I look at this photo and I feel happy, peaceful, & serene. The beautiful house, decorated for Christmas. The warm glow of the inside lights at dusk. And of course the magnificent, glorious snow!
This is the kind of house I dreamed of living in when I was a young girl. I assumed the only people who could possibly live in such a grand house would be doctors or lawyers and their families!
Although I don't live in a house that looks like this...my house is my home. I feel happy, peaceful and serene inside of it. And I'm definitely dreaming of, and aniticipating.....a White Christmas! (thanks to the weather forecast in my area!) ** Update: Weather guy on channel 11 noon news/weather predicted a 100% chance of snow and a White Christmas!...and yes, I want all of us travelers to be safe, too! **
~On a side note: I'd like to say a huge thank-you to Robert Brault for his very kind post of December 15, 2010 AND to all his fantastic followers who stopped by...just because Robert suggested it! I'm truly honored and grateful to all of you.~
"Cheerfulness keeps up a kind of daylight in the mind, filling it with a steady and perpetual serenity." ~ Joseph Addison
Tomorrow night, just in time for Santa's visit.
ReplyDeleteI love how the sounds of the world are muffled when it snows. It's so peaceful at night.
Thanks, June! And yes...I always notice that, too...the quiet, the peaceful feeling, the wonder of it all. Merry Christmas to you, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great picture.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas Becky!
The snow muffling the sounds...insulating us, like we are caterpillars, waiting for the snow to disappear so we can emerge, new and improved. Improved because of the time "away" from all the hustle and bustle? Improved because we were forced to draw into ourselves, and re-connect with what's important? Improved because the snow softens all the noise and chaos from outside?
ReplyDeleteI love snow, too. However, with us traveling on the 24th and family traveling to see us on the 25th, could the white stuff cover the fields and yards with inches and inches, but stay off the roads and highways? Please?
What a Winter Wonderland! All is calm, all is bright. . . Merry Christmas to you, Becky!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathi and Clara! Thanks and a very Merry Christmas to you both!
ReplyDeleteHi Sioux! I know how you feel about the traveling part of it. We have some driving planned for the 24th and 25th, too...so, yes...let's have clear streets for us all!! :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
:) I smiled when I saw your idea of a grand home.
ReplyDeleteI had a favorite house when I was a kid. It was a tutor, and had a long, narrow, rectangular window to the right of the front door. I painted a ceramic vase to fit in the window. Somewhere along the way the vase was broken, but my dreams of creating a HOME are alive and well.
I don't live in a tutor, instead...I live in a condo - only the stucco stuck. regardless, its cozy and comforting. and I love coming home.
Merry Christmas dear friend! I love the snow, it's magical! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, Becky. Looks very serene.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you!
Stopping by to wish you a very Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Becky. The thought of Christmas snow is beautiful, the realities of everyone traveling to Grandma's house makes me nervous. Hop over to my blog. http://lindaoconnell.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi Becky...I love your cheerful, optimistic spirit, not just at Christmas, but all the year through. Also, I wish you a supremely happy holiday! May all the joy you spread come back to you! Susan
ReplyDeleteWishing you the merriest of Christmases, sweet Becky! xxxx Sending some snowy sprinkles for a sparkling Thursday ^_^
ReplyDeleteWe do have a white Christmas this year
Isn't it wonderful to have a white Christmas?
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Becky! You are a wonderful friend and I hope to meet you in person eventually. :)
Hi Becky, I love that picture as well. I hope you are enjoying the holidays (as much as possible) and I wish you and your family many blessings of love, laughter, and contentment. Merry Christmas! *hugs* mo
ReplyDeleteThe weatherman is predicting the possibility of a white Christmas here in Atlanta, too, and that hasn't happened once since I moved here (back in '90). We're hoping! I grew up in New England, so I'll recognize it when I see it. :)
ReplyDeleteBecky, I love the idea of a white Christmas ...like in that lovely photo, far more than the reality of shoveling and snow-blowing , here in New Hampshire! But, whenever I read your blog it just makes me feel warm inside. Just what I need to make it through the long months of winter! I wish you a glittery, silvery, sparkly snow- flakey happy Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a white Christmas myself... it stopped snowing here last week :(
ReplyDeleteSending you huge loving Christmas-y hugs, Merry Christmas darling!
Funny, but my definition of the perfect house keeps changing and simplifying! But guess that's how it should be. Isn't the snow lovely? As long as we're not traveling in it? All the best to those who are, and merry Christmas to you and your family!!
