* I REMEMBER "TEA CUP TUESDAYS" & "TABLESCAPES! *

Hello All ~

I recently received a few pieces of china from a distant cousin. She said my *maternal grandma had given them to her years ago and now she thought I should have them. Wasn't that thoughtful of her?

(*These belonged to my grandma who lived in Greenfield, Iowa. I wrote about her and grandpa in my memoir and also other relatives who lived there. My childhood summer vacations there were some of the happiest times in my life.)

Fortunately the five pieces arrived from Iowa with no damage! Here are pictures and yes, I am already using them. No more putting away in cabinets to "save" and I don't have a china cabinet to display them in. So I will use them and enjoy them!

There are two small dessert plates. Two small bowls and one large bowl. There are a couple of funny looking spots on the larger bowl. Can you see them? Two small, tan circular thingys, with a black dot in the middle. I have no idea what would cause that! Do any of you? I don't mind it at all because they have been lovingly used for many years....And I love it that they all don't match!

These pretty dishes reminded me of the Tea Cup Tuesdays and Tablescapes I used to enjoy so much. I imagine there are many bloggers still doing them. At least I hope so. If anyone knows of any, please mention in my comments!

Thanks to you who continue to stop by and see if I'm still alive!
Y'all mean the world to me!

* IT'S A TEA CUP TUESDAY *

Hi Everyone! I decided to participate in another Tea Cup Tuesday.

I'm linking to Martha's Favorites, Tue Cup Tuesday! It's only been about oh...a couple of years since I joined in the fun! I'm posting a partial repeat of an earlier version, because many bloggers may not have seen this particular one; and I don't think seeing the same tea cups and tea pots can be a bad thing, either!

This photo is of the plates, teapot clock, and "half" tea cup & saucer, that I hung in a random way on a wall in the dining room. (of our previous home) Two of the larger plates were my grandma's. The other plates were single purchases at various consignment stores. The "half" tea cup set is a one-of-a-kind I found at a gift shop in old St. Charles, Mo. I've never seen another one like it. The back of the cup and plate are flat, so it fits neatly against the wall. The teapot clock was purchased at Dillard's quite a few years ago. It's the Royal Albert, Old Country Roses pattern. (These all look like miniatures in the photo, but they are "regular" size...and as always, you can click on each photo and enlarge them 2 times)

A wall of loveliness!

This is a close up of the teapot clock.

This is a teapot I purchased at Dillard's about the same time as the teapot clock.
The tea cup and saucer were bought at one of the local consignment shops.

This cup and saucer is not a set. The cup belonged to my deceased sister (Jo Ann) when she was a little girl. It's smaller than regular, but it's also not miniature. It's just kind of "child-sized". It has a little chip at the top on the right, which is visible. (I can't imagine giving a young child a CHINA cup!) I don't know exactly how it came into my possesion, but I'm so glad I have it, and I really do cherish it.

This is a darling sugar bowl and creamer set I bought at Home Goods a couple of years ago. It's so cheery and spring-like, and just makes me smile to look at it.

~~~
I still have all of these lovely items, plus others that aren't shown here. Most are packed in boxes which haven't been opened since March 2013! I will be going through those boxes this spring/summer, though, and deciding what I MUST keep and what I can give away to family/friends, or take to Goodwill.
I've learned so much during these past few years of moving/downsizing...what is important and what isn't. And most "things" are definitely not important. One of the things I learned, at least about myself, is that having a photo or photos of those much loved items, makes it so much easier to say goodbye to them, and send them on to a new home...where someone else will love them!
Thanks again to Martha and all the Tea Cup Ladies!
* TEA CUP TUESDAY *
Hello! Today I'm once again joining in the fun for Tea Cup Tuesday with Martha's Favorites. This post is a bit different because it doesn't show any of my own tea cup sets and I'm including people and items from my recent trip to Iowa. I wanted to share the lovely place setting and snacks that my dear friend, Marge, had ready for my cousin Nancy and me when we visited her.
Here's Marge sitting at the table.
 She didn't want to be in the picture, but isn't she cute?!
I don't know the name of her china but isn't it pretty?The coffee was just right and the ice cream was de-lish! It was Butter Brickle, which I haven't had in years! We also had scrumptious scones, which are in the center of the table in the photo with Marge.
I bought these next two items in an antique store while I was in Iowa
and although they aren't "tea cups" I wanted to share them, too,
especially because I think they're so unique!
This little white china piece, with gold trim and décor, was in the $1.00 section of the store and I just had to have it! It looks like a sugar bowl until you see the actual size of it! It's only 3 inches wide and about 2-1/2 inches tall. (see the ruler below)
I guess it could be a toothpick holder,
but I think I'll put sugar and Splenda packets in it.
The only marking is the Made in Germany on the bottom.
This pretty little dish was also in the $1.00 section,
and I think it looks a bit like a deviled egg dish,
but it, too, is small. It's about 5 inches across
and 6 inches from top to bottom.
Can you see the little hole at the top?
I guess that's to hang it up on a wall, which I intend to do!
 This is really much prettier than it looks here.
 My cell phone does not take the best photos sometimes!
There is gold trim around the edges and also along the top edge.
The little curly flower stems are also gold.
There's not a single marking on the bottom, so I know nothing more about it.
Wishing everyone a beautiful, blissful rest of the week. Thanks for stopping by!
Blogger is giving me trouble this morning, so if I even get this posted, it will surprise me.
Only a couple of things today >>>
Today, August 6, 2014 would have been my mother's 99th birthday! It feels odd to think of her that old, especially since she died relatively young. She was only 74 years old when she died.
My dad's birthday is also this month, on August 11th. He would have been 90. Yes, he was nine years younger than she was, and he died at age 78.
Mother, dad, Mike, and me.
Approx. 1958
Notice the Mother-Daughter dresses
my mother made!
The other thing I wanted to mention >>>
I've been replying to your comments and realized I haven't been doing a very good job at it! I'm still on Tea Cup Tuesday, from July 22nd, which I began this morning and that's when Blogger started s-l-o-w-i-n-g d-o-w-n. I'll keep getting caught up as soon as I can....and begin visiting your blogs and leaving comments for YOU! I apologize for being so s-l-o-w myself!
Okay, I'm now going to attempt to post this...for the fourth time! Acckkkkk!!!!
Oh My Gosh!! It worked!! Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!
* IT'S TEA CUP TUESDAY *
Hello! Today I'm once again joining in the fun for Tea Cup Tuesday with Martha's Favorites. Two weeks ago, I participated for the first time in a LONG time and it was great to be back again.
Here's that link for those who are interested: http://beckypovich.blogspot.com/2014/07/its-tea-cup-tuesday.html.
~~~

