Poetic Song Lyrics....Not!

While driving to the grocery store this afternoon, with my list of fruits and veggies to buy, the following words popped into my head. I've mentioned before that I am not a poet, and don't y'all know it, as you can see below: (Hint: Sing these words either out loud or in your head to the tune of ♫♪ Back in the Saddle Again. ♫♪)

I'm back into salads again.
Burgers & fries won't make me thin.
I saw some gorgeous clothes at
the mall last week.
I must fight this war on fat and win.

(courtesy google)
Chorus:
I'm back into salads again.
Lettuce & broccoli are my friends
Also low cal dressing will help
Try to get rid of my chin(s)
I'm back into salads again.

(Forgive me Gene Autry!)

  2. This is so good...and right for me today. Just found two new dressing that help the lettuce go down! Try an Sesame with Ginger, feta cheese, kalamata olives with Chinese noodles on top...good and different!

  3. I liked it!

I like Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing on my salad, but I have never seen a low-fat version.

My favorite salad is romaine with red onions, strawberries, and mandarin oranges. But give me the vidalia dressing instead of poppyseed.

  5. My favorite salad is romaine with red onions, strawberries, and mandarin oranges. And like to add so much chilly powder and turmeric powder because I likes its test so much.

  6. I think you are a poet!

I love Greek salads with lots of feta cheese and kalamata olives. I know these things are fattening, but give me a break...I'm eating veggies instead of fish n chips!

  9. Becky, that is funny and catchy ... I think I'll start singing it too.

"I'm off of bread for now.
It's making me look like a cow.
    Less bread for me, the thinner I'll be;
I'm off of bread for now!"

  10. Well, maybe you won't win any poetry prizes for it, but it made me smile! :)

  12. Enjoyed your back in the salads again. Me too for my nephews out-of-town wedding in September plus my grandson's innocent remark when he tried teaching me the swimmers turn. "Grandma, you're just too big-butted." The truth hurts mostly cause I laughed
    so hard. Good luck!

  13. I heard Gene Autry haunts people who use his song for anything other than calming restless dogies. Oh, wait, I bet you sang it to Vern. Don't tell him that a dogie is actually a cow. How funny. But I was really expecting you to pay homage to John Wayne when you said that you had a western theme on your blog.:)

  14. Thanks everyone! Glad I could give you a little smile today, or even a chuckle. As all of you know, us writers have the weirdest ideas pop into our heads!
