* Writerly News *

The past seven days have been crazy busy. I keep telling myself I am NOT going to schedule any more than TWO things a week.....meetings, lunches, even errands. I obviously need to stay home to do my writing and those pesky housewifey-type duties, but the biggest reason is I have such a Low Energy Level. I've always been like this and even took naps when I was in high school.

Yesterday, the end of an already busy week, I attended our monthly Saturday Writers meeting, which was awesome. Immediately after that, many of us went to Pasta House for a late lunch. Mmmm...good. By the time we left all I wanted to do was head home and take one of my 3-Hour Naps!  Yes, that is the typical nap I take/need. (I don't want any comments about how "lucky" I am that I can do that, because I don't work full time....blah, blah, blah. Believe me, I rather have tons of energy, than feel the way I do.)

So, why am I telling you all this? I passed up the opportunity last night, to see Anne Lamott at the St. Louis County Library. I LOVE Anne Lamott! She is a fabulous writer, but I could not get up in time to see her. It kills me that I wasn't able to attend, but I know in my heart, that I'll see her some other time.

Tomorrow and Tuesday, I'll be blog hosting Lynn Goodwin, author of You Want Me to Do WHAT? Journaling for Caregivers. Lynn also runs Writer Advice which is a fabulous website for....writers!
It's filled with all kinds of information; Resources, Markets, Bragboards, Manuscript Consultation, and a current CONTEST, just to name a few. Lynn is a powerful writer and a delight to work with. Please stop back by tomorrow and Tuesday!

  3. The Saturday Writers meeting was great, and so was Pasta House. But I needed a nap afterwards too!

  4. I hear you, Becky, on the energy issue! I am having my own problems here. One thing I did last week was alert my book club to finishing the year with June but no more after that.I loved book club but just felt buried by so many things....I hope I did not make a mistake!

  5. When I can get it off my camera, I took a couple of video clips of her. If they are decent (in focus and are audible) I will put them on blog this week. Linda's right--it was a great evening.

  6. Not having near the busy schedule you have, I too have low energy and need to nap. Well I found out I have adult onset Diabetes and I get the "Sugar Coma" after I eat Pasta and starchy foods. My doctor said if your blood sugar is high a minimum of twice a month you are prediabetic. Go get checked out dear fiend. Terrible things can happen if we don't pay attention to our bodies.Hugs~Ames

  9. Naps are lovely...don't you dare feel guilty for getting rest!

I wanted to see Anne Lamott, too, but I'm still behind on my writing.

I listened to her interview on KWMU last week...maybe their site has the podcast, so you can listen to it?

    Housewifey duties are so yesterday!

  10. Thanks for sharing the news about my visit on Monday and Tuesday, Becky. BTW, I like the dog's photo. I'm a sucker for dogs. You can tell them anything and they never talk back.

  11. Thank you everyone for your comments! (I'm pretty sure I replied to all of you by e-mail, too.)

Thanks to Lynn, for doing this interview with me! I'm so glad you like my "baby," Vern! :)

  12. You are a very busy lady my friend! Don't forget to stop and smell the roses sometimes. Oh my goodness, that quote from Oprah Winfrey really makes you think, doesn't it?! I hope you don't mind if I borrow it.

  13. Hi Becky, oh my I'm the same way about 'energy'. some days I have it, other days nothing. And I see Annie LaMott will be in PDX and the 7:30 pm time, downtown location, defeats me. Why can't these events have 'matinees'? LOL

  14. I missed the Ann event too - oh well. Hope you have more energy.

  16. Oh, I wish you could've went (I would've LOVED it myself, if not for the oh so many miles in between where I am and where the event was).

I'm sorry about the energy level issues. Sometimes I feel the same way except for the part where I can't take naps. If it's light outside, sleeping pills don't even do the trick...
