The Mark Twain House & Museum’s Inaugural "Royal Nonesuch" Humor Writing Contest for writers of all ages from all corners of the globe......THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!
Although, I didn't see it listed anywhere on the website except for these small words in the Guidelines: Ends in 4 days, 11 hours, I received an e-mail yesterday, stating that the deadline has been extended to July 14th, 2014
So, there's still time for those interested in submitting a humorous story!
~~~
Blue Mountain Arts is looking for greeting card poetry/prose! The earliest deadline is July 15, 2014 for their "Christmas & General Holiday" cards. Scroll down to the bottom of the Writers Guidelines page to find out about the other upcoming cards.
Blue Mountain Arts is also having its Twenty-fifth Biannual Poetry Card Contest. Deadline is December 31, 2014.
And of course, there's always submissions going on at NYMB...Not Your Mother's Book, which wants "....only hip, fun, modern and very-much-today type stories that will entertain our readers."
And at Chicken Soup for the Soul, which most people are familiar with.
A clean corner of my desk...a long time ago!
* Welcome to my two newest followers Sherry at The Charm of Home, and Fabby at Fabby's Living. I hope you'll both stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! *
"I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by." -- Douglas Adams
"One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple." -- Jack Kerouac
Thanks for your contest links. I never submitted to a greeting card company before and this post inspired me so I sent in a poem I wrote to Blue Mountain Arts.
ReplyDeleteTerra, that is fantastic! I'm so happy you did that and obviously very pleased the links inspired you! Best wishes!!
DeleteThanks for the links. I'm going to look at Chicken Soup for the Soul. Blessings. Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! I know you and I have talked a few times about you submitting something to Chicken Soup! You may be the only one, or one of very few, who has entered from South Africa! (Maybe that will get you in!) :-)
DeleteWhat great links! I'll have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth! Thank you and I hope you find something to submit to!
DeleteGood luck to all the talented writers here in the blogosphere. Lots of it.
ReplyDeleteHey EC! It's readers like you who keep us writers writing! Thank you! :)
DeleteThanks for that Nonesuch update!
ReplyDeleteHey Val ~ I hope you submit a story to that!! Let me know, ok??
DeleteThose are super links, Becky. Thanks so much. Susan
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! You're welcome, and I hope you send something to at least one of them! :)
DeleteThanks for the links Becky. I spent some time looking at the Blue Mountain Cards. I have something to think about.
ReplyDeleteOh Myrna! Please, please submit a thing or two or three!! :)
DeleteThanks so much for the links, Becky! There are lots of exciting things going on!
ReplyDeleteJulie
Hi Julie! You're welcome and I hope you submit something(s) too :D
DeleteNice neat desk corner. How long did that last?
ReplyDeleteHa! You know me too well, River!! Especially since I just posted a photo on June 26th of what my desk REALLY usually looks like...or even worse!! :)
DeleteThose all sound like good contests, especially the one for humor writing. I wish I could participate, but I have to focus on my dissertation, which doesn't make me laugh so much as pull out my hair.
ReplyDeleteI wish you could submit something for the Mark Twain contest, too! It doesn't HAVE to be a story with thousands of words. I know because I asked! LOL My stories are usually MUCH shorter, like the chapters in my memoir...little snippets of life. I have one I keep thinking about sending in, but I'm just not sure!
DeleteI need to retire so I have time to write some stories!
ReplyDeletePat
Critter Alley
Ah, Pat! You don't mean that! You've done lots of writing!! But I know...it would be great to retire, huh?! :)
DeleteHow generous of you to tell everyone about deadlines! I keep working my way back to that type of writing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a slow journey! But, hey, isn't it the tortoise that wins the race?
Hi Jenny! I've been so happy to see your lovely face in my comment section!! Thanks very much for stopping by. And you are correct...the tortoise wins the race!
