* Patience, Impatience, and Aggravation *

Have I mentioned anything lately about patience? Over the years, and especially these past 10+ years since I've been writing, I've had to learn to be patient. And I've become quite good at it regarding most things, especially the really important things in life. (Is that a typical part of our emotional growth? Or is it something we have to learn, focus on, develop? I cannot say.)

BUT, when it comes to certain small, insignificant happenings.....like driving across town and back again, searching for the correct coffeemaker filters....and both stores that usually have a ton of boxes stacked on the shelves...have big empty spaces instead.....And, I'd waited until the last minute, as in... we had no more filters, so I was aggravated at myself and aggravated that the stores were out of them.

(I must explain: the coffeemaker is a Bunn, and not every store carries their filters, at least not around here. They really are a bit taller in height than other ones, and I just like them best.)

SO, I impatiently grabbed a generic package of filters, tossed it into my cart with my other five or six items, paid for them and drove home. Not until I opened the package did I realize what I'd bought ----- filters for a 4-cup maker, not 10-cups!

See illustration below:
Ahhh, impatience! Look what you did!

It actually worked and didn't overflow, which I can't imagine why! But, right after making that one pot of coffee, I got online and ordered two packages! I'll be almost as happy to see that box arrive as my box of.....books. NOT!

How about you? Patient or Impatient? Always been that way?

    1. Hi Beth! I love them, too. I usually only post one quote, but I couldn't choose between these! :) Thanks for stopping!

    1. Delores, well, I'm surprised to learn that about you. In your blog, you seem so patient! LOL

  3. Whatever you do, don't pray for patience.
Don't know if that's a real quote. But makes sense to me. To learn patience, it must be tested and I'd rather not learn.
I used to have a Bun coffee maker. I liked it a lot.
Thanks for all these wise quotes.

    1. Hi Myrna! I kept looking for a funny quote that I couldn't find, so I gave up. It's something like, "Lord, give me patience and give it to me right now!" LOL
We love our Bunn coffee maker, too. We make a LOT of coffee, especially when friends are over, and when we found out how fast they brew, we were sold!

  4. Patient? Somedays. Not as often as I like. But I love Myrna R's comment. I would much, much rather that my patience wasn't tested. It is though. Daily.

    1. I agree with you both, but you know what?? If that's our biggest flaw, I say...heck, we're almost completely fabulous!!

  5. Ha ha at the Maggie T quote. We are the same, it is the little things that niggle. You are right .... writing teaches you patience. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  6. I try to be patient, but traffic can set me off. I lose my patience with foolish drivers and say words to them that they can't hear but God can. Then I feel awful.

I have had to be patient since I fell, and for the most part, I have done pretty well. My husband is doing even better.

    xo,

    Sheila

    1. Sheila, oh yes....crazy drivers on the road! They definitely are enough to make a person say *#@!
I'm glad you're doing better, too!

  7. My husband says I'm the most impatient person he knows. When I'm in the mood for something or want to do something - I want to do it right then.

  8. I've made purchases like that too. Sometimes it worked out OK, and sometimes, not so much. Patience usually pays off, but it's not always an easy thing to accomplish!

  9. I'm much more patient than I used to be. But then again, depends on the circumstance in which patience is required. As for emotional growth, not everyone gets there. I think all the positive virtues we strive for have to be nurtured and practiced on a daily basis. :) Best wishes, Tammy

    1. Hi Tammy! I agree with you about emotional growth, and also on the nurturing and practicing. It's like any talents we have, if we don't practice, we won't get any better, and will most likely forget how!

  10. Hi Karen! Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes life just throws too many curves at us....whether we're supposed to hit them, or catch them! :)

  11. Oh it kind of depends on the time in the month and what else is happening in life. I try to stay patient, in the moment and not demanding my own way (usually the true source of my impatience) but sometimes I snap and it ain't pretty.

However, I have to say not having proper coffee filters is catastrophic in my mind and worthy of great impatience!

    1. Hi Julie! Ha! Reading "the time of the month" brought back OLD memories! Not having "those" kinds of days any longer is a big bonus of getting older! :)
Your last sentence is hysterical! I'm so glad you understand!! Thanks for stopping by and bringing a smile and laugh!!

  12. Patience is not one of my qualities. I'm more the-heck-with-it-let's-git-er-done-now type.

  13. I have patience when it's something I'm interested in. I have patience with my animal children. I may not have too much patience with my husband. And I have a coffeemaker like yours, I probably wouldn't havey any patience with it.

  14. Hey, don't mess with a woman's coffeemaker that's all I can say :)

By the way, if you ever *do* decide to change.... check out the Keurig coffeemakers.... Oh my.... we got one about two months ago and only yesterday I finally decided to mothball the traditional coffee machine... I'm not using it any more... those pod things are the bees knees :) (plus no more filter buying :)

    1. Hi Mark! Great to see you! As far as your first sentence goes,..,...You got that right! And I'm really interested in those Keurig coffeemakers, but I just refuse to pay that much money for one. I keep waiting for the price to go down, like electronics usually do...TVs, computers,...but those darn things never seem to! I'm glad you're enjoying yours. If I ever get to Hawaii, I'll stop by for a cup! :)

I remember you're not a coffee drinker, but a BIG soda drinker! Hey, I'm both!
Those little filters ARE cute, aren't they?? I told The Ronald they look like large cupcake holders!!
