* Old Man Winter Has Arrived *

My part of the Midwest isn't buried under record snowfall, thank goodness, but we did get a bit of the white stuff here....about 3 inches of powdery snow. The wind has been strong and steady, too, making the wind chill VERY cold! Luckily, I didn't have to leave my nice, warm home at all today. I continued working on my Christmas cards, baked a couple dozen chocolate chip cookies (oh yeah!), did another load of laundry, wrote a few e-mails, lit and enjoyed the flickering & aroma of candles, read a little while, watched some TV, took a nap, let Tiger out....let Tiger in....let Tiger out...you get the idea! All in all....a very blissful day!

*One other note: For some reason, I seem to have lost a follower. Just when I annouced and thanked my newest followers, reaching the fabulous number of 150.....I look at my blog this evening and there are only 149. I don't know what happened and I'm sorry if I upset someone.

"O Winter! ruler of the inverted year, . . . I crown thee king of intimate delights, Fireside enjoyments, home-born happiness, And all the comforts that the lowly roof Of undisturb'd Retirement, and the hours Of long uninterrupted evening, know." -- William Cowper

  1. Followers come, and followers go - perhaps they just have too many blogs on their list, and they start culling...don't take it personally.

    They may come back someday.

  2. I agree with June. You don't have to have offended anyone...sometimes they are just trying to whittle the list down to a manageable level.

    =)

  3. I agree with June and Sue; it was probably just someone who was trying to simplify things a bit for themselves. And besides, what could you have possibly said to offend anyone?

  4. Sounds like a wonderful blissful day! Don't worry about the followers as others said, sometimes it just happens! Hugs, Linda

  5. I can't even imagine you offending someone. June is right.

Glad you had such a nice day.

  6. Becky,
Well, that's three inches more than we've had so far in snowy Connecticut. I'm envious. Losing followers is the price you pay for a growing followers list. The more you have, the more likely you'll randomly lose one from time to time. I've lost about 30 and have stopped wondering why they go. I assume bad breath.

  7. It wasn't me, I'm still here! I think that I have only "un-followed" once. I took tons of pics of a woman's shop and promoted her big time, and never received a thank you, email return or acknowledgment. After a year, I removed her blog and un-followed her because the whole thing irritated me.

Your day sounds blissful indeed. Good for you! I have been wondering about how much snow you have.

We have rain, rain, rain and it is melting our snow. It is a mess a couple of hours away, with flooding.

God bless you, Becky. I'm looking forward to your book getting here!

  8. Hi Becky! Your day sounded great. (Especially the chocolate chip cookies part. ha ha ha) It's wonderful to just be able to hunker down at home during inclement weather, isn't it? By the way, Becky, the loss of a Follower has happened to me twice...both at the 150 mark. Whoops! Back to 149. Then back to 150. Whoops! Back to 149. AGAIN. Then, back to 150. Now I'm at 154, for now, anyway! Ha! Don't take it personally, Becky. Sometimes I think people just get too busy. Take care and keep warm. Susan

  9. Becky,
Within one hour of posting my comment, above, I lost two followers. Somebody may be trying to tell me something.

  10. Hey Becky,
Glad to hear your not piled under feet of snow! Hope you stay warm!
Your day sounds wonderful, and I'm slightly envious of it, as today as I was walking outside trying to keep myself warm, I was wishing my best wishes that I could just stay inside and stay warm and cozy all day! (Glad at least one of us can have that!!) :)
Don't worry about the loss of a follower - what really matters is not the quantity, but the quality of your followers!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

p.s. How about sending me some of those chocolate chip cookies?!!? haha

  11. Don't feel bad, I've lost a follower here and there too. I haven't been able to figure out who they were, and felt bad about that too. :( Of course I'd never intentionally offend them either. I suppose it just may come with the territory.

I made choc chip cookies this weekend too. Great minds think alike...
    Blessings,
    Karen

  13. I found you via Robert Brault, whose work I've come to enjoy and admire greatly. I've discovered that he also has some very talented, sensible and sensitive friends and it's obvious you're one of them. I'm sorry about Tiger Girl. I've wept unashamedly upon such loss, and when Lucky (my little three legged Westy) leaves, i'll do it again. Something is wrong, in my opinion, with people who don't love children and pets.

BTW, have you read Marley and Me? Just finished it. A really touching read. ~donkimrey@gmail.com
