    1. We readers (and writers) sure know how to get lost in words and stories, don't we?! :)

    1. Hi Susan! Thank you! I'm happy to post at least a little something! I'm doing better...still fighting a sinus infection, but much better. It's very hot and humid here. Typical St. Louis summertime weather!

  5. Now, isn't that the truth! I have escaped into a great book this past weekend, "Memoirs of a Geisha" ... an awesome book. My Mom found it sad, but so far I have enjoyed all of the history and find the heroine to be super strong and honest.

    Hugs, Becky!

  7. Perfect for today. My daughter was complaining about being bored and I told her to go read a book. "You can spend hours off and away and never leave your room." She wasn't convinced, but it always worked for me. Still does!

Love the pic of you and Vern!

    1. Thanks, Lisa! And that's always been so true for me, too! My husband is not a reader....Can you imagine??!!...And he's always amazed when I'm so engrossed in a book that I don't hear or see anything going on around me! I am so happy and grateful that I LOVE TO READ!!

  8. HiYa, BECKY ~
It was the Summer between 5th and 6th grades when I turned into a reader. My Ma had given me the three books from a boys adventure series that she still had from her own childhood: SECKATARY HAWKINS, published by Robert F. Schulkers in Cincinnati in the mid-1920s. (I'll bet none of your other Followers have ever heard of that series.) My favorite was titled 'THE YELLOW Y', which I eventually reread countless times.

Seeing how engrossed I became in the Seckatary Hawkins books, my parents got me some Hardy Boys books and I was totally hooked on reading from those days to these. (Although, now, I read almost exclusively nonfiction.)

Very recently, my Brother mentioned remembering those long ago Summer days when I would literally spend THE ENTIRE DAY in my bedroom reading Hardy Boys books. For awhile there, I spent so much time indoors, just reading, that I lost the break on my curveball.

    1. Oh my goodness! I'm really behind in my replies...again! And YOU, Mr. Stephen T.....always leave fabulous comments!! I, too, spent many hours reading when I was a kid. I'm so grateful my parents and older sisters read to my brother and me. As we got older, we sometimes received books as gifts and I always loved that! As you devoured Hardy Boys books, I sped read Nancy Drew! Great memories!
