** This 'n That on a Monday Morning **

*  Happy March 1st everyone! I feel quite "springy" this morning. The weekend weather was lovely, the birds are chirping, the coffee is finished brewing and all is well in my little corner of the world.
 *  My terrific writer friend, Tammy, has a fabulous contest on her blog! She is giving away some "Chicken Soup for the Soul; What I Learned from the Dog" books!! Go to her site, read all about it, and leave a comment!!

* Don't forget about my upcoming interview with Judith Ryan Hendricks. I should be posting that in the next week or so. It's going to be really interesting and informative!

* I have 2 more contests in mind, too, that I'll be posting soon.

* Random thought: Have you ever stood close to a large mirror, looked into it to observe the room you're in, and feel like you're looking at a totally different room? Like Alice in Wonderland? I remember doing that as a young girl, and it still happens today! The room might look larger or prettier. I might notice the little things in a different light. Just wondered if I'm really weird (although, I already know the answer to that!) or if any of you have experienced the same feelings. It's looking at it in a totally different perspective. Maybe that's why I'm happy most of the time. Maybe I notice all the little things and appreciate them so.

* Speaking of beautiful rooms, 2 of my blogger buddies have exquisite homes. One is Susan of Between Naps on the Porch and the other is Michael Lee West of Designs by Gollum. They both are fabulous ladies! In addition to being a superb designer, Michael is also a fantastic writer! I bought her first book, "Crazy Ladies; A Novel", when it came out and just loved it.
     * In honor of decorating, I'm posting a photo of a wall grouping I did in my dining room. A couple of the plates were my maternal grandmother's and some were just fun finds at various gift shops or flea markets. The tea pot clock is a Royal Albert, Old Country Roses design I bought at Dillards years ago. The "half" tea cup is a real favorite of mine! It's so pretty and unique. I bought it at a gift shop in old St. Charles on Main Street, also a few years ago, and I've never found another one like it.

* Well, that's all my thoughts for the moment. I've got a zillion things to do today, and I've already used up quite a few zillion minutes. Have a fabulous day, everyone!

  3. Hi Susan! Thanks! That's a real compliment coming from you! I just kind of "threw" them up there, with no particlar design in mind. Luckily,it turned out exactly how I had envisioned it! :)

  5. Hi Becky: Love the wall display. Also, Susan's blog is probably my absolute favorite in blogland. It's always fabulous, don't you think? Edith Wharton's huge mansion is in a nearby town from where I live. Maybe I'll visit there in the spring and do a post on it on my blog. Take care, Becky. 6. I love anything tea or coffee related, so the wall grouping looks wonderful to me! I have a few of those half tea cups, but they have sayings on them (can't remember what off the top of my head). Yours is much prettier!

  7. Hi Becky - First the coveted chicken and now the teapot clock and 1/2 teacup. I collect teapots! Are you doing this just to tease me?? Teapots are just so darn friendly.

  8. Hi Susan @ Writing from the Heart! Yes, the "other" Susan (BNOTP) does have a fabulous blog, I agree! And she's such a sweetie!
Wow, Edith Wharton's home is near you?? Awesome! Please do visit, take lots of photos and tell us all about it!

  10. Lisa, I can't believe how much alike we are!! We're going to have to meet some day! I have a small collection of teapots, too. :)
I'm really not trying to torment you!

  12. It is late in the day here and been cold and gray again, Becky! I read (bio of Denys Finch Hatton) in wee hours, and when hubby got up we searched out bahtroom fixtures before attending a luncheon. Just now getting here...

I, too, appreciate your lovely wall work. You already know I am a tea person so you hit home with your theme. It is interesting how many of your blogger friends are tea and tea pot folks! What fun!

I love plates on the wall and have a very few there. I had two of my grandmother's plates on the wall and a visiting sister opened a cabinet door too hard, hit one just right, and well it is no more. She was heart sick but the favorite one with store adverstizing calendar of Granny's birth year and marked as Indian Territory before Oklahoma was a state was saved!

As for the mirror for different outlook--as a kid I would stretch out on my bed, let me head hand over upside down and do that very thing with the ceiling and walls--new perspective. :) DH assures me I WAS weird.

Ah, first of March...can spring be far behind?

  14. Hi Claudia! Thanks so much for all your news and comments! Sounds like you had an interesting day! Yes, it's neat that so many of us love tea cups & tea pots. I'm sorry one of your grandma's plates got broken, but having that calendar is a wonderful memento! Hey, I'm glad you mentioned the different perspective. Everyone else forgot, I guess! This is so funny. I used to do that very same thing myself, but hadn't thought about it in years!! Pretending that the ceiling was the floor was really funny!

  15. It felt quite springy here yesterday too, Becky. We had some sunshine and the temperatures were a little warmer. We still have a lot of snow on the ground, but it was nice to see the sun. Love your wall grouping and that half tea cup is really clever!

I liked your thoughts about the mirror. I think it is a good idea to see things from a different perspective once in a while.

  16. Thanks, Daisy. You got our nice weather a day after we did, I guess, because yesterday (and today) it was/is cold and cloudy here! But, I saw buds on my Bradford Pear tree a day or so ago!! Spring definitely is nearing.

  18. Becky, I just adore the teacup grouping! It is wonderful. Also what a wonderful give away you had. I stopped by and Congratulated Kathy on such a wonderful win, she really did a nice post about you. I'm so glad I did for it also brought me here. Just love it all the pieces you put together!

  21. On tea things on the wall: Mine are mostly in the sink, but I like the way you think outside the um, sink.

On looking in mirrors: Have you ever walked by one and wondered who it was looking at you, only to realize it's you?

On changing perspectives: When I was all grown up and visited my old neighborhood, I was shocked at how small everything was! And a little sad.

On being happy (and an homage to Dr. Seuss because I'm too lazy to write on the March 2 post): I do so like this online log. Thank you, thank you, Becky's blog!:-)

  22. Hey, Cathy C! You are so darn funny, witty, and insightful. I always feel so "not worthy" of being in the same Blogishere as you! For one thing, wish I would've thought to post a little Dr. Seuss Language on my post. Duh. I'm right there with you on all the other stuff! As in looking in a mirror and thinking, "Who's that little old lady with the saggy chin and spreading middle??!"
Ah yes...the first house I lived in, until I was 7 years old. I thought it was pretty big, and that the front yard was HUGE. OMG, in the eyes of a child. And last but not least....most of my dishes are also in the sink or counter top, but my wonderful husband has taken up the chore (most of the time) of washing up the dishes! I have a picture/painting hanging in my kitchen that says: A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen ... And this kitchen is delirious!
