Well, as you can see, I finally got my background and template to look a little better. Hopefully, you see it the same way I do....vintage books on the sides, and no lilac swirlys! I'm still not totally satisfied with it, but that's okay for now! Good friend, Tammy, is coming over Saturday to help me with it! She's more computer savvy than I am!
"Life is a huge farce, and the advantage of possessing a sense of humour is that it enables one to defy fate with mocking laughter." — George Gissing
I get the books for a sec, then the swirlys are back to stay.
ReplyDeleteWorking on Blogger templates is frustrating stuff.
I keep thinking I need HTML or Blogging for Dummies (as well as Photoshop for Dummies).
I get the same view as June Freaking Cleaver, I see the books for a second and then back to the swirlys. I find the ones I use so easy and simple to put on my blogs. And believe me I'm not computer savvy. So I don't know what your problem is. One Thing when I get to the blogger buz spruce page I only use the ones under the first little thing, with TERRY in the little square. I don't know how to use the others. I've tried cutest blog on the block, but didn't care for them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your friend get things all worked out this week-end.
In the meantime, don't sweat the small things. : )
Love it, Becky....the book background, that is. Just my style! Susan
ReplyDeleteHi Becky! I don't see any books, just the swirlys. This is why I don't mess with my template and format stuff much anymore. Not worth the trouble for me. Hope you get it all worked out the way you want it soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Becky, I see the lavendar swirls first, then the books. Did you originally have a Shabby Blogs background installed? You have to remove it from your html code as well as taking off the widget (I thought I saw a shabby blogs identifier on your page...). That could be what's happening....just a guess.
ReplyDeleteI only see swirls. And what song comes on but something by Neil Young--I'm such a fan of his music, but my husband can't stand him. I don't know too many Neil Young fans--did I know this about you? June Freaking Cleaver, I'm with you--I need all the books for Dummies!
ReplyDeleteHmm, well I don't even get a flash of the books today. I agree with some of the other people. If you installed that swirly background with an HTML "gadget" you need to delete that in your layout. If that doesn't work you'll need to find the HTML code for the body and remove the background from there. I know, scary stuff, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for all your feedback! I can't get over how crazy this whole thing is!! When I get on my blog, even before I log in, the view that I see changes about 4 times, very fast, but still stops at the books! Weird! Thank goodness Tammy is coming over to help, or I'd be driving myself nutty over it....and I'm already pretty nutty as it is! :D
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! That's the coolest thing EVER to be described as *computer savvy!!!!* I'm so proud and pleased and flattered!!! Laughing hard, but very flattered!! I get the same thing as June, and I think Kathie is right that you just have 2 gadgets at war. But it will be fun to have our "play date" with blogs!
ReplyDeleteSorry to say that my view is bookless as well. Pink swirlies...
ReplyDeleteIt's odd that some see it one way and some another.

Hi Tammy! You can laugh all you want, but you are the queen of blog design for me!...That and that fact that you live close and are willing to come over and help me!!:d
ReplyDeleteAnd Sue, yeah, isn't that weird?? I guess it just proves how my blog and I definitely live in The Twilight Zone!!! Bwa haa haa
I think the books look great! I love the quote that dreams don't expire:)
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with books! It looks great!

Thanks Terri, K9 and Chatty! So, all of you see the books?? I'm really confused! But, hopefully this will be all straightened out by sometime tomorrow night!! Yay!!

Becky, what I did to make things easy on my blogs was to leave the template alone, and delete the background html widgets. Then I went to Shabbyblogs.com and chose one of their backgrounds for now. It was a lot easier than trying to get on to The Cutest Blog on the Block. It is still free and has pretty designs, just not as many.
ReplyDeleteI definitely don't see any swirls, but I don't see books, either. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteHi, Becky! Thank you SO much for the sweet birthday wishes today. I appreciate it SO much. You are a sweetie and helped make my day a happy one. I'm wishing much happiness for you in return!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
P.S. You are entered in my giveaway. :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Everyone! I'm a little behind in thanking people for leaving such great comments. I truly appreciate every one of you! Thanks to Carmelina, Kathy, Rachel and Magpie-Sheila! :)
ReplyDeleteI am impressed! I don't have the "lilac swirlies" on my blog (I agree---quite repugnant and way too frou frou for me) yet it is still not quite where I want it to be.
ReplyDeleteI have mastered getting photos onto my blog from flickr. However, I'd love to know how you got the shelves of books as a border/background. If you could direct me to a source or give me a few hints, I'd appreciate it.
