Vern didn't know WHAT was going on. That's Mark holding him. |
We got him to stand still long enough for this picture! He doesn't look very happy, does he?! |
Oooh, a present! And it's a beefy smelling rawhide bone! |
Yum...Loving this other chewy thing, too. And you're saying, "Where's the birthday cake??" |
Well, we didn't have a "real" one, but we used this cool cake candle for photos!
Those of you who don't know the story about Vern, here's a condensed version: Three months after we had to say goodbye to our beloved Tiger, I was ready to look for another dog. Wanted an "older" dog....a companion, and not a frisky puppy. Found Vern, a lab mix, online at a shelter. His age was listed as eight, but found out he was really nine and a half.....big difference in dog years! But, we brought him home with us (in March) and have been in love with this fabulous dog ever since! He is sweet, loving, smart, funny and just plain perfect. Happy Birthday, Vern! May you live MANY more years.
Also, Welcome to my newest follower, Christine. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! Thank you!

Happy birthday Vern! And I love the quote at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Vern! I love the quote as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of fun...Vern is one lucky guy dog!
ReplyDeleteThat was funny, Becky. Got a kick out of the candle cake. As for Vern, tell him "WOOF WOOF" for me.
ReplyDeleteSincerely, Susan
Hi Becky,
ReplyDeleteYou are so nice. It looks like a fun party, and I enjoyed all the pictures.
Happy Birthday, Vern!

Cooper says Woof-Woof Happy Birthday, Vern!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to ya, Vern!
ReplyDelete=)
Vern, this is to wish you a Happy Birthday. Becky thought you were younger, but most of the guys coming here thought Becky was younger. Smiles, rb.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Vern! I love the photos of him of your side bar and just assumed he's been with you for a long time. Glad you have such a lovely companion. And he's lucky to have you and your family to spoil him with a birthday. That candle cake looks good enough to eat. Bless you dearest Becky. (((Hugs))) Jo
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Vern! I, too, prefer older animals, and you are an angel to have adopted a guy who is not in his prime. I love Kundera. If I'm remembering correctly, he also once wrote that a woman has a cat so as to have an excuse to talk to herself (or something like that...)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Vern! I don't think Vern cared much for the party hat, but he looks pretty excited about his present. haha! That's such a cute photo. :)
ReplyDeleteVern in his party hat made me think of Art Holliday and Jennifer Blome on the morning news. After all these years, Art still cracks up at a dog in a hat. I think Jennifer believes ALL dogs should wear hats.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Vern! Love him in his hat and collar! Charlie does not do 'dress up' very well either.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, thanks everyone! I'll leave better comments tomorrow, but wanted to at least acknowledge y'all.
ReplyDeleteFoley says, "Happy birthday, Vern. I'm a senior too, and life is good after 10..."
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Vern! My dog Koda (who's looks astonishingly like Vern, but younger)sends her best! Woof Woof!
ReplyDeleteLucky Vern!
ReplyDeleteCan I borrow his neckpiece for MY next birthday? I'd smile, I promise!
Oh my gosh, how cute! Happy belated birthday to Vern :)
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be honest. I'm not sure if Vern liked wearing his party get-up!
ReplyDeleteHe looked a lot happier with something to chew on!
Happy Birthday to Vern! You don't look a day over...ummm...golly geez, I don't really know how to offer a gracious compliment here...so I'll end by saying...
May all your hydrants be reachable, your bones be yummy and your walks long and lovely with many squirrels to bark at!
Vern, I'm sorry to be late to your party. I can see you had a very happy birthday!
