One wall of the living room. This is my favorite part of the room! A comfy chair, large bookcase, and behind the chair is a small radio/CD player. The paper wreath over the chair was made by one of my daughters-in-law! Click on the photo for a larger view. After my book is in print, she's going to make a different one from its pages!
Another wall in the living room. As you can see, to the right is the kitchen and to the left is a hallway. The three pencil sketches above the love seat were drawn by my deceased sister, Jo Ann, in 1973. I had them hanging in the upstairs hallway in our previous house, which was silly because nobody ever saw them.
Another wall in our living room...complete with Vern on the couch! The Peace Sign blanket is his personal one! From the moment I saw that framed picture years ago, I was in love with it! But again, it had been hanging in a room where it wasn't seen very often. It's as if we have new furniture and accessories here!
Here's one view of our kitchen. I really love the huge windows we have in every room. (The Baker's Shelf is NOT finished being "decorated." Right now, it's full of junk!)
~~~
That's about it for now. Every day seems to fly by and I get a few more things accomplished. It's probably going to be a LONG time before I can post any bedroom/office photos!
I can see why you like that picture. Did you notice in your first photo you have what appears to be orbs?
ReplyDeleteHi Delores! Thank you!And YES, I saw an orb or two! Yikes! :)
DeleteYou have a very nice home! I like your kitchen set up.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth! Thanks so much!!
DeleteLovely, Becky. I love your new beginnings. I would like to have a table in front of a window in my kitchen. Orbs? Yes, I saw those!
ReplyDeleteHi Claudia! Thank you! I love the table by the large window, too! One of my favorite parts of this townhouse is all the huge windows! And yes....ORBS! Eeek!
DeleteBeautiful! I especially love your floral-upholstered couch and chair. They're gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWishing you much love and joy in your new home.
Hi Patti! Thanks much! It's funny that you say that about the furniture. Those two pieces are SO old! They just haven't been used in TEN years!! They were in our loft at the other house, and rarely seen or used. Sad....way too big of a house and we are so happy to not be there anymore! :)
DeleteThanks for your wishes of love and joy, also!
It looks like you have a nice big home to spread out in and I do love your large windows. It's nice to be able to find things isn't it? I hope you enjoy the rest of your unpacking and settling in.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyful! Thank you so much! And yes, it's plenty big enough for us. And I've come across a few things I'd either completely forgotten about....or had been searching for...for years!!
DeleteLookin' good, Becky! It looks like you've lived there a long time, with all the pictures hung.
ReplyDeleteWe have a floral couch, too - and I'd love a wing chair for snuggling in to read!
You're well on your way to getting it organized just the way you want!
Thanks Kim! Yes, the pictures on the walls are the finishing touches, aren't they? One room "pretty-much-finished"....three more to go! My chair always makes me think of that song....All I want is a room somewhere....with one enormous chair...Oh, wouldn't it be loverly?!
DeleteOh it looks so airy and light and pretty! Already homey!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! Thanks! Those are perfect words to describe it. Airy, light, pretty, and homey! You always use the best words!! :)
DeleteHow exciting for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sioux! Yes, it really is exciting, and calming...both at the same time, ya know?
DeleteYay! Very pretty, Becky. Downsizing is hard work. Glad that you guys are happy with your new place, and how nice that you are displaying your sister's art where you can see it often.
ReplyDeleteKathy M.
Hey Kathy! Thank you! I'm really happy about having my sister's sketches out for everyone to see, too.
DeleteIt's great that things are coming together in your new abode!
ReplyDeleteHm...Hick painted one wall of our living room in that color. The carpet looks like our living room carpet. We had butcher-block countertops in our old house. Our kitchen chairs are the same style. And I'm not sure what's behind Vern's shoulder, but it looks like an afghan we have on the back of the couch.
You have much better taste in artwork!
Val, as always, you crack me up!! :D
DeleteAnd I knew we had some kindred-spirit-karma going.....
Glad you like my taste in artwork!
Beautiful. It already looks like home... welcoming and cozy.
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks Susan! You and Julie described it so eloquently! I particularly like the word Cozy!
DeleteNo place like nome! Looks so nice. I love the pencil sketches!
ReplyDeleteNo place like HOME, I've ever been to Nome. :-)
DeleteOh Kathi! I LOVED this!! You're so cute!! :)
DeleteP.S. I've never been to Nome, either...although I'd like to visit there someday! :)
DeleteIt looks stunning. And comfortable. And if Vern is at home - then you are too...
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, Ms EC! You're a sweetie, too! I'd definitely call it comfortable and definitely wherever Vern is....is home! BUT, I don't think I'd refer to it as "stunning"!
DeleteIt's looking great, Becky! There's no place like home. :)
ReplyDeleteDaisy, thanks! That's one of my favorite sayings! :)
DeleteLovely home, Becky. I like that it has lots of light coming in. Inch by inch, it's a cinch, as far as finishing the rest of it. Take care and thanks for sharing. Susan
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! Thank you! And you're right about getting it finished....and that's one of the sayings we writers use about finishing our story, article, book!!
DeleteWhat a cozy place! The colors on the walls are so warm, and I like your little reading nook. Vern seems to have settled in nicely too!
ReplyDeleteAs for that print...well, it is just wonderful!
Hi Debora! Thank you so much! I just love our new home. Our previous one...that we lived in for 10 years...I would never refer to as "cozy." THIS house is the real me! :)
DeleteNice digs, Becky. Your new place looks so cozy. And I love the quotes, especially the last one. It is so true.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna! Thank you! I think I need to add the word COZY somewhere prominent on my blog! :)
DeleteLooks like a warm and cozy home!
ReplyDelete=)
Hey Sue! Thank you! Yay for another "Cozy" !!
DeleteYour house looks lovely, Becky. I know it's a lot of work, but there's also a lot of satisfaction in making your house a home.
Love these pics, thank you for sharing! I can now imagine where you sit, and blog, and write from :) Those large windows are every writer's dream, I think *daydreams of her own home, of someday*
ReplyDeleteI really like the drawings, that light captured so perfectly in that picture, and the baker's shelf! I want one of those shelves! :)
From somebody who has moved so often I sometimes can't remember what state I'm in (aside from the state of confusion), the advice is to feel the new place out and decorate slowly as you decide what suits best - and DO display the things that make you feel comfy and soothe the soul. Looks like you are doing just that!
ReplyDeleteLovely! And Vern looks very content all sacked out on the couch. :)
