OMG! Fabulous news!!
Our son Mark just got hired to teach at Tulane University in New Orleans!!
He has a one year contract to teach two philosophy classes and one cognitive science class. His title will be Visiting Assistant Professor. It's possible his contract could be extended, too. He'll be earning more money than he was getting presently at Washington University, and also free medical insurance!
He is very happy and excited, as are we. Classes start Aug 26, so he'll be moving soon! I'll share more info when I know more. (Obviously we will miss him, and even though we don't see him that much, just knowing he's only a few miles away has been wonderful.)
I know I'll cry when I say goodbye to him. 🤧 I told him we'll have to Skype a lot.
Huge congratulations to your boy. And a big hooray for Skype. Some progress is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son. I lived in Slidell for many years and worked in downtown New Orleans for several years in the early 90s. One of my very best friends is New Orleans East so always visit with her when I am in the area.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your son. Here's hoping he gets an 'extended tour of duty'.
ReplyDeleteWow! Fantastic news, BECKY-O!
ReplyDeleteMajor congratulations to your son, Mark! I hope he finds great success and joy in his new job and that it turns out to be everything he's hoping it to be!
Bless And Be Blessed!

Congrats to Mark! I understand how you're going to miss him, but it sounds like a good gig. My working son is in Kansas City, and my college son is in Norman, Oklahoma, which is a 9-hour drive!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your son. This sounds very exciting!
ReplyDeleteBecky, now you have a good reason to go to the Big Easy and hear some blues. Congrats to your son. That is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone, thanks so much for the congrats and happiness! I'm sorry I'm just now getting around to "releasing" your comments. I've been either busy or being a mom about to have a nervous breakdown about her son! He's not ready to move and he starts teaching in THIRTEEN DAYS!! Ack! Say prayers or whatever works for you!!
ReplyDeleteI hope all is going well with Mark's teaching. Great school and one of the prettiest campuses.
ReplyDeleteHi Buttercup! Thank you so much. I guess I should post about Mark and let y'all know he is doing really well! We talk on the phone about once a week, or two weeks and it's always great to hear his voice!
