* Nostalgic Sundays *

It's time for another Nostalgic Sunday.

Who remembers this TV show and board game? I loved both! I thought it was so neat that the contestants could actually walk on the "game board" set up in the studio. And so, I just had to have the game. I think I bought it with my allowance!

How about this game? Ever heard of or played this one?
The only times I've ever seen it or played it was with my cousins in Colorado. That was another one of our summer vacation destinations. They lived in the country and there wasn't much of anything to do but play card games and board games. This was my favorite because it has little plastic milk bottles, slabs of cheese, etc. What fond memories!

What about you? Do you have fond memories of board games? And were any of them just played during vacation, or just at certain homes?

  1. The game box looks familiar, but I've never played it. I used to love Operation. "Take out wrenched ankle!" The commercial made it look so enticing. We played Pit with my cousins. It often turned violent. Neither are board games. Monopoly ruled the boards.

  2. Val, this is so funny! You and I must've been leaving comments to each other at the same time!
    I also liked Operation, but it was too stressful for me! oohh, touch the edge and ....Zing...buzz, buzz! I hadn't thought of Pit in a long time. I LOVED that card game too. My older sister, brother and I would play it and laugh ourselves silly....(uh..no violence!)

  3. Clue was probably our favorite family board game. On Sunday afternoons, we played pinochle (I don't think I remember how anymore).

    Twister and Mystery Date were games I played with my friends.

  4. I remember Twister and Monopoly. Mostly, we played cards like Old Widow and Rook

  5. Have never seen either of the two games on your post. Monopoly was the usual, but I don't have the patience for it anymore. Wonder what readers' favorite pieces are? I liked the shoe. And the thimble.

  6. I still hate playing Monopoly because it takes forever! My brother and I played card games, Crazy Eights, Old Maid, Go Fish and War.

  7. Hi June, Patricia, Marcia & Linda! The 2 old games I wrote about weren't necessarily the ones I played the most...they were ones that I hadn't thought of in years, and when I did, brought instant memories. At home, we played Clue, Sorry, and Monopoly.(I now despise Monopoly!) And card games: Old Maid, Fish, War, Rummy, Crazy Eights. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, too.

  8. I don't remember those. When I was a kid, we played Candy Land and Life, and Monopoly, of course (which I detested because I always lost and it took. So. Dang. Long!) LOL And Clue and Parcheesi were two more favorites.

  11. Becky, I just love the graphics on old game boxes. Thtese are some great boxes, but I don't remember either of these games. I do remember that that buzzer in Operation made me a nervous ninny! I remember Candyland and a lot of card games. Nowadays, if its not on video, my grands don't know about it. Kind of sad. laurie

    Hi Laurie! I'm glad to hear you didn't care for that buzzing on Operation, either! :)
