* THE UPS & THE DOWNS...THE ZIGS & THE ZAGS *

As some of you know, the past few months/years have been a bit stressful in many ways, and yet every now and then, there always seems to be something to be completely ecstatic about.

My favorite online dictionary, http://www.dictionary.com/ always has a Word of the Day and yesterday's, June 7th, was one of my all time favorites: Serendipity.

Such an appropriate word! A couple of really great things happened to me this week...in fact, both on the same day: Tuesday, June 6th. My spirit would've been lifted by just one, but the two of them together were simply serendipitous! 😊

1) Tuesday I was interviewed for a part-time job, was hired, and I start next week.

2) And also on Tuesday, I was notified that a story I submitted will be published in the upcoming book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Dog Really Did That?

I'm extremely excited about both, and especially the way they both happened....You know, those "meant to be" things?

The job came about because of a friend, in a zig-zaggy kind of way.

And, I haven't had anything published anywhere since 2013, and my most recent Chicken Soup acceptance was 2008!

Now, if I can just lose about 20 lbs. really fast so I can fit into my business casual clothes!

    1. Thank you, Linda! My job is in West Port, so it will be an easy commute. To begin, it will be 2 days a week, but may change off and on from 2 days, to 3 days. It's such a crazy story about how I got the job! I'll write about it sometime later. And "good things come in threes"...I definitely have another one or two things I would love to see happen! And actually, one already did earlier today... :)

    Congrats on the publishing! And that word is fantastic. Have you seen the movie Serendipity? So wonderful. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale.

    1. Thank you, Sue! I love your idea of my 3rd good thing! I had to look up that word: sylph, to see what it meant! Found these two definitions:
      1) a slender, graceful woman or girl.
      2) (in folklore) one of a race of supernatural beings supposed to inhabit the air.
      I think either one of those sounds pretty good! ;)

  7. Congratulations, Becky! I've not experienced anything resembling SERENDIPITY in a long while, but it sure feels good on the tongue to pronounce it! :)))

    1. Hi River! Thanks so much...and yes, I'll let you know if I can find a way to lose 20 lbs really fast....in fact, that's what I should do: FAST! Ha ha! And I meant to email you right away when I found the author of "your" quote, but then got sidetracked. And the funniest thing is...I posted that quote on my blog here: http://beckypovich.blogspot.com/2013/11/winner-of-memoir.html AND, I said then that I'd borrowed it from YOUR blog! So, I guess at that time, you also listed Lisa Hammond?? I don't remember....that was 4 years ago! HA!

  9. I didn't list Lisa Hammond, I think I had anon, because I'd read it somewhere but couldn't remember where.

I'm still getting quite a few spam comments that are Anonymous, so I'm trying "User with Google Accounts." If anyone tries to comment that I know, and it won't let you, send me an email, okay? Thanks so much.
