Welcome to a Tea Cup Tuesday! This weekly meme is hosted by Terri at Artful Affirmations and Martha of Martha's Favorites.
I think it's been at least a year since I participated in Tea Cup Tuesdays. My blog is obviously not about decorating or tableware, but I do love tea cup sets, and tea pots, etc. So, I decided today was the day to take part in it again. I'm reposting part of one from May of 2010.
Below is one of my favorites, even though I couldn't possibly drink anything from it!
This is an adorable little set I bought years ago from one of those "Home Decorator" parties that women hosted in their homes. I don't remember the name of it, at the moment, but this was not their typical item, and must've been available for a certain period of time.
They are miniature in size. The cups and saucers are attached and are approximately one inch high, and the cup is one and a half inches wide. The tea pot is about 3-1/2 inches high and the tiny lid actually comes off.
They appear to be crocheted out of heavy white thread and are highly starched....thus keeping their shapes!
I especially fell in love with them, because in addition to my love of tea pots and tea cup sets, they reminded me so much of some starched knick-knacks my *maternal grandma* had in her curio cabinets....one being, in particular, of a crocheted high heel shoe!
* I wrote about my magical summer vacations at grandma's house in my soon to be released memoir, "From Pigtails to Chin Hairs: A Memoir & More"
* Welcome to my newest follower Tammy. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! *

Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteI love your crocheted tea set. I'm a crocheter, but this is not a project I'd like to take on -- too small! :D :D Happy Tea Day!
I think I had one of these long ago. It was through you I "met" Teacup Tuesday. My posts have been sparse lately. I am on hiatus from tea now for health reasons and my teapots are very lonely! Nice to see you showing a cup or pot again.
ReplyDeleteCute, Becky. I remember when you first posted this lovely set.
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a nice Tuesday.Susan
The crocheted tea set is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Becky! I am so glad to see you. Your crochet tea pot and cups are sooooo sweet! I do remember ones like these many years ago.
ReplyDeleteThey make a pretty display!
I hope you are having a good week. I think I owe you a letter?
Hugs,
Terri
I like tea sets as well and have a few around the house. This is a really cute one and, yes, the starched crochet reminds me of a bygone era.
ReplyDeleteThose are cute Becky. I never saw something like that before.
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at the time and skill that go into fancy crochet pieces. Amazing! I don't have it! But I can certainly admire the effort and artistry!

Pretty beats practical every time!
ReplyDelete=)
Aw, that is so sweet! No tea for sure!
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
I've never seen such a thing! A lace tea set! What's next, a solid lead doily?
ReplyDeleteThey are sweet but the first thing I thought was how would tea remain in one of those cups! Its interesting isn't it, how we are pulled to things that remind us of our past or people we love?
ReplyDeleteHi Becky: So glad you joined us today. Love the tea set, very cute. Have a great week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! It was fun to join the others on Tea Cup Tuesday again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little set, and so tiny! Somebody worked hard on making those, way back when.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your book, btw.
Hugs,
Kathy M.
You inspired me! I did a TCT post too.
ReplyDeleteI remember these too!
ReplyDeleteThey are sweet. So....come back and add as many comments as you like to my giveaway...and you could win another PINK crocheted tea cup!!!
Thanks for your visit.

This is an adorable tea set -- and yes, you are wise not to sip from it, simply savor!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen crocheted teacups! They are so fanciful. Perfect for a springtime teaparty! I collect teacups too. They're just so sentimental!
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks to everyone for the newest comments! I really do appreciate y'all!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I love tea cups too, but all mine are in a storage unit in Santa Fe ... someday when I open those boxes again it will feel like Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! Great to hear from you!
