* Thoughts on a Sunday Night...uh Monday a.m. *

(photo courtesy: creative writing degree abroad jpg)

Yesterday I attended the monthly meeting of Saturday Writers. We had a bit of an "Open Mic" session and I read one of my short newspaper columns from a couple of years ago. It was well received which obviously made me happy.

I also belong to Coffee & Critique, which meets every Tuesday morning. Most times, we stick around and have lunch, thus more "writer talk".

Being around other writers is a big piece of the pie that makes up my life. Listening to them read their writing...listening to others read my writing, receiving helpful suggestions and wonderful compliments.....Just talking about everything in the writing and publishing world... That's what helps motivate me to keep at it. I come away from these get-togethers all charged up and ready to take on the world.....ready to finish my book....my Best Seller!! Hey, it's MY dream.....and I'm reaching for the stars!

I've wondered off and on....what the heck did I used to think about....before my passion for writing presented itself and took over? Well, one big thing person, was Mark, my youngest son! Now that he is a grown man.....no, that can't be right.....my child-rearing days are gone, and I can focus on other things.

Ah...I'm beginning to ramble. Anyway, I just want to say how much all my writer friends mean to me, whether near or far. The wonderful people I've met through my blog this past year, also mean the world to me. It's fun and heartwarming knowing you're "out there" and we're sharing our thoughts and dreams, talents and treasures.

  1. Love your post, Becky!
I understand this perfectly, and I love that you can meet up with your writer friends in person.
That must be great, an actual interaction between writers :)

All the wonderful writer friends I have online are such a blessing!
I sometimes feel like I'm all alone here, so far from them as my real life friends aren't really into reading, much less writing.

  10. Becky, I love that you do all this. You are surely on a path for success with your writing...as you've shown by your current propensity to succeed with your writing.

    Hmmm...

    Big word there!

I'm going to fix your link now.

Can't wait to read your SC!

  11. Hi Estrella! Thank you. I'm so glad we bloggers do have each other! I'm sorry your friends aren't into reading or writing. I know how that can feel. A "previous" friend of mine loved to read, but for some very odd reason, she would NEVER compliment me or my writing. Notice, the word "previous"! I decided I was worth way more as a friend, and a person, than to have someone like that bring me down. It's been smooth and happy sailing ever since! I hope you will find some local writer friends, to add to your "regular" friends!! :)

  15. Hello! becky!

i love this photo, first of all..there is something so wonderfully yummy about seeing a book or journal with a pair of reading glasses...ahh...writer's bliss!

I would find it amazing to 'have my writing read' and to share that with others...

that's sort of what blogging does for me, only I don't get into any meaty writing really. but short little sentiments here and there...

i write each day, because I need to...it's something inexplicable from deep within me that needs to come out! do you follow what I'm saying?
    do you feel the same?

come by for a spot of tea

    ciao bella
    happy tuesday!

  16. Hi Rose and Ann! Thank you both for stopping by and leaving comments! Yes, we writers are a strange breed! And writing IS such a passion! I used to wonder what people were talking about when they said So & So is my passion! I'd just think, "huh?"....After I realized I was a writer...then I GOT IT!! :D

  17. Hi Carmelina! Thank you so much! First of all, I wish I could say I took that photo, but I guess you saw I gave credit to the site I found it on. BUT, that gave me a wonderful idea!! I'm going to make my own little setting, of a book, glasses, plus a lovely tea cup and doilie maybe, and then photograph that!!
And yes, I TOTALLY understand how you feel the NEED to write! I am the same, and I'm pretty sure all serious writers are, too.
