Contest Update: There's still plenty of time to post your comment(s) on whether you've ever made homemade bread or not. If you haven't read about the contest, go to my post of Saturday, February 13th, see how easy it is to enter and you could possibly be the winner of a wonderful, autographed book, by Judith Ryan Hendricks! And remember, you may post 2 separate comments, which gives you twice the chance to win! (Contest ends at midnight this Friday, February 19th.)
More Judith Ryan Hendricks News: If you've read the first 2 books in the Bread Alone Series, you'll be thrilled to hear that she is currently writing the 3rd book in that series. The tentative title is: Baker's Blues. (No publication date yet.) AND, in the next few days or weeks, I will post an interview with Judi right here on my blog! More about that later.
Erma Bombeck Contest: I checked on the status of the entries at Erma Bombeck Writer's Workshop and it said to expect results in mid-March. Gosh. I don't think I can hold my breath that long. Especially when I keep hearing to b-r-e-a-t-h-e, in order to get into my Writing Zone so I can write, write, write my book!
Tiny-Lights Essay Contest: Don't forget to get your entries in the mail and post marked by this Friday, February 19th. (Snail mail only.) Some great winning dollars there and Susan Bono is a fabulous person And, I'm not just saying that because I work for her! Tiny-Lights Contest

Thanks for the reminders, Becky! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Did you submit something to either contest? Good luck to you, too!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to hear that Judith has another book in the works. She is a wonderful writer.
ReplyDeleteI entered the Erma Bombeck contest too, so I'm biting my nails with you!
Very exciting about Judith's new book...and your upcoming interview! Oh, and I like your coffee cup!! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links, Becky. I submitted to the Erma Bombeck contest too. Best of luck to you! Glad to hear you are keeping motivated to write.
ReplyDeleteOh Hello! Janel, Tammy and Daisy! Thanks for stopping by! It's great that so many of us entered Erma's contest! I would be thrilled if any of my writer buddies won!! Or received honorable mention! And yes, Tammy, I thought you'd like the coffee cup!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Becky,
ReplyDeleteLots of good stuff on your blog today. Thanks for all the information.
Donna
Hi Donna! Thank you, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to know another book is coming in the future. I have read them all, but I missed the bread theme in the book set in the southwest. Glad she is returning to it.
ReplyDeleteI have made bread, on and off, for years, including many mistakes! Some loaves never rose and could have been used as hockey pucks! But when it works, nothing is better and warm bread with melted butter--unless you consider toast with butter and jam. Toast and tea is definely comfort food!!
Thanks, Claudia! I, too, have been longing for another "bread" book by Judith! And I've had the same experiences as you. I haven't made the "real" homemade white bread in many years, but when I did, I'd have an awful time getting the water temperature JUST RIGHT...for success...or failure! I'm definitely going to give it a try again, though, one of these days soon.
ReplyDeleteI can only say that I have attempted to make bread. I was given a bread machine as a wedding gift and on the first try, I must have left out some crucial ingredient (yeast? flour?) I don't know but I spent the entire afternoon cleaning gunk out of the machine. I had no finished product and my kitchen smelled horrible!
