"Funny the way life's trials and tribulations can make you laugh out loud when they're happening to Becky Povich. In her memoir, From Pigtails to Chin Hairs, Becky recalls a life's journey not always funny, to be sure, but told always with a wry bemusement that charms and delights. A wonderfully engaging story of the heroine next door."

"If you wish to step back in time and enjoy memories of the period, this book is what you need. Take your time with it, though, because you don't want to read it fast. Each paragraph is a deja vu, a throwback to a simpler time. Povich captures smells, experiences, innovations, and the way parenting used to be. Food, travel, playing outside till dinner. There's so much rich material here you can't digest it at once. Enjoyable read."

* It's My Birthday *

¯Today is my birthday.....it's your birthday, too, yeah! ¯

I happen to know that my blog friend, Rachel Cotterill's birthday is also today! Happy birthday, Rachel!

And, my writer/voice talent/stage director/and more..., friend: Heather Elizabeth Lynn Farrar's birthday is also today! Happy birthday, Heather!

(And for a bit of fun, here are some celebrities who also share my birthday: Loretta Young, Danny Thomas, Carl Sandburg, Khalil Gibran, Capucine, Howie Long, Bonnie Franklin, AND Pepe Le Pew!)

  8. Funny, media may tell me I should fear birthdays-- especially this year's (it's the big 5-0), but I love them. I love the chance to celebrate aging, wisdom, a different definition of beauty and the joys of experience. Happy birthday, Becky!

    1. Hi Julie! Thank you very much. What a wonderful way to look at birthdays. I've never thought of mine in those words, but I do love celebrating them, and knowing that I'm not really getting older, I'm just becoming more aware of who I'm supposed to be. (Kind of like the quote by Lynn Hall in the blog header.)
