the minute I read "Move it, move it, move it!"....I thought of Gomer Pyle and Sergeant Carter!

    3. P.S. Dear, dear Susan....I was discombooberated when I tried to reply to you....and totally forgot to say that YOU, too, are another wonderful, lovely, favorite person to see here! :)

  9. It's interesting how we have a different opinion about some of our things when they are in a new place. Maybe it's a gradual way of letting go of things. But yes, a time of reflection. The things in my house all have stories connected with them, and the stories are probably what makes me want to hold on to things! Glad you are getting all settled.

    1. Hello Podso! It is such fun seeing familiar, truly missed faces! And...another wonderful, lovely, favorite person to see here! :)
I love your thoughts about our "things" -- Maybe it's a gradual way of letting go of things. I really believe it takes aging and maturing (for most of us) to realize that we don't NEED "things" in our life! I took pictures of a couple of items that I really liked, and chose to give away. That way, I'll always "have" them!

  12. It's good to get rid of all of the old stuff that's weighing us down. Some wise person I can't remember once said, "Don't fill your walls with photos of the past. Leave room in your life (and on your walls) for the future." Glad your enjoying the new place.

    1. Hey Debora!! Another wonderful, lovely, favorite person to see! I truly felt the physical weight lifted and banished from my shoulders as soon as we moved here. There was more than just "things" bringing me down...
I love the quote, too! It's so true!