Today, I'm once again reposting a Tea Cup Tuesday. This time it's from July 3, 2012.
~~~
My little display is a set of three that I bought at Home Goods about two years ago. (That would be four years ago now!) I loved it the minute I saw it. It's so summery....and I love peaches, too. It was such a ridiculously low price, I just had to buy it! I don't remember exactly, but it was around $5.00 for all three pieces.
The brand is Maxwell Williams, Designer Homewares
The name of it is Orchard Fruits
Fine Bone China
As you can see, it's not the "typical" tea cup usually shown on Tuesdays. It's more of a coffee cup, wouldn't you say?
Many times in the summer, I use these for my lunch. It just makes a plain ol' lunch seem fancy and festive!
Ahhhhh, my morning coffee!
Please excuse my "presentation." I threw this all together and didn't do a very good job!
~~~

I just discovered I have more photos of this set that I didn't use in the 2012 post. They are below:

I'm fairly sure the reason I didn't post these is because of "my presentation!" Not a good job AT ALL! My apologies. I promise I'm much better at it now than I was then!

~~~
Thanks for stopping by and please come back again. I always post a variety of information and photos: tea cups, coffee cups, dogs (MY dog, Vern!) books, writing, authors, reading, vintage, movies, music, holidays, food, ETC!
* IT'S TEA CUP TUESDAY *
Those who have followed my blog for a long time probably remember the times I participated in Tea Cup Tuesdays. I really enjoyed it and seeing all the gorgeous tea cup sets, but I didn't have enough in my small collection to continue very long! (Also, I think my writing needed to move up on my "Important Things to Do List!")
I'm fairly certain that when The Ronald and I moved last year, I gave some away....
I know! How crazy was that?? I haven't even opened the boxes that are labeled Tea Cups and/or Tea Pots because I really don't have anywhere to showcase them. Just writing this post, though, made me decide to go through those boxes and see what I have!
Okay....so I'm reposting my Tea Cup Tuesday blog from July 5, 2010...almost exactly four years ago.
~~~

It's "Tea Cup Tuesday" and I'm joining Martha's Favorites.

I'm truly excited to show one of my recent finds at the Antique Mall near my home. I think this particular set is so unique. First of all, it's not pink! It's a lovely golden yellow, on a white background, trimmed in gold.

Also, the edges of both the cup and saucer are slightly scalloped, which adds even more beauty, I think.

The "back" side of the cup has just the one flower bud .

And the Pièce de résistance is....................photo below.............

THE BOTTOM OF THE SAUCER STILL HAS THE "KRESGE" PRICE TAG OF 49¢

Isn't that hilarious?? I think if I were the owner, I would've removed that before I attempted to sell it! How many of you are familiar with the old Kresge stores?? We had them in St. Louis when I was really young. They were similar to Woolworth's.....kind of a small discount/department store, before there were K-Marts and such. (I think the same man, Mr. Kresge, also owned K-Mart.)

