So, I made the decision to post something for the third time! It got lots of laughs and comments the first two times, so let's see how this one does.....
~~~~~
While driving to the grocery store this afternoon, with my list of fruits and veggies to buy, the following words popped into my head. I've mentioned before that I am not a poet, and don't y'all know it, as you can see below:
(Hint: Sing out loud or in your head to the tune of ♫♪ Back in the Saddle Again. ♫♪)
I'm back into salads again.
Burgers & fries won't make me thin.
I saw some gorgeous clothes at
the mall last week.
I must fight this war on fat and win.
(courtesy google)
Chorus:I'm back into salads again.
Lettuce & broccoli are my friends
Also low cal dressing will help
Try to get rid of my chin(s)
I'm back into salads again.
(Forgive me Gene Autry!)
"The two biggest sellers in bookstores are the cookbooks and the diet books. The cookbooks tell you how to prepare the food and the diet books tell you how not to eat any of it." -- Andy Rooney
I like it!! And I like Andy Rooney's comment too! I always enjoyed watching him on 60 minutes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beth! I always liked him on 60 Minutes, too. He was a good example of a curmudgeonly man, wasn't he?? :)
DeleteI think if I could just convince myself that I'm not interested in eating....
ReplyDeleteHi Delores! You and me, both! LOL
DeleteGreat song and Andy Rooney is right!
ReplyDeleteHi Terra! Thank you for liking my song! :)
DeleteAnd yes, Andy was definitely right!
Ah, it is such a good idea but never seems to last here!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bookie! I know what you mean. Especially during this horribly cold and dreary winter. All I wanted was Comfort Food....NOT cold salads, or cold yogurts, etc! :)
DeleteYou had to remind me didn't you? Sigh.
ReplyDeleteHey EC ~ So sorry I reminded you of something you didn't want to be reminded of! All I can say is.... I'll try not to post this particular one ever again!
DeleteLovely, lovely! What a brilliant post! You go Becky! (((Hugs))) Jo xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! Ahhh, you're much too kind! But, thanks! And hugs back to you, all the way across the ocean!
DeleteLOL that made us smile. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Hi Molly The Wally ~ Glad my silly post and song made you smile!
DeleteAha! Gene Autry's Back In The Saddle......no wonder I couldn't fit the words to the tune I know. I'm thinking of Matraca Berg's Back in the Saddle, sung with Matraca of course and Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride and a couple of others I don't remember just now. Find it on you tube and see my confusion.
ReplyDeleteHey River! I had NO idea there was another Back in the Saddle!! Wow! I'll definitely have to go check it out. Thanks for telling me about it!
DeleteI'm back on a diet again, too. But I don't seem to be losing. I guess it's all that muscle I'm building up - it weighs more you know.
ReplyDeleteHi Janet! I'd agree with that. At least that's what my husband, The Ronald, always says! :)
DeleteVery amusing post, and I hadn't seen it before :o) I love your line "tired, wired, and uninspired". It would make a great title for a blogpost, a novel, or a poem?!
ReplyDeleteHi Jane! I'm glad you hadn't read it before and that you enjoyed it! And I love your suggestion about using those three words as a title for something. Thank you!!
DeleteWell it looks like a yummy salad. I was just on the phone with my 81 year old mother who told me she attended a workshop recently on Alzheimer's and how to ward it off-- the diet suggestions included lots of green. You should be sharp as a tack for years to come!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! Thanks for the info....but I'm already NOT sharp as a tack! Now what should I do?? Maybe start eating the opposite of green food....?? What color?? I'm so confused!! LOL ....Really, thank you for telling me that.
DeleteHa. Ever since menopause hit I've been adjusting my diet accordingly. No fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa! You know I always tell you how young you look....you don't look old enough for that to be happening to you! But you're right.....No Fun!
DeleteI totally empathize. The only way I can eat whatever I want is to become reconciled to the idea of producing a whole new crop of fat bulges. And that's not a pretty sight, by the way.
Critter Alley
Hi Pat! You always come up with the funniest lines! "producing a whole new crop of fat bulges".....LOL. I love it!
DeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteHi Ms Sheila! Glad you liked it! :)
DeleteHi, I so enjoy your writing. I confess I haven't visited my 'fav' blogs in awhile, nor have I written on mine. With the sunny Spring air though, I'm compelled to write a bit, starting with the urge to crack open the windows to let in the chilly freshness. I've succumbed to the geneology bug and have gone into that dark hole. I'm looking at piles of reading, bills to remember to pay, dust bunnies and laundry, but I must keep searching for that dusty tiny fact. I really don't understand this urge to know this, but I'm in good company with hundreds of thousands of others who are compelled to document their lineage. Happy Spring and your muse will return. I'd recommend a hot soak in a hot tub someplace. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Marsha! How wonderful to hear from you! I haven't been good at visiting blogs, either, so don't feel bad. I think digging into your genealogy sounds fabulous. I'd love to do that someday, too, but I know that right now I can't even use one minute to "just look" because I'd get hooked into it! I have to keep going with my book marketing, plus writing the sequel. I sure wish I could write in my sleep.! :) Thank you so much for stopping and commenting!
DeleteHello Becky! I got your letter! Thank you! I was waiting for one from you for ages. Maybe I owed you a letter? Oh my gosh! I am not sure either! I just wanted to let you know quick that I got it and I will write you back soon : )
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Terri
Hi Terri! Glad you got my letter, but no rush to write back!! LOL I'm lucky to get around to actually replying to e-mails, and snail mail letters are in my stack of things to do, too! :)
DeleteI'm there with ya, sister! I feel like I hardly blog anymore - I'm finding it hard to come up with something many times. Empty nesters don't lead exciting and/or funny lives like we did when we had toddlers and teenagers. Who wants to hear about my work day? I don't even want to hear about it...
ReplyDeleteAnd the eternal battle with Too Much Food? Yes, I'm there every day too!
Hi Karen! Glad to know you are right "there with" me, too! :)
DeleteYour blog posts are always so good!! Maybe it's just best for you to have long rests in between them!
I LOVE Andy Rooney!
ReplyDeleteHello Optimistic Existentialist! Yep, that Andy Rooney was one in a million, wasn't he??
DeleteOkay, now why can I picture you walking through the grocery store singing that tune?! Hope you get un-tired, un-wired, and re-inspired very soon!
ReplyDeleteMs. Teri!! I AM SO HAPPY to see your lovely face and comment!! And yes, you know me all too well, don't you??!! I'd probably do a little skip-to-my-lou dance in the aisles, too! LOL And thanks...I think I'm coming back around to those good things!
DeleteYay! Glad to hear you're coming back around to good things. And yes, the skip-to-my-lou down the aisles -- I can see that too!
DeleteHey Teri! Thank you!! :)
