* SAYING GOODBYE TO VERN *
It is with great sorrow that I write about losing our beloved dog, Vern today. He'd been having some major health problems off and on, and we had to say our goodbyes to him this morning. I can't write anything else right now, or post more photos, but please just type in Vern in the upper left search area. See the Blogger symbol and the looking glass? Type Vern and you will see many blog posts and photos.

So sorry to hear about Vern. I know how much you loved him. He was such a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry. They wind their paws deep into our heart strings and take a piece of us with them when they go.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
I do understand saying goodbye to a beloved pet. I hope you will find consolation in happy memories of Vern.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
I too understand your loss of Vern.

So.so sorry.
ReplyDeleteBe consoled by knowing that you rescued Vern and gave him love, comfort, and a good life. things he never would have enjoyed without you.
So sorry, Becky, and I echo Bookie's tender observation -- you certainly did right by the old fellow. Never was a dog so much a part of the family. I know you will you miss him. As much we enjoy the company of people, there is a need in our lives for these simple loving creatures who were never expelled from Paradise for wanting to become God.
ReplyDeleteI am so deeply sorry. Vern was a lucky guy to have you but oh, it's so tough to say goodbye, even when you know it is the kind thing. Kind can hurt like crazy. A cost of loving and being loved, I suspect, is the parting. Sending hugs across the miles.
ReplyDeleteOh, no!
ReplyDeleteBECKY, the last time you mentioned him, I had a bad feeling, but of course I wasn't going to say that. I knew Vern was getting up there in age, and having been many a dog's "human" I knew that when the ailments begin with older dogs, the time is usually short.
SO SORRY! I've lost some wonderful canine pals myself, so my heart really goes out to you.

It is so hard saying good bye to a beloved pet. I am so very sorry, but remember all the wonderful times you had together with Vern.
ReplyDeleteHe will be at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for you. You can find it on Google. It really helped me when my pets left.
Hugs,
Mary
Becky, I am so sorry for your loss. Vern had a good home and I know how you loved him.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Vern. Seems like only yesterday you were treating him to an ice cream cone. You made his life brighter, as he did yours. He will be missed.
ReplyDeleteDamn, but I didn't ever want to see this, Becky.
ReplyDeleteHave you read "A Dog's Purpose" by Bruce Cameron? It's based on the premise, "What if your dog never really dies?" Without giving anything away, the story -- told in first person by the dog -- tells of being what we humans call reincarnated -- all the while remembering each of his/her prior lives. It's heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time. Hugs!
I believe, in large part, that's what helped save my sanity when Caraleigh passed.
I'm so sorry Becky. I know you and Vern shared many wonderful years and you'll always have those memories.
ReplyDeleteOh Becky. I'm so so sorry. I know how close you and Vern were. I also know the feeling of losing a loved one like this. My heart is with you and Ron. I know you will miss him tremendously. Take time to grieve and heal. Love.
ReplyDeleteThe loss of a beloved pet is so hard. What a wonderful home you gave him. I'll bet my old Indy boy was there to greet Vern at the Rainbow Bridge.

I am so sorry for your loss. We know our pets will not outlive us, and still we fall deeply in love with them. Vern was a lucky dog.
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone for your sincere and loving comments. It's friends like you who will help Ron and I both get through this. Just when I think I'll be okay....something happens to remind me of sweet Vern, and then the tears flow. Just pulling into our little subdivision makes me tear up, remembering how many times when I'd come home, Ron and Vern would be walking or waiting on the front porch for me. And, then there's walking through the front door, and Vern's not there to greet me/us, either.
ReplyDelete:( So sorry, Becky.
ReplyDeleteOh, how hard it is to lose such pure love... I'm so sorry Becky.... Sweet Vern... Hugs to you....
ReplyDeleteOh, my friend, I am SO sorry to hear this. I LOVE Vern, and having lost my own Nikki a little over 2 years ago, I know how heartbreaking it is to say goodbye to our 4-legged friends. Truly, they are family members, and their loss leaves a huge void in our lives.
ReplyDeleteSending love and hugs to you.
Love,
Patti
P.S. I am "following" you again with a new Blogger account. I no longer use the email address associated with my classic film blog, and I wasn't able to change the address. So, instead, I opened a new Blogger account...and I am beginning a new blog.
ReplyDeleteAll that to say, that's why I am showing up as a new follower.
Thank you, again, to all my sweet friends!
