After Ron and I had to say goodbye on May 16th to our beloved lab/mix Vern, we both said, "Never again!" We truly believed that Vern was the last of the Best Dogs in the Whole World. We didn't even want to look at other dogs. None could ever "replace" Vern, we knew that of course, but we didn't want to ever feel that devastated again...
But time has a way of helping people look at things differently. We discovered we did want and need another furry member of our family. We still had lots of love to give, and we wanted another "older" shelter dog. And once again, serendipity worked its magic...
We are delighted to announce the adoption of...
Charlie: an 8 year old Beagle/mix
(I've always wanted a beagle!)
From the day he came to our condo for a "meet & greet" he appeared to feel very much at home with us. We've had him now for about a month and every day he gets cuter, and more fun, and more loving! Isn't he adorable?? (How could anyone leave this beautiful, sweet guy at a shelter?? Well, because they did, though, Charlie has a new, loving home, and Ron and I are so happy and full of joy again!)
Snoopy is a Beagle....Charlie is a Beagle/Mix.....
Get it?! Your comments will make Charlie happy! J
How lovely. And lucky for all three of you. I firmly believe that rescue animals rescue their rescuers.
ReplyDeleteI just realized I haven't replied back to any of these wonderful "Charlie" comments! Thanks, EC. And you're so right. The three of us rescued each other!
DeleteHow wonderful! Congratulations and enjoy your new friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! He's awesome!

DeleteCongratulations on getting Charlie. He is adorable and I know that he will bring you lots of love.
ReplyDeleteI adopted two shelter dogs and they have given me so much love and companionship. I don't know how people can just turn them loose and forget about them.
Waldo and Lili send love to Charlie.
Mary
Thank you, Mary, for your love and that of Waldo and Lili! I agree with you. I can't imagine the circumstances that would force someone to not take their pets with them....
DeleteAww, what a handsome guy!! So glad you got another dog - Charlie is a lucky boy to have landed in your life.
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! Thank you so much! We didn't think we could love another dog after losing Vern...but of course, we were mistaken! We have plenty of love to shower on Charlie, too!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Mevely! I love your new 'do! :)
DeleteCongrats on your newest family member! I used to have a beagle/lab mix that we got as a puppy from the local Humane Society. I picked him because he was the smallest, and hung back from his litter-mates mobbing the gate.
ReplyDeleteHi Val, Awww, I just love beagles and always wanted one. I'm so glad Charlie is such a good boy!
DeleteGreat news, Becky!!! Yes, Charlie will never replace Vern, but now, you get to bless another pooch's life with your love.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I adore beagles! Charlie is a cutie, and I know you will enjoy all your moments with him.
Blessings,
Patti
Thanks, Patti! Yes, your beagles are adorable! I'm glad you share pics of them on your blog. Thank you for your very thoughtful words.

Thank you, Pat! You couldn't have been "righter" with these words! "The love of a good dog truly helps to complete a family."
DeleteBROWN-EYED BECKY-O! ~
ReplyDeleteAs a "D-FensDogG" myself, I obviously love Man's Best Friend.
But this is a bit peculiar: I saw this post the other day and my first thought was: But she already told us before that she had a new (older) dog!
For sure, I was already aware of this, but I'm not sure how. It can be only one (or two or three) of three ways:
Either I psychically knew this without you mentioning it. (Which is actually quite possible because I've lost track of the number of "psychic" experiences I've had in this lifetime), or you mentioned it to someone in the comment section of a recent blog bit. (Or...)
Which is it? My guess is the latter, but it could just as possibly be the former.
I was definitely aware that you'd acquired another dog. Did you mention it in passing to one of your readers in an earlier blog bit? Or maybe at Robert Brault's blog?
At any rate, he's a cutie, and if you ever get tired of him, I'll take him... so long as he can hold his liquor and won't hit on the... uhm... "ladies" I bring home when I can afford 'em.

Stephen T - You know I always love your comments..at least I hope you know that, 'cause you are one crazy dude! And as you discovered quite a while back, I HAD written an email to you about Charlie, including a photo...so you weren't having a psychic moment! I bet it did drive you crazy for a while, though, huh?? It would've me! LOL,,,Oh, and I won't be getting tired of Charlie, either!
DeleteCongrats on your new "best friend."
ReplyDeleteLucky dog.
Thank you, Sue! He definitely is a Best Friend!
Delete*LOVE*
ReplyDeleteHe does indeed look very happy :)
Thanks, Trish. I think he's pretty happy :D
DeleteThere's nothing like a 'new' dog to ease the pain of losing your dog. It's a tribute to the ones that have gone before, I think.
ReplyDeleteHi Jabblog - Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment! You're very right, too, about Charlie helping to ease the pain of losing Vern.
