Today, July 28th, is my oldest son Scott's birthday. About 5 weeks ago, when he was in England on business, his appendix burst and he required emergency surgery. I posted about him quite often during those days and weeks of worry. I remember thinking then that it was possible he may not be alive when his birthday arrived this year. It's still hard to believe what all he went through, and all of it being so far from home & family. I'm so very grateful that he is indeed here, to celebrate his birthday, in 2010.
Scott and me the night before he left for London.
This is Scott at Stonehenge on June 21st.
The next day, he was in the hospital.

This picture was taken the same day. He was proudly showing where he lost a tooth.
I was newly divorced that summer and the two of us lived in a tiny apartment, but he knew his mom loved him soooo much!

Happy birthday to your son, Becky. Your experience makes us all remember to enjoy and cherish life every day.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs x
Happy Birthday Scott! It is good his surgery went well and he is there to celebrate with you!! Enjoy him!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellie and Terri! I do try to remember to cherish every single day, but as we all know, sometimes the busy-ness of life tends to get in the way. We just have to reel ourselves back in, shake off the dust, and jump back in...noticing and enjoying everything! Have a blissful day!
ReplyDeleteHello Becky...Hope Scott has a wonderful birthday! So glad he has a great mom, too. Susan

ReplyDeleteThank you Bee and Rose, and Chatty! I'm so glad your husband survived his burst appendix! It really can be a very dangerous thing. I'm sure Scott had a good birthday. We'll be doing something Friday with him and his family....probably go out to lunch or dinner! I'll also have all the family over sometime in August, to celebrate the May-June-July birthdays! Thanks to everyone, again. I'm really overwhelmed with everyone's thoughtfulness!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Scott! wonderful to see pictures of your family and so glad you GET it!!! life is about living deliberately and, cherishing every moment
ReplyDeleteI love stuff like this, because it reminds me that my son isn't going to be this age (4) forever and that although time flies by, we moms get to hold on to the love and the memories from these early years.
ReplyDeleteLove to both of you today and every day! Happy belated birthday to Scott!
Hey Tammy, Jenny, Sandy, Green Monkey, and Lora. Thank you all very much. As you all know, being a mom is a life-long job, and the love never ends.
