** Wonderful Wednesday **

Originally I was going to post a lot of different information this evening, but time got away from me (how does that happen, exactly?) One reason is that our electricity was out for some time, most likely due to all the air conditioners running on TILT!  It went off around 7:55 pm and came back on at 9:30 with a blast of lights and TV noise! I rather enjoyed the quiet and candle lit rooms for awhile. I even have a little transitor radio I listened to for a short time, but that, too, got old....

So, I'll wait until tomorrow to share various tidbits of news. Until then, wherever you are, I hope you are staying as cool as you possibly can.

“What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance” -- Jane Austen

  1. It's been hot and humid for weeks in South West England, which never happens! I hate the humidity - it doesn't do my skin or hair any good!

  2. Losing electricity in this weather is not fun!

I loved the cartoon. Wish I could do that to my neighbors' chickens. Stupid rooster woke me up at 5:15 this morning!

  3. Ah, yes, when the electricity is off, we're suddenly thrown back to our parents' childhood when there was no electricity at all or even our own childhood when no one we knew had air conditioning. I can remember some pretty bad heat spells in the 1950's when temps rose over 100 for days in Northeast Pennsylvania. Too hot to sleep and no place to get cool.

  4. The news has been telling us how miserably hot it is in your neck of the woods. It must have been horrible without A/C!

It gets hot where we live, but it isn't humid, and cools down at night. We have A/C in the cars, but not in our house...we would only really need it about 2 days a year.

    Hang in there, Becky!

  5. That's sort of scary that you lost electricity *because you needed it*!!! Oh and Miss Becky, how I lovelovelove that Jane Austen quote!!!

  6. I too am in a constant state of inelegance. That's my problem - I just didn't know how to state it!

  7. OH! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that quote by Jane Austen. It is a bit on the hot and humid side here in Iowa also, but so far we haven't lost the electric. I will be looking for the tidbits of news. Stay Cool.

  8. We've had a cooler than normal summer here in California. I surely don't envy you the extreme heat. I at the age where I wilt easily.

  10. Hi Ellie, Janel, Clara, Kathy, Tammy, Chatty(Sandie!), Gramma Ann, Sue and Daisy! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave your wonderful comments. And Clara, I remember some of those terribly hot summers in the 1950s. We didn't have a/c then, but most of our neighbors didn't either, so we didn't know we were suffering so much! :D

  11. Georgia is always hot and humid in the summer, but this year has been exceptionally hot. Please remind me of this in January when I'm complaining of the cold! :P
