The Emmys used to be exciting. The Emmys used to nominate actors and shows that the majority of us watched and liked. Why did they make the decision a few years ago to include shows that are only on the pay cable channels, such as HBO? The entire country does not receive those channels.
This year's nominations include more of those shows than the ones on "regular" network channels: ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX.
This year's nominations was a Deja Vu of previous years, with only a few exceptions....and all were pretty bad in my opinion.
I was so sure that Person of Interest would be nominated for Best Drama, and the two main actors would also be nominated, as I've listed below ---- (And remember, these are just MY ideas, none of these are real nominations)
Michael Emerson
Jim Caviezel
Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series: Jim Caviezel
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series: Michael Emerson
If you've never watched this show, you are missing a fantastic, keep you on the edge of your seat, don't miss a single moment drama. It's so unique and the acting is superb.
Maybe next year, and for now....there's always The People's Choice Awards.

"Honesty isn't enough for me. That becomes very boring. If you can convince people what you're doing is real and it's also bigger than life -- that's exciting." ~ Gene Hackman
I've only seen this show one and half times and I have to agree. The actors are top notch. Hopefully they will get an award soon.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen this show, but Jim Caviezel was in one of my favorite movies, "The Count of Monte Cristo." He did a marvelous job of acting in it.
ReplyDeleteI have been so miffed at TV and movies that I rarely watch anything anymore!Books are my pals...I watch the news magazines and The Big Bang.
ReplyDeletePerson of Interest, huh? I haven't watched it, but then I don't watch much TV.
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with Bookie that The Big Bang is a good one. My kids introduced me to that one...
=)
I haven't even seen the nominations
ReplyDeletebut I love Person of Interest! It should have been nominated.
Becky, I love that show too. And I don't get the paid channels. I agree that this show would have been a perfect selection.
ReplyDeletePERSON is one of my favorites as well. And I agree about including shows that aren't for the general public (non-premium). :)
ReplyDeleteHi Becky,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog. :)
I'm not sure if this is showing in New Zealand. There are so many series that come and go I can't keep up - Missing with Ashley Judd is new here (we're probably way behind) and Unforgettable; The Killing has just finished, and oh, a heap of other similar shows.
Hi, your blog came up under my google alert for Person of Interest. I agree with you completely. I am shocked and angry and appalled that POI did not receive an Emmy nomination.
ReplyDeleteThey need to have TWO sets of Emmy........one for the 4 networks and one for CABLE networks. TPTB need to look at the quality of shows from ALL parts of the TV spectrum.
I love Person of Interest....I can't believe after the writing and the acting by Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson, that POI didn't even get a mention much as a nomination. I'm done with the Emmys.
Hello Caro! What a nice surprise when someone finds my blog through Google! Your comment about separate Emmys jogged my memory so I looked it up. I thought there had been separate Emmys...and there were.. from 1978 to 1997. They were called: "The CableACE Award" (earlier known as the ACE Awards; ACE was an acronym for Award for Cable Excellence. But by 1997 or so, the cable channels were also included in the "regular" Emmys and the Ace Awards were no longer needed. I agree with you, though. I think they should go back to doing it that way. Thanks so much for stopping and commenting!
