* FINALLY ANNOUNCING NEWS *

Below is something I posted on my blog on July 9th!

I DO have some exciting news...I think...about an upcoming publication!
I'll post more about it when I know more info!

~~~~~
Well, I've known for quite some time now that my story and recipe will be included in a very unique cookbook, but was asked to refrain from saying anything until...now.
Matilda Butler & Kendra Bonnett
If you're not familiar with Matilda & Kendra of Women's Memoirs, you can click on the link above.They offer help for memoir writers, have contests & have published other books.They are wonderful!
Matilda also posted an interview with me on their website on February 26, 2014.
Their first cookbook, Rosie's Riveting Recipe:
Comfort Foods & Kitchen Wisdom from 1940's America (Vintage Living)
was published in December 2013.
I wasn't aware of that one (probably because I was feverishly finishing
my memoir which came out in November 2013!)
I discovered their call out for submissions when I happened upon their facebook page:
And this is directly from their website: "Why are we contacting you? We need your help! We researched the recipes Rosie likely made. We even created a Rosie the Riveter Legacy Cookbook based on some of our well-loved family recipes as well as some found in a WW2 Department of the Army cookbook. We are now expanding our cookbook and are looking for recipes Rosie might have prepared."
I love the idea of not only submitting the recipe, but also the story behind it. Needless to say, I am thrilled that mine was chosen to be included!
It is due out in 6 weeks, so in plenty of time for a unique and thoughtful
Christmas/Hannakuh gift!
I'll share more news when it comes available!
  3. Hi Becky: Many thanks for your shout out about our new CAN DO COOKING with Rosie the Riveter. We love Rosie's CAN DO attitude and fell that same attitude carries all of our forward. There's nothing better than strong, courageous, empowered women -- independent of the century you live in.
    Your WW2 story is wonderful and adds a bit to the history of that era. We're really excited about putting these recipes and stories together.
  6. Hi friend. It's been a long time since I have popped by. Have been on an extended blog break, but I sense that the break has come to an end. I am reading to get back to blog land, first as a reader, soon as a writer again.
    I have missed you!!
    I read "Winter Garden" earlier this year. What a heartbreaking read. It really inspired me to learn more about the Siege of Leningrad.
    Blessings,
    Patti
    1. Patti! How wonderful to see your face and read your comment! I wrote post about a month or so ago that I was back to blogging (and not spending so much time on Facebook)...but I've kind of lost my way again. I need to have more discipline with myself! :o
    3. I used to follow through Bloglovin, but I don't use that anymore. Just use the Google reading list. Hence, why I am a new follower.
      Oh, and I AM writing again. Get to my blog through my Blogger Profile. It's actually a blog I've been writing on since 2006, but which has always been private. I made it public and am going to write on it regularly. In other words...I'm back!!
I'm still getting quite a few spam comments that are Anonymous, so I'm trying "User with Google Accounts." If anyone tries to comment that I know, and it won't let you, send me an email, okay? Thanks so much.
