Pieces of April
Three Dog Night
Youtube video
(It starts out very low and gets louder)
April gave us springtime and the promise of the flowers
And the feeling that we both shared and the love that we called ours
We knew no time for sadness, that's a road we each had crossed
We were living a time meant for us, and even when it would rain
we would laugh it off.
I've got pieces of April, I keep them in a memory bouquet
I've got pieces of April, it's a morning in May
We stood on the crest of summer, beneath an oak that blossomed green
Feeling as I did in April, not really knowing what it means
But it must be then that you stand beside me now to make me feel this way
Just as I did in April, but it's a morning in May.
I've got pieces of April, I keep them in a memory bouquet
I've got pieces of April, but it's a morning in May
I've got pieces of April, I keep them in a memory bouquet
I've got pieces of April, but it's a morning in May

*This has always been one of my favorites by Three Dog Night and I usually think of it during the month of April. Imagine that! It's quite a departure from their "rock" sound, which I also love. Hope you enjoy it!*
Lovely - and one I had forgotten. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteThank you, EC! I'm so happy to share "reminders"!
DeleteThat is lovely and nice to see you back. Have a tremendous Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Hey Molly! Thank you and it's good to be back! :)
DeleteI'd not heard this before but it was delightful. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Mimsie! I'm glad you found it delightful! Thank you!
DeleteI love the imagery of a "memory bouquet."
ReplyDeleteHi Robin! YES....so do I. I wish I had written it! :)
DeleteHi dear! I reaaly enjoyed this! I agree, it's so lovely! Thanks for sharing! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Marie! Thank you so much for stopping and commenting! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
DeleteHaven't heard this song in years. Beautiful song and lyrics. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Glad to be of service! :)
DeleteIt's a great song. I just wish that here on May 1, we didn't have the cold wind that feels like March or early April, gray skies and the promise of rain. I am SO ready!
ReplyDeleteHey Jeanie! It was cold and cloudy here today, too. But it's supposed to be warmer and sunnier, beginning tomorrow and all through the weekend! :)
DeleteWell this was a fun read! Than you :)
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! Had you not heard this song before?
DeleteI love this! I was a fan of Three Dog Night, so remember this well. Great song. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, So glad to know all this! I still have one of their Live LPs that I would've purchased around 1970-71. Wish I had a stereo to play it on :)
DeleteSpeaking of songs, I've got the Month of May (from Camelot) stuck in my brain. Tra-la, it's May, the lusty month of May!

Critter Alley
Oh Funny! Talk about two totally different genres! I love the musical, Camelot, too!
DeleteI love, LOVE this song, and was humming it just the other day! Now, I've a blog-buddy who struggles to remain positive during April -- so many anniversaries of loved ones' passing, and the like. I meant to send her the link; or at least excerpt a few passages but that fell between the cracks. Next year, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteMyra, I’m so happy to know that you, too, LOVE this song! I’m sorry, too…though, that you have a friend with many sad memories in April.
DeleteYou’re a sweetie to think of her and want to send her the link.
Thanks, Becky. My Three Dog Night favorite is Joy to the World--not very original but once I think about that song I can't stop hearing it in my head. Glad you got your blog up and running. I've been having problems with mine for some months and had to find a work around to post. And congratulations on your book talk in Cahokia.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna! It's great to see your face here again! I hope your computer problems are all solved now. Thanks so much for commenting and for the congratulations.
DeleteThree Dog Night certainly does bring back memories. They are all good ones.
ReplyDeleteHi JJ ~ Thanks for stopping and commenting! Yes, I loved many of their songs, too.
