* HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THIS?! *

Ron and I enjoyed the lovely weather today, sitting on our patio. It was quite a bit cooler than yesterday, when we had a record high temp of 80+ degrees! But it was beautiful and I was comfy with a lightweight jacket.

I've always loved "sky-watching," being awed by clouds, jet contrails, birds in flight, sunrises, sunsets, the moon, and stars, etc.

Looking almost straight up at one point, I spotted a section of a rainbow curving over the top of a huge cloud! I haven't searched for any information about this yet, but all I could think at the time was that cloud must have a lot of moisture inside it!

I honestly didn't think my little cell phone camera would capture it, but I'm thrilled that it did! (If you click on the photo, you can see a much larger view of it.)

Have you ever seen a rainbow like this?!

  1. How amazing. I have never seen anything like it. Too many rainbows would be barely enough.

    1. Thanks, Sue! I'd never seen anything like it, either. And, you really ARE a writer: "Too many rainbows would be barely enough."....Extraordinary words!

  2. Look up Sun Dog online. Sun dogs (or sundogs), mock suns or phantom suns, scientific name parhelia (singular parhelion), are an atmospheric phenomenon that consists of a pair of bright spots on either horizontal side on the Sun, often co-occurring with a luminous ring known as a 22° halo. (thank you wiki!) There are lots of images. I have a great photo of one at sunset and it looks like two sunsets!

    1. Hi Jeanie! I just recently heard about sundogs when my nephew's girlfriend posted a photo on Facebook. I was enchanted! Never heard of them before, or seen them. That is so cool that you actually saw one and took a picture! Thanks for all the info!

  3. No, haven't seen. Glad you enjoyed the outside. Hope you are out today too as the cold and a four letter word (snow) are coming in from the west!

  4. Hi Claudia! We don't have any snow in our forecast (I just looked!) but of course that really doesn't mean anything! Hope you don't get any....but at least if you do, you know it's not going to stay!
