While driving to the grocery store this afternoon, with my list of fruits and veggies to buy, the following words popped into my head. I've mentioned before that I am not a poet, and don't y'all know it, as you can see below:
(Hint: Sing out loud or in your head to the tune of ♫♪ Back in the Saddle Again. ♫♪)
I'm back into salads again.
Burgers & fries won't make me thin.
I saw some gorgeous clothes at
the mall last week.
I must fight this war on fat and win.
(courtesy google)
Chorus:I'm back into salads again.
Lettuce & broccoli are my friends
Also low cal dressing will help
Try to get rid of my chin(s)
I'm back into salads again.
(Forgive me Gene Autry!)
"The two biggest sellers in bookstores are the cookbooks and the diet books. The cookbooks tell you how to prepare the food and the diet books tell you how not to eat any of it." -- Andy Rooney
I need to get back into salads again.
ReplyDeleteWith little or no dressing.
;)
I love it. I'm back in the salads again, but the doctor took away all Fat and Fatty foods, but I still snick a McD Happy Meal now and again. I have a salad waiting with my name on it for supper this evening.
ReplyDeleteI seriously hate brocolli. Is that how you spell brocolli? It looks wrong. Well, who cares. Anyway, I do like salads. I'm working on eliminating the 10 pounds that menopause so kindly gave me. Doing good actually. Special k helps, but I don't know if there's any nutrition in it. Your song is very cute. As are you xox
ReplyDeleteha ha ha ha ha THAT was funny, Beck. I know what you mean. Green lettuce, here I come! Aspargus? Hop in. You, too, celery, onions, and blue cheese. Let's all share the same big bowl. Susan
ReplyDeleteHave I got some salads for you! And some great recipes on how to make your own low-cal creamy dressings and the best part is that they'll stay in your refrigerator for up to 2 weeks and no preservatives!
ReplyDeleteSoon you'll be saying "junk food, schmunk food"!
I'm glad you reposted this. I missed it the first time, and I need, need, need to memorize those lyrics and sing them to myself constantly!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Now that tune (with those lyrics) are going to be stuck in my head all night! :)
ReplyDeleteI am trying to incorporate more salads and veggies into my life as well. It's not always easy, especially when I drive by a McDonalds and feel the French fries calling my name. (They are my food weakness.)
ReplyDeleteOn that note, I'm getting off the computer to go mess with 3 heads of romaine.
Hugs,
Patti
Hey Becky, thanks for the tips about the Bombeck contest and the nail polish stories (I loved yours). Today I did both - submitted a Bombeck entry and sent off a nail polish story. It was a nice break from everything else.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm back into salads again myself. And now I have a theme song for when I'm slicing cucumbers.
ReplyDeleteThis is cute. Glad someone is eating salad.
ReplyDeleteWhistling it already! I may sing it when I go to the store and visit the produce aisles!
ReplyDeleteha ha this was funny and applies to me too. I eat fruits and veggies for lunch instead of fast food, but results are slow.
ReplyDeleteSo it's 11:15 P.M. and I am starving, but trying to ignore those hunger pangs by checking out my favorite blogs instead. So...I head over here to find a post on FOOD! At least it's a post on healthy food. Think I'll go make myself a salad. With ranch. And Bacos.
ReplyDeleteOh, I missed this back in July so I'm glad you re-posted it. LOL! Very cute, and now I'm going to have this song in my head. Sadly, my pants were a bit tight this morning and I can no longer deny that I need to get back into salads. :D
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Becky!
Great. Now I got THAT in my head!!
ReplyDelete:-)
You're a funny gal, Becky!

Love those quotes from Andy Warhol. Maybe this inspired him to paint that can of Campbell's soup.
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant Andy Rooney, not Andy Warhol. Sorry 'bout that.
ReplyDeleteI remember this! LOL I AM back into salads again. Weight Watchers is my friend. *sigh* I only need to drop 10 pounds, but it sure isn't coming off like it used to.
ReplyDeleteHa! Very clever verses, Becky. Thanks for the smile! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I remember laughing at that before! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI like that song, Becky! Best of luck on those new dress goals.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kathy M.
The "Gene Autry" lyrics, delightful, made me smile. When I read Andy Rooney, I laughed! Thanks, Becky, for your email that pointed me in this direction. Besides, I love coming over here. Your site is SO colorful and friendly. Makes me want to open your door and sit down for a chat!

Oh Becky, that made me chuckle and I'm still smiling! What a darling post and so true too!
ReplyDeleteHello Everyone! Thanks so much for all your great comments! I'm sorry I've been slow in responding. I've always got great intentions, though!
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute!
ReplyDeleteThere is no part of your blog that ever leaves me bored. I leave here laughing. Salads. Oh, maybe. Fish, yeah. Chicken. Okay. And I'm singing that song. Broccoli? How much? Not so much. I'm up for a cooky or two. Or three.
ReplyDeleteI am totally incorrigible.
I'd love to leave a comment. Didn't happen. Google leaves me cold. Once more: salad. Maybe. Fish, okay. Chicken? Forever? Need a cooky. Want a sandwicjph.
ReplyDeleteI admit to being incorrigible.
