* I JUST CAN'T BLOG TODAY *

I had planned to blog about other things today: writerly topics, humorous subjects, etc.

but my mind won't let me. I can't stop thinking about my cousin's daughter who

collapsed at her work yesterday and died. She was approximately 50 years old, or

younger.

*I just found out Hilary's birthday was in a couple of weeks.....she would have been only 42 years old.

An autopsy is being performed.....

She was a doctor and died right there at the hospital (I think) where she worked. They

all live on the East Coast.....Boston and New York. That's why I don't really know her

daughters , and I don't see my cousin very often, but we e-mail, etc. She and her

husband came to town to visit us about a year ago. Such a shock.....
~~~
I hope to be back tomorrow. Until then, stay safe, and tell your family and friends that you love them. Don't let another moment go by......
  2. It always hits us so hard when someone that young just up and dies on us...no warning...we are still in disbelief about our neighbour passing on and it's been a year now. I am so sorry for your loss and for her families loss. Gentle, healing thoughts headed your way.
  4. Becky, sorry for your cousin and the whole family including you. Know the shock and sorrow you feel. We don't know have to see people often to have them in our hearts, to have a shared history with them. When my cousin died a few weeks ago, I had not seen her in 14 years...yet nothing removed our childhood memories. Each day is precious and these kind of reminders try to keep that before us when they happen.
  6. That's terribly sad. I'm sorry for you and your family - a terrible shock for all. Grieving is important so give yourself the time and space to share the love of your family and help each other through this tragic time.
  7. Aw Becky, what an awful turn of events. I'm sorry.
    When I began to wake this morning, right away my mind began ticking off my obligations ... rehearing roles I needed to play in the coming hours. Not once did it occur to me that every hour is a gift and could be taken away in a trice. Thank you for sharing your family's story as a reminder to us all.
    1. Myra, thank you for your beautiful words. It really is hard for us to not take our lives for granted, isn't it? I don't know why....just human nature I guess. We never think bad or sad things will happen to US....those things only happen to OTHER people...Thank you again for being such a sweet friend.
    1. Hi Keith -- thank you so much! You're a sweetie. And I just realized I called you "Kevin" when I replied to your comment on my "June is Busting Out All Over" blog post. I'm so sorry! My brain just goes wacky every now and then. At least I got the first letter right, huh?! Maybe you could add your name to your blog title....for people like me! You know...."Keith, The Optimistic Existentialist"
  14. My friend's ER doc son did the same a couple of years ago, collapsed at a hotel gym and died of heart issues. He was seemingly healthy.
    Although it was later found that he had a silent heart condition, sometimes I think the grueling schedule of medical school damages a person's health.
    So sorry to hear this news, Becky. Praying for you and your family.
    1. Hi Sue, thank you very much! I hadn't thought of that, but it is understandable. I'm very curious to hear the autopsy report, if my cousin shares the info with us.
  15. Dear Becky, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My husband is a retired doctor and I can attest to the stresses surrounding doctors at work. We also had a friend collapse at her job, also in her 50's...a shock to everyone (cause unknown). It happens, but when it occurs in your own family it is shattering news. Stay well and know you are my prayers. Warmly, Vickie
  16. Oh, very sad. And it's always worse when it happens suddenly and unexpectedly, so no one has an opportunity to say goodbye and to tell how much they care.
    What a shame and what a shock for the family.
  18. So sorry to hear this. I had a similar tragedy happen to me when I was working in CA
    My 32 yearl old boss came to work and literally dropped dead sitting at her desk. It was such a shock. Her heart just stopped. She was in the prime of her life, just found her true love and was planning a wedding.
    You are so right. NEVER put off telling those you care for that you love them.
    Again I am so sorry to hear this. May God be with all of her family and friends through this tragedy. Big hugs
