* DO YOU LIKE TO READ IN THE BATH TUB? *

found on Google on various sites

I've never been able to understand how anyone can possibly read a book while soaking in a bath tub...and actually enjoy it! I tried it a time or two, always with unfavorable results. Maybe I should point out first that I don't even LIKE to take baths. I much prefer showers.

Even if you have a "book holder," what about turning pages? Aren't your fingers wet? And after you've been reading for a while, don't you want to get out of that lukewarm, or actually COLD water??

Call me nutty, but I just can't imagine that being a comfy, relaxing way to read.

SO, when I came across the above photo, I thought to myself, I've just GOT to find someone to make one of these for me! (and for it to NOT cost a fortune!) Since I'm so short, I'm sure I would fit nicely in it!

And it would be similar to a window seat which is something I've always wanted. I remember watching a TV show or movie, many years ago, as in my childhood, where a teenage girl lounged on a window seat cushion, eating a red apple, and reading a hardcover book! (yeah, that had quite an impact on me!) So, it was one of those material things I dreamed about and longed for that never happened.

Nowadays I have a daybed near a window and that would be such a close equivalent...but for now it's one of Vern's beds! Actually, when we moved into our condo, we placed the mattress directly on the carpet, so Vern could take just one step, and voila'. Previously, he'd have to get a running start and jump up onto the bed. So, it is HIS bed until the sad time arrives when it is no longer needed.

This was taken at the townhouse, when Vern was still able to jump up onto the bed.

What about you? Baths or showers?
Reading while in one or the other? J

Happy Monday, everyone! Have a beautiful, blissful, "autumnly" kind of week!

  1. Showers; I do think that bathtub sofa looks attractive and comfy.

  2. These days I can't take a bath (because I can't get out of it). So showers. Which I always preferrred for cleanliness.
Reading in the bath can be a treat. Hot water topped up at need. A beverage. And a trashy comfort read book which can cope with the odd water mark.

  3. Since I'm olden, I would never be able to get out of the tub and I sure don't want the paramedics to look at this old body LOL. I loved baths, but not to read in. I have also wanted a window seat to sit and read or doze.

I have signed up to follow your blogs. I am so happy that you found me and that you like my blogs. It is so nice to meet you. Maybe by me signing up for your blogs it will be easier to open my blogs.

We have had autumn for a couple of days, but I understand that by the weekend it will be almost 100 again.
Have a wonderful week and nice to meet you.
    Hugs,
    Mary

  4. Well, I actually have a really nice jet tub. I used to like to soak in it, in it steaming hot water, while I meditated. I did read a few times but that was cumbersome. I take my showers daily and would like to enjoy my tub. But lately, it's so hard for me to get in and out of it that it goes unnoticed, unnused much of the time. Baths for me are a treat. Showers keep me clean.

  5. I'm a shower girl all the way. I think it hearkens back to my daddy who used to say of baths, "Why would anyone want to soak in their own dirt?" lol That painted quite the mental picture in my brain, and I never quite cut it loose. :)

  6. I used to love to read in the bathtub! DId it all the time. Then I moved on to showers and rarely take one. Your daybed by a window would be a nice place to read and curl up!

  7. Maybe in a HOT TUB, but never in a bathtub. Been there, done that with bad results.

  8. Hey everyone! Thanks so much for stopping and commenting! And a big thank you to Mary, my new follower! I still can't seem to leave a comment on your blog, Mary, which is weird...but Blogger does do weird things sometimes. AND, I couldn't even leave a "regular comment" here on my own blog until I changed the setting for comments to be a Pop Up Window, like this. For years, I've had it where you scroll down and voila...you can leave a comment. Anyone else having any problems like this???

  9. I'm not a bath taker. Maybe I would be if I had one of those fancy jet-propelled ones, but it would be more to soak than wash. I can't get out of my mind a comment made decades ago by my home economics teacher. "Why would you want to sit in water filled with your own dirt?" Ugh.

  12. I now have to do showers, since like some of the others have stated, I just can't get up when I get down...I read on the Lazy-Boy recliner. My Reading Corner blog shows a picture of my Reading Corner today and talks about it.

    1. Hi Becky,

I love this post and the idea of the bath couch in the image above. Truth be told, it's one of my favorite places to curl up to a good read!
