I've collected a few things over the years and shared an item or two on my blog. Somewhere along this journey of mine I became very interested in decorative doorknobs and vintage-looking keys.
When I began this collection, the idea of them having a deep meaning never entered my mind, until just recently. Ahhh.....doorknobs open doors (to success) and keys turn the locks (to success.)
Welcome to my newest followers, Lani and Hensrule. I hope you'll stop by often and always enjoy what you read and see! Thank you!
And didn't you just love Aunt Clara on the TV show, Bewitched??
Aunt Clara: Wouldn't you like to see my doorknob collection?
Phyllis Stephens: I beg your pardon?
Samantha Stephens: Aunt Clara collects doorknobs.
Aunt Clara: I have three thousand.
Very cool collection, Becky.
ReplyDeleteYou are a born decorator.

Those are cool, Becky!
ReplyDeleteI love your collection. I only have one doorknob but I love it. Now I will think of them in another way! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual collection! I love these doorknobs and keys. Collections should have special meanings...then there was the year my son had his SCAB collection!!!
ReplyDeleteAre you going for 3000? That's a lot of open doors!
ReplyDeleteI'd say you have these decorations "pegged," Becky. Very cute. Susan
ReplyDeleteAloha Becky;
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage doorknobs and keys, absolutely beautiful.
I love your analogy, such a positive view.
Thank you for sharing part of your collection; feel free to share more with us. I love looking.
Hugs...
Becky, very cute collection. You know, the reason they made glass doorknobs is because Americans donated all of their brass to the war effort to make ammunition.
ReplyDeleteWhen a door closes, a window opens...
ReplyDeleteI never knew you collected those keys and doorknobs. I do remember seeing them at your home though! I love the Aunt Clara quote-wasn't she a hoot?

Hello, Becky, this is Aunt Clara. I've come to collect those delightful looking doorknobs. Let's see that will make three thousand and . . . ;o) Oh, Janet over at the Blackberry Patch also collects them?
ReplyDeleteI was happy with my picture of a lock and key. You have the real thing! Love them!!
ReplyDeleteI've met quite a few people now who are into collecting old keys.
ReplyDeleteHave to admit they are pretty cool!
=)
I love your glass doorknobs. We lived in an old house before the one we live in now. It had glass doorknobs. Every time I think of them, I kick myself for not replacing them and bringing them with me, ha.
ReplyDeleteLove your analogy to the doors and keys and love the doors and keys!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteBecky, I love your collection of doorknobs and keys! The symbolism is fab, open doors, the key to a door, the key unlocks an opening....(unless....you are wanting to keep doors shut and locked!....now that is my inner writer jumping ahead!)
ReplyDeleteLol!
Hugs,
Terri
Becky...this is a fabulous post and I missed it. I don't know how I let that happen1 What great ideas and what a wonderful collection! Thank you sooo much for sharing!!!!
