It's been such a long time since I've had any kind of contest or give-away, I decided the time is NOW!
Do you love books?
Do you love to read books?
How about dogs?
Do you love dogs?
Do you love to read books about dogs and the people who love them?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, please keep reading!
A true story I wrote about our first dog, Rocky, ("Rocky Loses by a TKO") is included in this fun and fabulous anthology. I will give one away in a random drawing consisting of people who leave a comment (and also become my follower if you aren't already) on this particular post.
My oldest son, Scott, & Rocky - 1982
We got Rocky when he was just a pup!
And, boy, did he get into all kinds of trouble!
A couple of wedding photos that Rocky tried to eat!
I mention this in my story.
Rocky and me - 1988
By this time, my youngest son, Mark, was 6 months old.
Rocky and Mark 1988
When we brought little, newborn Mark home from the hospital, Rocky immediately became very protective of him. They were pals until the day we had to say good-bye to Rocky when Mark was 10 years old.

If you read my blog post from May 1st,you'll remember Tracie Hotchner, the Radio Pet Lady. I'll be calling into her show It's a Dog's Life ** A Brand New Show **"Your Dog's Best Friend" tomorrow evening, May 23rd, around 7:05 pm (CDT). If it's at all possible, please be sure to listen to the live podcast!
You don't have to listen to be part of the give-away, though! (If you'd like, you can always listen to show archives on Tracie's site, too.)
* Adendum Thursday, May 23rd 10:35pm CDT:
As you can see, I crossed out the name of the originally planned show, and added the Brand New Show: "Your Dog's Best Friend", which had its first broadcast this evening! I was "on" between 7:30 to 7:43pm. Please listen to the archive show, which should be posted on the podcast archives soon!
In this case, the "best friend" of your dog, is Sarah Hodgson: "dog trainer and people trainer for dogs"!
SO.....what do you need to do to be included in the give-away drawing? I'm making "the rules" very easy. You don't have to repost it, twitter it, facebook it, or go to any trouble.
I just ask that you leave a comment at the end of this post, and become my follower, if you aren't already. That's it!
Comments can be left until midnight Saturday, May 25th. (CDT) I'll make the random drawing after that and post the winner on Sunday's post. Any questions? Just ask!
Thanks and maybe you could tell your dog-loving friends about it, too!
~~~
P.S. If you're a writer, the publisher, Publishing Syndicate, is accepting stories for a multitude of various upcoming anthologies. Check it out!
DeleteHi Becky, this book looks good! And inspires me even more to keep writing snippets about our three Tanzanian cats until I can publish a book about them! Thanks for you visit to my blog. I also think of you often; although I blog regularly, I don't always get a chance to comment. (((Hugs))) Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! Great to see you and I'm happy to be a part of writing inspiration to you! :)
Congrats on you being published; your dog looks very lovable and a bit naughty too.
Oh I love dog-dogs. My current animal, a Weimaraner, is all sorts of trouble sometimes. But I still kiss him and talk baby-talk to him. Loves my animals. (LOL-- I just wrote a post on my dog on my other blog, In Fine Company recently). Congratulations on being part of the anthology!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! Another thing we have in common! I kiss Vern all over and talk baby-talk to him, too!! I stopped by your other blog, In Fine Company, and then got distracted so I still haven't read it....but I will! And thanks for the congrats!
DeleteReally enjoyed your pictures, Becky!
ReplyDeleteAnd I could always use a dog book while I wait for a dog! So put my name in your hat. '
Thanks for your comments on my blog today. Know it was short post but it was all I had in me. We are fine but around us had troubles. Even those can't compare with OK though...Joplin, Moore, I am feeling like an animal hiding from a predator...when will he finally find ME!
Hi Claudia! I know you love dogs, and you are definitely in the drawing!!...As are everyone leaving a comment here until Midnight Saturday!
Hi Pat! Thank you! I'm really glad to be back in "blog form" too! And yes, I didn't think to mention the names of my friends who also have stories in this fabulous book....such as you!! Congrats again on also having a story in it!
ReplyDeleteHi Val! Thank you for stopping and commenting, even though you don't want to be entered into the drawing. That is very cool of you! :)
DeleteAnd so glad you enjoyed the book....and Rocky, Rocky, Rocky!
Even as a mad cat lady I have a huge soft spot for dogs. I learned to walk pulling myself up on our German Shepherd's tail. I teethed on his ears. He was extraordinarily patient. I gather he just about crossed his legs so he didn't pull me off my feet, and merely turned round, looked at me and sighed when I gnawed on him.
ReplyDeleteHe got his vengeance though, and stole (and drained) my bottle every chance he got.
Hi EC! Awwww, what a wonderful German Shepherd you grew up with! And I know you're a "mad cat lady" ....and i will STILL enter you in the drawing!! LOL
DeleteWhy yes, matter of fact I DO like books and dogs and schmaltzy books about dogs. And gee, it's gonna be my anniversary in a couple days, not to "influence" you or anything... HA!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! So glad to hear you like books and dogs, etc! And gee...Happy Anniversary ahead of time...but no, that won't "influence" me....because it's all random! :)
DeleteI love dogs. I love books, too. bOY THERE ARE A ALOT OF US!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the radio show--I'll be driving to Colorado at that time, so I'll have to catch it in the archives. Have fun!
Hi Margo! Hope you're having a wonderful drive to Colorado! And please do listen to the archives. I was on the show from about 7:30 - 7:43pm, CDT. I talked about Rocky a little, and also about VERN, of course!! :)
DeleteWhat sweet photos, Becky. I remember you reading the essay in critique group. It was a fun story.
ReplyDeleteI love dogs; I love to read; I love books and I love books about dogs.
And I'm a long-time follower but have never won anything on your blog, darn it. Maybe I'll get luck this time.
Hi Donna! Thanks! I'm glad you liked my story at critique, and because of you and the other members, I'm sure I made improvements to it before I submitted it! :)
DeleteGosh, you've NEVER won anything on my blog?? That's really weird! It's all up to the random drawing...what can I say?!
That's a great quote, Becky!
ReplyDeleteCan't say that I'm a "dog" person, but this post may just win me over...
;)
Thanks, Sue!! Glad you like the quote..and hey, if I've won you over, I say "YAY!" :)
DeleteYou know how much I love dogs. What a great prize for this contest. Love the quote.
ReplyDeleteHi Myrna! Thanks for stopping!! And yes, I know you love dogs! Glad you like the quote, too! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Cathy C! I do know you love dogs and books...but, me, too? WOW! :D
DeleteI love dog stories, love to read dog stories, and would love to read your book about dogs. Frankly, I love to read, read, read. ; )
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi Ann! I certainly do know that you love to READ! You are probably the most reading-ist person I know! :)
DeleteThanks for stopping and commenting!
Rocky was quite a dog--and obviously added a lot to your family. At the moment we're dog-less--just 2 feral cats! But I grew up with dogs & they are always #1 in my heart. (PS, don't tell the cats, they're already quite wary of the strange people who put food out each day.)
ReplyDeleteAn aside: I also love your favorite coffee cup!
Hey Pam! Great to see your name in the comments! Go glad you love dogs....and my coffee cup! :)
DeleteP.S. I don't think you're already a follower, so if you are, please let me know.
Stopping by to say Happy Memorial Day! Hope you had a nice weekend. Thanks for the link to Publishing Syndicate.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm sorry you were too late to be in the drawing, so I appreciate even more that you left a comment here! :)
