It's 4:30 am, CST and I've been wide awake for a couple of hours. Why? Because I was exhausted last night and went to bed way too early. So, here I am wide awake and raring to go!
The first thing I did was fix myself a small yogurt parfait. (Yep, even at this time of morning!) I try to always have three major food items on hand: yogurt, fresh strawberries, and granola cereal.
Then I walked over to the kitchen calendar and flipped the page to December. There's something invigorating about seeing that new month, all those "blank" days just waiting for life to happen. And this morning, for the first time in my life, a song popped into my head right then and there.

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
I'm feeling good

And for whatever reason, that's exactly how I feel this morning: happy, excited, calm, anxiously waiting for whatever the day may bring. I can just hear Michael Buble singing this, because although I know it's been sung hundreds of times, his voice is the one I'm most familiar with.

What about you? How do you feel when you see a new calendar page? And please, don't allow your stress level to rise just because it's December 1st!

What a cheerful, upbeat post, Becky! Thanks for getting my day off to a good start with this. :-) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love that song too. And, what could be better than starting a new month with a weekend. The last month of the year. So much to reflect on.
ReplyDeleteHi Becky....Every year, I buy the Susan Branch calendar. Her drawings are so whimsical and cheerful! I LOVE her and her calendars. So I look forward to flipping to the next month to see what treasures she has in store for me.
ReplyDeleteJust picked up the 2013 calendar I ordered by her from Barnes and Noble.
New months? Bring them on! Susan
I think with this glorious spring weather, Christmas can't be around the corner! Actually I start submitting on day one, so I can have at least seven things written on my writer's desk calendar by the end of month. Some people get depressed with a new month, but I think positive: I am one more month closer to the beach.
ReplyDeleteG'mornin', Becky. I was just working on my goals for the new year and making a note to look for a 2013 calendar for the wall, and for my purse. I love calendars! And BTW, I was up at 4:30 this morning. We could have had coffee!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Becky. Yes, I am always happy to see a new month, hoping always that it will be better than the last one.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Becky - HAPPY DECEMBER! The month to celebrate Christmas. sandie
ReplyDeleteBecky you shed light on us with your words. Thank you for this post - so full of joy and hope. It made me go turn the page on the calendar and happily recognize all the potential there is in those unlived days. May they be fun, peaceful and full of love for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI love your happy words this morning! and I do love to flip the calendar over ... it's always a new beginning!
ReplyDeleteWe should give thanks for each and every day and celebrate the fact that the Lord has blessed us with life.
ReplyDeleteGreat post...
XO,
Sheila
Glad you feel so perky today, Miss B!!! Welcome to December!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was awake from 3:30 until 5:30, but not quite so chipper as you. Rather than doing something constructive, I tossed and turned. It will catch up to me tonight in my recliner.
ReplyDeleteI see a new month as being one month closer to summer vacation.
I so admire you. On insufficient sleep my pscho bitch from hell rises to the surface and seeks dominance. My calendar month is filling fast, and I have not (yet) factored anything Christmassy in the mix. I will slow down and breathe and think of your positive perspective. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love the holidays, so December comes with many pleasurable memories. However it's always a shock to realize how quickly the year is coming to a close.

I love the beginning of a new month! It feels all fresh with possibilities! I love this month! There's so much to look forward to! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you are happy! I don't think of the blank days in most months, but December holds a deadline, that is for sure. So glad that you are busy and happy, and had fun the other night!

This uplifting little poem, infused by your brightness and love, well, is just right.

I'm always truly honored when one of my posts really resonates with readers, and this one obviously has. Thank you all so very much!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Michael Buble was who I thought of too! Haha.
ReplyDeleteA new month is bittersweet. Makes me think, where the heck did that last month go? While also thinking, ooo look at all the time I have to do all these things I want to do :)
Hey Kelley Lynn! I feel like that about the previous month, too, sometimes!
ReplyDeleteI also love flipping over to a new month. Glad I'm not the only one! Thanks for this cheery post, I'm glad you're feeling so good. :)
ReplyDeleteBecky: Thank you for your post on Judie's blog. I am now your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteHi sweet friend. I love granola. Do you make your own? I have a really yummy recipe for it. Though I may try different recipes, I always come back to the tried-and-true.
ReplyDeleteYes, December...that means in less than 3 weeks we will observe the winter solstice, and the hours of daylight will be on the upswing once more. YAY!!
Hi Julie, JJ, and Patti! Thank you all so much. And thanks, JJ, for becoming my newest follower! I will "officially" welcome you in my next post!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see a new month start, I think, "Where did November go, it just flew by!" I love Michael Buble also.
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi Ann! Yep, I love Michael Buble lots, too! And yes, our mothers were right when they said time goes by faster the older you get....unfortunately. We just have to live it up while we can!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this quote by Audrey! It's absolutely true...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the blessings of the season!

Becky I'm so glad you visited my blog so I can visit you back. I love your writing and am intrigued that you figured out after 50 that you enjoyed writing! I think we think a bit alike, at least from what I've read of your posts! I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteHey Leann and podso! Thanks so much for stopping and commenting! And podso...thanks very much for becoming a new follower! I really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cheerful post! I needed this! Working in a very frustrating office. Where no one else cares! Good to see you! You can borrow any button I have! I find lots of them without copyright stuff at google! I think Sandie at Chatty Crone may have a similar ADD button too! Ha Ha! Have a wonderful week Becky! You have been busy! Hugs Anne
ReplyDeleteHi Becky, a new month is always a way for new things to come. December is always a busy month, but it's a fun one! My husband is always up before that time! Not me!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne! I'm sorry to hear you work in such a negative environment. That would be really hard for me! I'm glad I could help in a little way! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHey Lynn! Thanks for stopping by. Yep, December will fly by, even more so than usual!
