* TO ALL BLOGGERS *

TO ALL BLOGSPOT FRIENDS ~~~~

THE "NEW" AND "IMPROVED" BLOGGER GUI << whatever GUI means....IS GOING TO BE

FORCED UPON ALL OF US, IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. AND WE ARE BEING TOLD

THERE IS NO WAY TO KEEP OUR OLD (AND MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY, UNIQUE,

BEAUTIFUL) TEMPLATES, HEADERS, BACKGROUNDS, ETC.

I'VE READ MANY COMPLAINTS IN DIFFERENT COMMENT AREAS, BUT I REALLY

DON'T THINK ANYONE AT GOOGLE/BLOGGER IS LISTENING. I ALREADY SENT THEM

MY FEELINGS WITH THIS: "IF I WANTED A PLAIN AND BORING BLOG, I WOULD'VE

USED WORDPRESS!!" (sorry to all the Wordpress users...but that's how I view them.)

IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO?? I REALLY DON'T KNOW. AND IF ANYONE HAS

INFORMATION PROVING THAT WE'LL STILL BE ABLE TO HAVE OUR OWN CREATIVE

LOOK....PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT OR E-MAIL ME.

HERE'S WHERE I FOUND THE MOST RECENT INFO:

  1. Sorry! I lost my GFC as a Wordpress user and I wanted to scream and cry. They think they know what's best for us but it's just frustrating! :O)

  2. I have a question - I went to the site and read.

But are you saying that the look of the blog page itself is going to change or the look where the editing is changing? My editing page has changed, but not my blog itself.

Word press does not have the GFC only google. They want google + to take over facebook I think.

  3. I knew they were changing dashboard and I have been cheating and going to the little `gear box`and choosing the òld blogger interface` but I didn`t know they were going to change the appearance of our home page. Does this mean we all have to use the dynamic templates? You know, I like a good shake up as much as the next guy but some things should just be left alone y'know?

  4. Oh, BECKY! ~
The same sort of twisted mind-set that ruined the Amazon.com website is alive and well here at Blogger. I have posted about this sort of thing in the past. Here’s a LINK.

And here’s the URL in case the link doesn’t work:

    http://stephentmccarthysstuffs.blogspot.com/2012/01/notice-to-all-my-blog-friends.html

There really isn’t anything we can about this. The computer geeks at these websites will ALWAYS continue tinkering with the websites regardless of how we the users feel about their so-called “improvements” and “upgrades”. They must stay busy redesigning things in order to justify their regular paychecks.

It’s not the blogs or the dashboards that need to be corrected, it’s the entire company paradigm that needs to be corrected.

In other words, they need to discontinue having full-time computer geek I.T. web-design people, and just call those specialists in to correct problems AS THEY OCCUR, and pay them on a per-assignment basis. In the same way that you and I might call a plumber WHEN THERE’S A PLUMBING PROBLEM. We don’t keep plumbers on a steady payroll, do we? If we did, they would go around creating problems just to have something to “fix”.

That’s basically what these I.T. people do; they just keep “changing” things solely for the sake of “change”, so they will continue to receive a steady paycheck from Blogger. It’s a cracked system and we are the ones who ultimately pay the price by receiving bad “upgrades” that we never requested.

  5. I hate to admit I'm blogging illiterate, "BUT I AM"! I have just gone with the FLOW since I began and I have NO IDEA what will happen to my blog? Does this mean I will have to redo anything I put personalty on my blog? I just have a plain color background and just a plain header picture that I transferred from my own photos...Will I have to redo that???
    Good Luck to us ALL!!!
    Comforting Hugs to you,
    Donna

  6. Hi Becky,
I can't even post! I don't understand this new google chrome whatever. I want to use my old blogger dashboard. Do you know how to change back?
If I can't I guess I will have to stop blogging.

  7. Can't say I'm too thrilled with it either.

  8. I say it's free and they can do and change how they like. Sorry I just can't get that upset about it. Programs change ALL the time!

  9. I am also upset, but have tried to keep open mind. However...one of MAIN problems for me is I love getting new updates on my blog lists immediately. This week is it 12-24 hours at a time with nothing and then new things show up all at once. Glad to know others are riled...thought it was just me.
Change with improvement is one thing but when things aren't better...well, and Facebook is another one.....

