* NOSTALGIC SUNDAY *

Well, here it is again folks....time for another Nostalgic Sunday.

Can someone please invent a lasso of some sort that can be thrown around the earth and slow down time?? Or better yet, spin it backwards, and take us back to the days of black and white TV shows, and much simpler times.

I am really ready for a trip to good old Greenfield, where life is still a lot like Mayberry in the early 1960s. I don't know when I'll be going again, but you can be sure
I'll be blogging about it when I do.

That same visit, July 2009
I actually rode in a prop plane, a 1946 Piper Cub, with NO doors,
and the pilot sat behind me. Weird!
We flew all over Greenfield, and following the streets with my view, I saw my (deceased) grandparents' home. I still can't believe I did that!

P.S. One of the reasons I'd like to slow down the always marching of time, is because my youngest son's birthday was last week...he is now 29 years old!

(P.S. #2 - You can click on the Greenfield police station and
yellow prop plane photos to see them larger.)

  1. Time is a speedy trickster isn't it?
And where has this year gone?

  2. My youngest is 35 and a half. I wouldn't mind time slowing down a bit, but I wouldn't want it rewinding and have to do all those years again. I enjoyed the years, but seeing my family grow and expand is so much fun. I'm looking forward to great grand children. Not too soon of course, but I do have three grandies in their twenties already.

  3. Time does indeed, fly swiftly. It's hard to believe that 2016 is almost over.

  4. I am reminded daily how time is flying. That plane ride must have been something!

  5. And of course as we get older, time spins away even faster.

  6. I don't know if I'd like to go back to those times. I think I've watched too much Twilight Zone. Seemed they were all building bomb shelters and waiting for the end! Plus, I'm not too good at cooking and cleaning and that's all women were really allowed to do. It's always funny on Twilight Zone, though, when the episodes come up where characters are living for a "simpler time" and it's always the 20s! Seems people always longed for earlier days.

  7. I do love those black and white movies, and shows. My daughter Jen watches a Mayberry, Andy and Barney, when she wants something relaxing at night, which is frequently. Time does indeed fly ... fast, especially as we get older IMO. Love that vintage plane. I guess as Stephanie says above we seem to long for earlier times, but there are some "modern" things I would miss, such as cell phones and the Internet, the latter to keep in touch with "old" friends such as you. Hope you have a relaxing week.

  8. I'm ready to go back to those simpler times. I do like having my computer and modern TV with blue-ray though. Maybe I could go back and forth in time. That would be kind of nice.

  9. Hey everyone! Please excuse my laziness by replying to all of you in one comment. THANKS so much to all of you for your wonderful comments! And yes, I agree about the convenience of some of today's things. I like Arlee's idea about going back and forth! Back To The Future! :)
