* A LITTLE DECORATING, A LITTLE CLEANING, AND A JOB! *

A Little Decorating....

As you can see, the kitchen in our townhouse has definitely not been updated lately. It has the old wood grain countertops, old kitchen cabinets, and a white tile backsplash over the sink. The renters before us painted some of the walls red, which I don't dislike, and have actually come to embrace.

Months ago I decided I was going to put black and red "scrolly" stickers on the tile to give it a little umph. I found the black ones at Hobby Lobby but searched everywhere in stores and online for similar ones in red. I could not find any.

I came across other designs that I thought might work,
but it's too long and way too boring of a story, so here is the finale. Ta Da!
I just added those very few red squares to give it some red color and
 I think I did okay in achieving the Umph. What do you think?

Oh, and how do you like the tiny lights I put under the cabinets? It looks so pretty in the evening when they are the only lights on in the kitchen.

A Little Cleaning....

I don't have any photos to share, at this moment of any cleaning I've been doing. More on that later.... J

And, A Job......

Have I mentioned I'd been "semi" job hunting the past couple of months? Full-time or part-time, hopefully close to home. I wasn't being very picky, and yet it appeared that either I was too old, or didn't have the skills for much of anything! Depressing! So, just when I decided to forget about it, a job came along.

Isn't that how things usually happen?! It's like my favorite quote/personal mantra by Joseph Campbell:

"I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be."

For now, I'll just say this. It's part-time. I start tomorrow. It's close to home. And, I'm a bit nervous! Wish me luck, and I'll report back soon!

* THE RONALD HELPS OUT *

I'm not sure if I've mentioned that The Ronald does help me around the house...somewhat. He took it upon himself a few years ago to load and unload the dishwasher, which I truly appreciate. I really do. (You already know there is a big "But" coming, don't you?)...

BUT, the manner in which he "puts things away" has a lot to be desired. I have a cardboard container to keep all the various lids in. (I got it free from a grocery store because it was empty. I'd intended to cover it with contact paper, but never got around to it, and it doesn't really matter since it's inside the cabinet.)

I (used to) keep the plastic bowls and measuring cups stacked inside each other.
The cookie sheet goes in the oven drawer.

I also (used to) keep the casserole dishes and pots & pans stacked as well as possible.

The white and blue fabric-looking material is actually rubbery shelf liner that I (used to) put between the glass casserole dishes for extra safety.

AND THIS PHOTO.......

.....is of Vern.
The reason he is hiding is because he is so embarrassed
 by the way The Ronald puts away clean dishes!! J

Here's What You've Been Waiting For!

I'm only posting these photos now because I know my family and friends will understand my non-perfect house! So far, the only two rooms that are showable are the living room and the kitchen!

One wall of the living room. This is my favorite part of the room! A comfy chair, large bookcase, and behind the chair is a small radio/CD player. The paper wreath over the chair was made by one of my daughters-in-law! Click on the photo for a larger view. After my book is in print, she's going to make a different one from its pages!

Another wall in the living room. As you can see, to the right is the kitchen and to the left is a hallway. The three pencil sketches above the love seat were drawn by my deceased sister, Jo Ann, in 1973. I had them hanging in the upstairs hallway in our previous house, which was silly because nobody ever saw them.

Another wall in our living room...complete with Vern on the couch! The Peace Sign blanket is his personal one! From the moment I saw that framed picture years ago, I was in love with it! But again, it had been hanging in a room where it wasn't seen very often. It's as if we have new furniture and accessories here!

Here's one view of our kitchen. I really love the huge windows we have in every room. (The Baker's Shelf is NOT finished being "decorated." Right now, it's full of junk!)

~~~
That's about it for now. Every day seems to fly by and I get a few more things accomplished. It's probably going to be a LONG time before I can post any bedroom/office photos!
