** Friday Night Lights **

No, not the television show. Just a random title. Because I have De-Light-Ful tidbits to share!

* First of all, I want to mention Ellie Garratt's competition! Check out Ellie's blog and read all about her exciting publication news. In honor of that, she is having a contest which goes until September 21st. (And if her blog looks similar to mine, it's because we both have the same background...Books!

* When going through some papers on my credenza today, I came across a couple of pages I had printed some time ago. They have very good book marketing info, but I have no idea where I found them! I forgot to include the writer/blogger's name. AND, I have Parts One and Two, of a Three Parter! The title is: Pre Published - Lay the Foundation. Sound familiar to anyone?? Well....today, I did one of the things that was suggested. I joined Goodreads and Library Thing. They are both free. I didn't post much info, but will from time to time, I guess. The important thing is what the author of this article says: "You may not think you have the time, but if you drop in once a week for a few minutes you'll learn the ropes and meet people." ALSO, "Once you have the "go ahead" and your book has its final title, go to Goodreads and apply for an author page. They must approve it, but it's pretty easy."  I loved getting these tips, because although I think I'm pretty good at marketing, I hadn't heard of these and there's always new things to learn!

* Does your keyboard have letters that are practically worn off? Or have nicks, dents or scratches in them? I noticed recently that my laptop has 3 keys which are really nicked, due to my finger nails: "A", "S", and the Left Shift Key. Obviously, I use them a lot! I find it strange that I don't have the same condition on any of the right hand keys. Obviously, it must have to do with the way my fingers hit the keys!

* I have found that since being in The Zone, I almost feel compelled to rewrite 75% of my book! I read some of the older stuff, and think, "Wow, is that ever bad!" We shall see what happens.....At this moment, I'm just going to keep going from where I am! Forging Ahead!

Tomorrow I'll post about the 5 books I recently purchased AND give the details of my September Contest!

  2. I don't think I've ever worn the letters off my keyboard, but I've made it so one or more of the keys doesn't quite work right.

  3. Keyboards are a bear to replace on a laptop, but this one is on it's last legs. Being from the South, I think the comma key is going to go first lol. Thanks for the tips on the two sites, I'm going to check them out. Kat

  4. Sounds like you are where I am with my book--rewriting! I hope you are happier as I am:) Had to come back over and read that quote to my husband.

  5. I always think how horrible stuff is that I've already written. I've read that it is quite common to think this.

  6. Becky, one thing that I learned from NaNoWriMo, is keep writing...keep moving forward. Get to the end before you go back and start doing any revising.

  7. My laptop is too new to have any of the keys wore off, but my last one had a sticky key. I'm pretty sure it was the result of pounding on the keyboard and that key's "switch" was shot. Whatever the cause - it was annoying!

  8. hehehe. the only keys on my keyboard which are NOT worn off are: QWYUIPJZX.
All my punctuation keys and number keys are still intact. enter and shift are pretty well-worn, as well as the space bar. interesting to take note of this.

  10. I've been writing a book for longer than I care to share. Everytime I rewrite, my inner critic tells me it's probably not good, not worth it, etc... I often listen to my inner critic, unfortunately.
But, now I want to listen to you. Your energy is infectious, and thank you for sharing so much information.

  11. I have had some smudgie letters on a keyboard before. This is my new lappie so no wear and tear yet!

  12. Becky: just keep writting! don't wear the editor's hat just yet until you are done - everything you write at a certain moment has a purpose and the words have the intention of what you were feeling at the time. Can't wait to read it!

  13. Hi Claudia ~ Thanks! Aren't we busy little typists?..keyboardists?

Hi Sue ~ Uh...did you have a little hissy fit or something? :D

Hi Kat ~ Gosh, I didn't even know you could replace a keyboard on a laptop. I say, just buy a new one! :D Let me know if you liked the 2 sites!

Hi Terri ~ No, I'm not at the rewriting stage yet. That was a fleeting thought. I'm just moving forward, for now! Sounds like maybe you ought to print that quote for your hubby!

Hi Nessa ~ Yes, I know that's true. We writers are supposed to be quite the neurotic type! :o

Hi Pat ~ Yes, oh so true! Thanks for the reminder.

Hi Janel ~ Hmmm...another writer having a little fit?!

Hi Karen ~ LOL. Thanks! And yes, I'm finding all the comments really interesting!

Hi Myrna ~ As much as I've enjoyed reading all these comments, YOURS is the absolute best one!! Thank you so very much! Gosh, how nice! And you just keep writing and don't listen to that negative, old inner self!!

Hi Linda ~ Oh, how wonderful that you have a new laptop! Yay for you!

Hi OJ ~ Wow! Another great piece of advice! I can't get over how many wonderful friends I have "out there" cheering me on!

  14. Try a glass of wine (or a chocolate bar) and that 75% might look better...(ha)

  16. I've worn out the letters, too. Good thing I don't have to look at them to know what they are!

  17. Funny you mentioned the worn letters. I'm missing my "N" even though the others are all fine. I agree with Pat--forge ahead!

  18. The c is gone on mine. Have you ever used a curved key board - I love it. sandie

  19. Hey Sioux ~ Thanks for the tips..but I don't think either of those things would work...I just need a twitching nose like Samatha, I guess!

Hi Ellie! ~ You are so welcome!

Hi Lisa ~ Yeah, isn't that the truth? I wonder what other people do that just "hunt and peck"?!

Hi Tam ~ Thanks! And yes, I'm forging ahead! :)

Hi Chatty ~ No, I've never tried a curved keyboard. They looked so odd when I first saw them and told myself I could never get used to one! I haven't seen them lately, though, come to think of it.

I'm still getting quite a few spam comments that are Anonymous, so I'm trying "User with Google Accounts." If anyone tries to comment that I know, and it won't let you, send me an email, okay? Thanks so much.