  10. Hi Becky,

Around a year ago, I changed to a new template, because I wanted my pictures to be as large as I wanted them to be on the right handside. I chose one of Bloggers new templates back then, on my own and all was fine.

A couple of months ago, I woke up and my dashboard/design looked different. There were a few changes to get used too, but I am fine with it. I just now went online to see what you are talking about looks like, found a video showing how to change templates and realized that is what happened ... they slipped me into their new format. Blogger didn't take anything away from me at all, and
my blog still has all of the bells and whistles that it always has had.

Google has been reorganizing everything; maybe to save space? They bought up Slide.com and closed it; they closed Picknik, but added of bunch of what Picnik had on to Picasa 3.

Maybe you are talking about something entirely new and I should be upset too, but I think that I have already gone through the changes and they are not effecting me in a negative way.

    Hugs,

    Kathy M.

  11. They only changed my edits page, and I am still trying to navigate. It is frustrating!!!

  12. I hate the new dashboard. If it was in my car and somebody changed it like that without my approval, I would give up driving. And sit in my new-dashboarded car in the driveway, banging my head against it.

  13. I know that my page changed for posting/writing. I don't like it but I'm trying to learn it all.
Are you saying we can't put our cute backgrounds on anymore?

  14. I was totally confused by the Google friend connect! I'd heard it was going the way of the dinosaur, so I deleted mine when I switched blogspots, only to find that on BLOGGER, I can keep the Google Friend Connect! So I've put the box back up, with only a few followers so far. Sigh. I think that in the end, the best blog is your own .com address. But then we have to pay for it! Aghh!

  15. I don't like the new interface and will admit to using the gear icon and changing back. I guess it is a wait and see thing, but I like the way things look at the moment. And I can find them. Grrrr.

  16. It is frustrating.

I'm doing my best to keep up with the changes. It took me a while to find my list of blogs I read regularly. But I'm not complaining because it's a free service. Now if I had to pay and they kept changing things around that would be another story.

  17. I know that we all have new dashboards, which though we have to get used to and learn our way around, are actually not a real problem.

I do not think we are going to lose the ability to have our own backgrounds, templates, etc. My opinion is that that is a "Chicken Little" kind of rumor going around.

Just as a few weeks ago people were all worked up thinking they were going to lose their "followers." That has not happened, but because "someone" started a rumor that it was going to happen, people assumed it was true, and all bloggers were anxious. I think this is the same.

While Linda has a "they can do what they want philosophy" and I agree with that to a point, I also have the philosophy that things don't always need changed or fixing. Largely, all the changes at Google and FB are the result of having their employees have something to do. Quite honestly, I think the bulk of the employees are unnecessary.

Hope you're having a great day. If you pop by my yesterday's post (24th) you can see some of my Florida photos.

    Love,
    Patti

  18. Yes, Becky, I'm ANGRY and SAD and DISAPPOINTED, too.

I have NOT been able to post AT ALL.
It took me about three hours and the letters kept getting jumbled, and I couldn't bring photos, NOTHING.

So Becky, I posted on Mozilla FoxFire for tomorrow. IT WORKED.

But I'm DISGUSTED our old, beautiful, simple way of blogging is now GONE.

There's a yellow band across my old blog pages that reads, "Your browser no longer is supported by BLOGGER. Check out Google Chrome. I don't WANT Google Chrome. I want it back the way it was but what power do I have? NONE.

Well, Becky, sometimes I guess we have to go with the flow. Glad you expressed your feelings about this, too. Susan

  19. P.S. Guess Linda's right. It IS free and they can do what they want.

(But we don't have to like it. ha ha ha) Susan

  20. Hah, I just finished posting something that came out horrible. Yes, I'm angry. Don't like their new dashboard at all. Why are they fixing what's not broken?

  21. It certainly keeps us challenged!

I'm still getting quite a few spam comments that are Anonymous, so I'm trying "User with Google Accounts." If anyone tries to comment that I know, and it won't let you, send me an email, okay? Thanks so much.