I paid $4.99 for the set, but I would've paid a lot more, just because I loved the old-fashioned price tag!!

~~~
* If you have any tea cups you'd like to show, please join in the fun! They don't have to be anything fancy, and they don't even have to be china. Once or twice I shared some photos of my crocheted tea cups! Just click on Martha's link above.*
* Tea Cup Tuesday *
Welcome to a Tea Cup Tuesday! This weekly meme is hosted by Terri at Artful Affirmations and Martha of Martha's Favorites.
I think it's been at least a year since I participated in Tea Cup Tuesdays. My blog is obviously not about decorating or tableware, but I do love tea cup sets, and tea pots, etc. So, I decided today was the day to take part in it again. I'm reposting part of one from May of 2010.
Below is one of my favorites, even though I couldn't possibly drink anything from it!
This is an adorable little set I bought years ago from one of those "Home Decorator" parties that women hosted in their homes. I don't remember the name of it, at the moment, but this was not their typical item, and must've been available for a certain period of time.
They are miniature in size. The cups and saucers are attached and are approximately one inch high, and the cup is one and a half inches wide. The tea pot is about 3-1/2 inches high and the tiny lid actually comes off.
They appear to be crocheted out of heavy white thread and are highly starched....thus keeping their shapes!
I especially fell in love with them, because in addition to my love of tea pots and tea cup sets, they reminded me so much of some starched knick-knacks my *maternal grandma* had in her curio cabinets....one being, in particular, of a crocheted high heel shoe!
* I wrote about my magical summer vacations at grandma's house in my soon to be released memoir, "From Pigtails to Chin Hairs: A Memoir & More"
* Welcome to my newest follower Tammy. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! *
* Tea Cup Tuesday *
I haven't participated in Tea Cup Tuesday in....I don't know how long! I've been so busy with other activities, mostly writing my memoir, but I wanted to join in today.
My little display is a set of three that I bought at Home Goods about two years ago. I loved it the minute I saw it. It's so summery....and I love peaches, too. It was such a ridiculously low price, I just had to buy it! I don't remember exactly, but it was around $5.00 for all three pieces.
* Tea Cup Tuesday *
I'm very pleased to join Terri of Artful Affirmations, and Martha of Martha's Favorites for Tea Cup Tuesday!
(I posted these photos earlier this year, but wanted to show them again now, since it's the last Tea Cup Tuesday in December.)
I bought this darling set at a thrift store for $3.00!
I love the "poofy" parts of the cup!
The stamp says: Royal Albert, Bone China, England.
Flower of the Month Series. Set of Twelve.
"Holly" No. 12
An appropriate pattern to show on this December 28, 2010, Tea Cup Tuesday!
** Tea Cup Tuesday **
First of all, I'd like to welcome my newest follower -- Michaele Malta! Hello Michaele! I hope you stop by often and enjoy what you see.
It's been quite a long time since I participated in Tea Cup Tuesday. It hasn't been because of lack of interest, or not having a pretty tea cup to share. It's mostly been a problem with my time management skills, or lack there of! But not this week! I'm very pleased to join Terri of Artful Affirmations, and Martha of Martha's Favorites for Tea Cup Tuesday!
This is my newest find! I bought it last week at my favorite consignment store, Garvey Decor, in St. Peters, Missouri. I've purchased a few items there and also sold a few of mine.
At first, I didn't even realize it had a Christmasy pattern. I just loved everything about it.
Notice the scalloped edges of the saucer. Both saucer and cup have gold trim.
In this photo, I tried to show the crack in the cup. It's in the middle and goes all the way from the top to the bottom. Whoever glued it back together, did a wonderful job. It can barely be seen on the outside. In fact, I didn't even notice it, until I saw it on the inside. I haven't filled the cup with anything to see if it leaks, because I really hadn't planned on using it. I just like to look at it!
I just love the shape of the cup! I don't know the right terminology to describe the "round, poofy" areas!
The stamp says: Royal Albert, Bone China, England.
Flower of the Month Series. Set of Twelve.
"Holly" No. 12
Okay...now to reveal the price I paid for this lovely cup & saucer.....$3.00!
I just looked on Ebay to see if anyone had this set, and what they were going for.
I found 16 of them, most listed under Buy it Now, with prices ranging from $8.99 to $39.99!
I'd say I got quite a wonderful bargain, wouldn't you?!
** It's Another Tea Cup, Tea Time Tuesday! **
It's another Tuesday, and I have another pretty tea cup I'd like to share. I'm joining Lady Katherine at Tea Time Tuesday, and also Martha and Terri at their Tea Cup Tuesday. I bought this one at the Antique Mall near my home, the same day I got the one I posted last week. Remember the one with the pretty yellow and gold flowers, with the Kresge price tag still on it?! I don't remember exactly what I paid for this one, but I know it wasn't more than $5.00.
This one really caught my eye, for various reasons. I love the tiny and delicate pink roses, the decorative gold scroll design along the top of the cup, and I particularly love the "double" handle! I thought it was so unique.
This picture is slightly blurry. My apologies! My camera doesn't take very good close-ups, but I wanted to show the double handle.
In this photo, you can see the tiny gold line inside the tea cup. Another delicate touch!
The plate also has gold around the edge, which is slightly scalloped.
The cup is very lightweight and translucent in the upper part.
The saucer is quite a bit heavier.
There are no markings on either piece.
This cute little book is one of five I bought at Dollar Tree a couple of months ago. I've just been saving them for upcoming gifts I might need.....OR.... for a Blog Give-Away!.....stay tuned!
I hope you enjoyed taking a peak at one of my bargain purchases!
