If you've read my blog in past years, during fall months, you know it's my favorite season. Not everyone loves fall, in fact, some people downright dislike it! I've heard the expression, "Everything is dying in the fall. How can you like it?!"
Pardon me, but the trees and other living plants are not dying! They are going into winter hibernation, so they can bloom again in the spring! You know....that long winter's nap?
I'm looking forward to witnessing and reveling in, the changing colors of the leaves here in our new neighborhood! My anticipation is like waiting to see a beautiful painting.

Below are some of my favorite quotes about autumn:
"Listen! the wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves, we have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!" - Humbert Wolfe
"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree." -- Emily Bronte
"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." - George Eliot
"Listen to the trees as they sway in the wind. Their leaves are telling secrets...." -- Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration
Autumn has become my favorite season too. In spite of the decay, and parting with the colors of summer, I love the freshness of autumn and appreciate its reminder that we all must sleep. Enjoy your discoveries in your new neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteMy all time favourite season.
ReplyDeleteFall is a season that you'll never hear me complain about. Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, I was surrounded by rich and varied colors in the fall. That draws me back there every October. In the meantime here in the midwest, the leaves are turning, the shadows are longer and there is a nip in the air. What is not to love?
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
I love autumn!! (but I love all the change of seasons too) :)
ReplyDeleteI love Autumn!! The beautiful colors and the cool crisp day...
ReplyDeleteLove Fall too, it is to us the best season of the year and bonus lots of squirrels to chase. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I am beginning to like autumn best of all. The weather right now has been perfect...and I love fall colors.
ReplyDeleteI love autumn, too! In fact, I just posted a poem about the season.
ReplyDeleteToday is a gorgeous fall day. I love autumn and the new look of your blog too.
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone, Fall is my favorite time of the year also. I just love the beauty of the colorful leaves, and the cooler weather. We are having a lovely Fall here in Iowa, this week especially is suppose to be warm and beautiful weather.
ReplyDeleteI too love it. I love the light, I love the colours, and I love, love, love the cooler weather. Autumn lets a person snuggle into bed again.
ReplyDeleteIt's always been my favorite season. So crisp. So bright.
ReplyDeleteHi Becky...You know what? Fall is my favorite season, too, and then spring. Starting to add little autumn touches in my house. Air outside is getting cooler. Love it. Susan
ReplyDeleteI do love the Fall. But sadly ours started off with a huge down pour. I hope that we don't get early winter (with sheets of rain). I love it when the golden and orange colours come out in full force. In the eastern US and Canada, it is even more beautiful. You probably get that kind of Fall. Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteWell, hallo there Miss Becky!! I never used to like Autumn, but I find I like it more and more with every passing year now. It's so beautiful to see all the colours changing on the trees and see the evening drawing in, so that we can light the fire and be all nice and cosy indoors. Hope all is well with you. I enjoyed your Autumn quotes today by the way :)
ReplyDeleteI like all seasons and don't have a favorite. I live in a temperate climate area so the differences are not as dramatic as many places. Autumn has its special charms, I agree.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Becky! Fall is my favorite time of the year too. I love everything about it. And this year we have the baseball playoffs to enjoy again. No offense but I hope my Reds beat your Cards if they meet up. :D
ReplyDeleteI love fall, too. That first snap of crisp cool air makes me feel about 10 years younger. Lovely color, luscious scents, and the little-kid-in-me excitement of beloved holiday traditions right around the corner.

Becky,
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back. I love autumn...even more than spring. The temps are the same, but there's a melancholic feel to the season that spring doesn't have. Autumn is a time to take in the splendor of the changing world around us, knowing that the pace will slow and we too, will get a reprieve in the form of a long winter's rest.

Hi Bec! Glad that you are blogging again. I love fall too, but it seems as if Oregon has already slipped into winter. 10" of snow in the Cascades are predicted for this weekend.
