* I WONDER *

It's time for another
I Wonder:

created by Rose Petals from Heaven

I wonder why all the other big winter storms have been given names, except for our Midwest storm. Did you see what our storm was called? We were given The Letter Q. Huh? Yes, not even an entire name; just the letter "Q"......Weird!

I took this photo when we were getting huge flakes and they were coming down so fast. It was beautiful, but I obviously don't have the right camera for it! Although "Q" lasted for HOURS, it varied between huge flakes, tiny flakes, sleet, and a little freezing rain.

Poor Vern! Wouldn't you hate to go outside in the cold and snow to use your bathroom facility? This was when it first started.

This is part of our front yard, taken at 4:00 pm today. The sun finally came out for a while, although it's still cold. I just love the long shadows showing on the snow.

Here's another looking out our front door and up the street. Although the official snowfall for our town is 6", I think we had 4"-5". Because of the sleet and freezing rain, the top really glistens and sparkles, and holds weight for a while before feet crunch & sink in!

I wonder about all the different types of precipitation. It's one of those subjects I can just get lost in, thinking about this majestic world we live in. What about you? Do you ever "I Wonder"?

"Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather." -- John Ruskin

  1. Oh that quote is SO untrue...we had bad weather yesterday....windy, raw, cold...it just penetrated through all your outer wear and chilled your bones.....definitely bad weather.

  3. I wonder if this was winter's last hurrah, or if I will have another snow day.

  4. Well you certainly answered the question, "How's the weather?" I love the beauty of snow and the pix you posted.

Cool site. I joined and will be checking in when I can. We had a very mild winter.

Oh...and wasn't Q the name of one of the "villains" in Star Trek, The Next Generation?

  5. Ours was 2 inches of sleet...and thunder snow...ever heard thunder snow...it was crazy!

  6. How beautiful. Poor Vern. Q sounds better for a storm than either Quentin or Querida - the only Q names which came to my tired brain.

  7. Hi Delores! I laughed when I read your comment! I send my sympathy about your "bad" weather!

Hey Chatty! We're fine, thanks! The weather guys are predicting more snow this coming Monday night into Tuesday. Could get interesting!

Hi Val ~~ I predict you'll be getting more snow days!

Hi ML! Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my blog, leave a comment, AND become a follower. And as far as Q being a villain...I never watched any of the Star Trek's....except for the original TV show! :)

Hi Claudia! I'm surprised you had thunder with only 2 inches of sleet. The times I've been in thunder snow was when we got about two feet!

Hi EC! Yes, I love the snow when it's fresh and new. It really is beautiful! And yes, poor Vern! My husband shoveled off our deck and steps so Vern could get out to the "grassy" area below! Oh...and Q names...I could only think of Queeny! And I didn't think that was very good, either!

  8. We had that wintry mix here too, but we didn't get all the snow that you got. The ice is the worst as far as I'm concerned. Not safe to walk or drive when there's ice about. Have a great weekend, Becky!

  9. Love the quote! It's so true. It's why I love living in Canada - we have such a great variety of weather and it's all good unless, of course, I have to drive in it.

  10. Hey Daisy, Trish, and OpEx! Thanks for stopping and commenting.....AND I have to tell you that our area is supposed to get some more snow beginning tomorrow (Monday) night and into Tuesday. I haven't heard any amounts forecast yet, though.
Wish I could send some to you OpEx!

  11. Oh, poor Vern! Although Clancy would be happy with it because he loves snow for some unknown reason. Lovely pictures, Becky!

  12. Typical that a midwestern storm would only get an initial. If it happened on the east or west coasts, all hell would break loose, especially New York. ;)

  13. What beautiful pictures! I do wonder about all the weather stuff. That is funny that you guys didn't get a full name, unless it was from Star Trek.
